Our Elk Hollow Get-A-Way - Cloudcroft, New Mexico Mountain Cabin Our Elk Hollow getaway is a comfortably decorated, two bedroom, two bath cabin with spacious covered decks surrounded by tall pines. Our cabin has all the comforts of home. It is located only a few miles from Cloudcroft and sits on five lots allowing you room to enjoy the sunshine and private wooded location. We call our cabin, Elk Hollow, because at dawn and dusk the elk frolic in the hollow beside and below the cabin. In the greatroom, the ledge-rock, gas fireplace will warm you during chilly evenings. The well-equipped kitchen is a chef's delight. Use the gas barbecue grill on the deck while enjoying a spectacular view of the Sacramento Mountains. There is a pond just down the road from the cabin where you can feed the fish. You can usually find them hungry early in the morning...bread or pond fish food will work. The bedrooms at Elk Hollow are very nicely decorated. The largest guest bedroom has a king-sized bed, radio alarm clock, and private full bath. The second guest bedroom has a queen bed, TV, radio alarm clock, and a 3/4 bath off the hallway. Both bedrooms have closets, chest of drawers, two night stands, two lamps, ceiling fans, a chair, electric blankets during winter, and nice wooded views. Both bathrooms have heaters in addition to central gas heating. WE HAVE INTERNET SERVICE AT THE CABIN, SO BRING YOUR LAPTOP. Elk Hollow is located in a private community where the roads are maintained year round. The community has no really steep hills, so driving and walking is a pleasure. It is advisable, however, to use a four-wheel drive vehicle or chains during winter months. There is abundant wildlife in the area. You may see elk, whitetail and mule deer, bears, raccoons, chipmunks, rabbits, and a huge variety of birds. Several varieties of hummingbirds make their home in the Southern Rocky Mountains from April through Mid-September. Just minutes away from our cabin is the Cloudcroft Lodge and Golf Course, the Ponderosa Pines Golf Course, Village Tennis Courts, Ski Cloudcroft, the Village Ice Skating Rink, Triple M Snowplay, and the Sunspot National Solar Observatory. Browsing the quaint shops in the village is a must. Spending an afternoon at the cabin is a nice alternative. Elk Hollow comes complete with Two Satellite TV's with expanded service, one TV has a DVD/VCR & CD player combo , a Movie Library, Music CD's, games, puzzles, and cards. One stay at Elk Hollow will bring you back. The combination of stylish country decor, the refreshing crisp mountain air, added to the fabulous Sacremento Mountain view, make this one of Cloudcroft's best rental cabins. Amenities: Fireplace with a raised hearth, 2 satellite TVs, DVD, VCR and CD player, fully equipped kitchen, dining area will seat up to 8, breakfast bar seats 3, microwave, dishwasher, 25 cu.ft. refrigerator, ice maker, ceramic-top range/oven, lots of pots, pans, crockpots, coffeemaker, blender, toaster, cooking & baking utensils, casserole dishes, margarita,& martini glasses, glasses and dishes for 12. Lots of spices, herbs, and condiments for your use. Linens and towels are provided, also kitchen, laundry, and bath soaps and paper products. A washer & dryer, iron & ironing board are located in the laundry room. We have a softwater-conditioner, a large gas BBQ grill, and patio furniture on a covered wrap-around deck. Activities (on site or nearby): There are many Hiking, Biking, & ATV trails in and surrounding Cloudcroft. Cloudcroft has Two Golf Courses, Four Tennis Courts, Fishing, Hunting, Wildlife Viewing, Horseback Riding, Shopping, Restaurants, Live Theater, Mountain Climbing, Museums, Downhill Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Snowmobiling, Sledding, Tubing, an Ice Skating Rink, and the Sunspot National Solar Observatory. Cloudcroft has numerous events and festivals during the year. Nearby, there is Miniature Golf, Tennis, Two Performing Arts Theaters, Casinos, Horseracing, Ski Apache, Dinner Theater, The New Mexico Museum of Space History, White Sands National Monument, IMAX Dome Theater, A Zoo, Cinemas, The Toy Train Depot and Kid's Kingdom. Places such as, Las Cruces, La Mesilla, El Paso Carlsbad Caverns, Valley of Fire, Roswell, and Mexico are within easy reach of our cabin.
