Elk Hollow Getaway is a comfortably decorated, two bedroom, two bath cabin with spacious covered decks surrounded by tall pines, and has all the comforts of home. It is located only a few miles from Cloudcroft and sits on several lots allowing you room to enjoy the sunshine and private wooded location. We call our cabin Elk Hollow, because at dawn and dusk the elk will stroll down the hollow beside and below the cabin. Sometimes you will see herds of 25-30 elk at one time.
In the greatroom, the ledge-rock, gas fireplace will warm you during chilly evenings. The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need. Use the gas barbecue grill on the deck while enjoying a spectacular view of the Sacramento Mountains. There is a pond just down the road from the cabin where you can feed the many fish. There is also a nice hiking trail through the Lincoln National Park just beyond the pond.
The bedrooms at Elk Hollow are very nicely decorated, have ceiling fans, and both have nice views. Both bathrooms have heaters in addition to central gas heating.
Elk Hollow is located in a private community where the roads are maintained year round. The community has no really steep hills, so driving and walking is a pleasure. It is advisable, however, to use a four-wheel drive vehicle or chains during winter months.
There is abundant wildlife in the area. You may see elk, whitetail and mule deer, bears, raccoons, chipmunks, rabbits, and a huge variety of birds. Several varieties of hummingbirds make their home in the Southern Rocky Mountains from April through Mid-September.
Just minutes away from our cabin is the Cloudcroft Lodge and Golf Course, four Village Tennis Courts, Ski Cloudcroft, the Village Ice Skating Rink, Triple M Snowplay, and the Sunspot National Solar Observatory. Browsing the quaint shops in the village is a must.

My husband, Bill, retired from the Air Force with 26 years of service, and I had a career as a Realtor specializing in corporate and military relocation for over 20 plus years. We've lived all over the USA including MD, SC, FL, CO, UT, TX, NV, and overseas in Japan and Korea.
Why the Owner Chose Cloudcroft
We fell in love with Cloudcroft after visiting friends there in 2003. We enjoyed living in the mountains previously, so we decided to build a second home in Cloudcroft once we found the perfect location.
At Elk Hollow we provide everything you need to make your vacation a wonderful experience. We want all of our guests to feel as though Elk Hollow is their own little piece of heaven.

We stayed at Elk Hollow for a wonderful 7 days the end of August. Being from Central Texas, what a difference a day's journey makes temperature wise. Relaxing on the deck over looking a beautiful green valley with a cup of coffee and a good book... the cool breeze, the mountain views, and no worries....what else could you want. This beautiful log cabin has everything you would ever need for a perfect mountain visit. If I was rating a 1 to 10, it would have to be a 12 and nothing less. Can't wait for our next vacation to Cloudcroft and staying at the Elk Hollow.

This cabin was wonderful and has everything you need, and I mean everything! It is so organized inside and out, and the view is spectaculor. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed watching the birds and riding our 4-wheelers along the roadsides viewing all the properties and seeing the mountain. Thank you for sharing this wonderful cabin with us.

We can't say enough about our weekend at Elk Hollow! We've rented through VRBO across the country and in the carribean, and we rate this home above and beyond. The lovely owners have stocked this house with everything you need, and it is in spotless condition. We didn't want to leave!!

I have stayed in a number of cabins and by far this was the best one I have stayed in. The kitchen has everything you will need. The beds were VERY comfortable. We drove there on a Friday and returned the follwing Sunday. We did not have to go anywhere the whole time. My kids loved being able to go out the front door to sled, The wife and I loved the 2 TVs and very cozy fireplace. . I highly recommed this to anyone!

stayed at elk hollow Oct 14 and 15. should have reserved more days. the view is spectacular. the details gone to by the host is unbelievable. beautiful home, decks, accommodations, and the most comfortable king bed on earth.
