A special message from owners, Ty and Sandy Nelson...
We purchased A Log Heaven brand new in 2001 and it was love at first sight! Ty and I are originally from Chicago and the thought of owning a real log cabin in the Smoky Mountains excited us beyond belief. The beautiful country heart pine wood floors, tongue and groove log interior, green metal roof and the enormous 25' vaulted ceiling with huge exposed beams took our breathe away.
We bought our log heaven for all the folks out there just like us who would love to experience a log home ... and appreciate the privacy ... tucked back in the woods ... with only nature and wildlife for neighbors.....
Discover or rediscover the Great Smoky Mountains...and all the fun and activities the area has to offer... and enjoy our extremely comfortable log and stone vacation home.
Honeymooners, those celebrating second honeymoons, anniversaries and all the special occasions...especially love our privacy and beautifully landscaped setting. A Log Heaven is perfect for a Couples Getaway...romantic and secluded! It's also perfect for a Girlfriends Getaway...so many things to do...and that's without leaving the cabin! But most of all...Log Heaven is perfect for families....families that want to create unforgettable memories of time spent together.
Located only a few minutes from Bryson City, we offer a great location...(we think the best location of all)... right in the midst of everything ... an easily accessible road (that means you don't have to drive a 4-wheel drive vehicle), a driveway we've just paved, wonderful views that you will fall in love with, and nature and seclusion at its best... Recent guests were thrilled to discover deer in our back yard!!
With a large great room that has a 25' vaulted ceiling and exposed beams, an open floor plan, two bedrooms plus a large sleeping loft with French doors to a Juliet balcony overlooking beautiful sunset views, two bathrooms, a large screened porch with a ping-pong table and a front covered porch with rockers and swing... (both porches are on the second floor where you will enjoy the wonderful mountain breezes) and because we love games, we have a mini-game room with foosball and electronic darts ...we also have a large hot tub for adults use on our landscaped patio and a wood burning portable fire pit in the back yard.
We are just a few minutes away from Bryson City... known as the "Outdoor Adventure" capital of the Great Smoky Mountains. Bryson City is a "real" town...it isn't overrun with tourists, and it has it's own special quaintness and charm. With the terrain, outfitters and guides, Bryson City qualifies as the center of outdoor adventure in the Southeast. For four decades, the Nantahala Outdoor Center in Bryson City has provided rafting, paddling instruction, and supplies to adventurers of all ages.
We are centrally located for all of the Smoky Mountain activities! Bryson City offers unparalleled views, along with miles of hiking and biking trails (hike the Appalachian Trail...it is only 10 minutes from Log Heaven), mountain golf at the Smoky Mountain Country Club and the scenic Great Smoky Mountain Railroad. Nearby Fontana Lake is a beautiful mountain lake where you can swim, fish, and rent a pontoon boat for either half or the entire day.
Also nearby is the Nantahala Outdoor Center for white-water rafting and kayaking, horseback riding, and the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. Some of the most strenuous and scenic mountain biking trails in the east are found in the Tsali Recreation Area near Bryson City, Cherokee (where you can try your luck at Harrah's Casino or go to the wonderful new movie theatre), Gem Mining, and Deep Creek for tubing, hiking, horseback riding and picnics. Western North Carolina is absolutely great for flea-markets and antiquing ...and... maybe best of all, Ingles Supermarket is only minutes away.
Just throw the pressures and stress of your everyday life away, come to the mountains and enjoy unwinding and relaxing ....

Come to Log Heaven for a Fun, Affordable and Relaxing Vacation
Year Purchased: 2001
Why the Owner Chose Bryson City
In 2001, it seemed like a great idea to invest in vacation real estate. We had built Retreat in the Sky, our vacation home, three years previously and we had begun renting it to vacation guests with much success. We searched and seached to find another vacation home that guests would love and take good care of like it was their own, and that would be a good investment for us. When we found Log Heaven, it was exactly what we were looking for.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
Log Heaven has so many outdoor spaces sometimes we just don't know where we want to "be". Our choices include; a covered front porch, a large screened porch, or...our patio with hot tub. Our location is close to Ingles and the town of Bryson City. We still pinch ourselves that we found the perfect vacation home for us and for our guests!
Owner's Map of Bryson City
Even though we are originally from Chicago, we now live in Columbia, SC. I guess you could say we also live in Bryson City, NC because we spend so much of our time there. We love to hike and the Appalachian Trail and Deep Creek are some of our favorite places. We also love nature and enjoy all the deer, owl, turkey and rabbit sightings on our property. Mostly, we just like to hang out...do some gardening, reading, enjoy our family, play games, and relax in the hot tub.

If you wish to escape the hustle and bustle and hectic pace of your everyday life, you can find no better place than the idyllic “Log Heaven”. It is cozy, inviting, and set in the tranquil NC Mountains. The comfortable furniture and artful decorations enhanced our ability to relax and unwind. Waking up to only the sounds of the birds was a special treat. If you do want to “escape” the peaceful setting, nearby Bryson City offers many activities (golf, rafting, tubing, and Zip Lines) and excellent restaurants (Jimmy Macs was a favorite). Sandy and Ty are great hosts and their “Log Heaven” is appropriately named. Mike and Elaine Carnes Pageland, S.C.
Owner response:Thank you Mike and Elaine....we loved having you as guests! Am so glad you enjoyed the zipling and the golf. Jimmy Mac's is one of our favorites too...we love the fried shrimp and burgers!! We hope you'll come back next year...Ty and Sandy

What a beautiful home!! I've had the pleasure of staying here twice now and I can't wait to go back for more!! Sandy and Ty are very nice people and go out of their way to make sure everything is what we expected... which by the way... was WAY MORE than I expected!! This cabin is the prettiest, and has the best feeling of comfort that I have had the pleasure to be in .... and it has that down- home feeling about it!! The pictures don't even compare to the awesomeness of this cabin! Thank you Sandy & Ty !!!

Our family spent a *great* weekend a A Log Heaven. With plenty to do in the area, we still were tempted to just hang out enjoying your lovely home! The kids could have spent every moment playing foosball, swinging on the tire swing, and playing ping pong. The hot tub was a toasty retreat once the evening settled down. We are all looking forward to our next trip. Thanks for the great vacation house!

We were delighted to spend two weeks at Log Heaven, the best vacation home we have enjoyed. Two weeks, too long? Not at all. With the abundance of things to do, we were full of action and joy -- balanced by the tranquility, beauty and pleasure of Log Heaven. A snapshot: With two boys, my wife and I brought down 7 bikes and a kayak (and rented more) from DC; we mountain biked at Tsali; hiked on the AT and in Joyce Kilmer; kayaked and rafted on the Nantahala and Tuckaseigee; road biked hundreds of miles on beautiful mountain routes (some even flat); and swam in Fontana Lake. A stone's through away, my wife enjoyed yoga and massages at Lakeview. Many great meals, in the cabin and out. We've taken many vacations with our two boys, and Log Heaven and the surrounding Smokies will be cherised for many, many years. Thank you Ty and Sandy for availing your lovely home to guests and families. PS -- You can see pictures from our vacation at jamesrwilson[.]com[/]northcarolina
Owner response:Jim, We hear Tsali calling your name. Tsali wants you to come back!! And....Ty and Sandy would love for you to come back as well.

Location, location, location! This very comfortable house is close to the National Park and Fontana Lake while only a three hour trip from Atlanta. Lots to do in the area but very comfortable for a relaxing vacation day at "home away from home" too. Loved the hot tub!!

My family recently enjoyed a wonderful weekend in A Log Heaven. Log Heaven is a beautiful cabin nestled in the Smoky Mountains. It is a great place to create family memories - much better than staying in a hotel. Our daughter fell in love with the loft (complete with a balcony), while our son made himself comfortable in the basement. A Log Heaven is a great place to use as a base for activities, such as rafting the Nantahala or visiting Cherokee. Despite being nestled in the woods, it only takes few minutes to get to the highway, and a few more to reach Byrson City or Cherokee. There are lots of fun things to do in the cabin: My kids and I enjoyed ping pong on the screened-in porch, and playing foosball and darts downstairs. The point is, it's just a fun place to hang out. It is also beautifully decorated with all sorts of interesting things, so you have a lot of fun just looking around. The weekend we were there had a lot of rain, and one of our nighttime activities got rained out. But it didn't really matter - Log Heaven is so comfortable we just went back and enjoyed talking and eating ice cream on the porch, and listening to the rain in the trees. If you want to create memories for your family, A Log Heaven is a great place to go. We will long remember our time there.

What a way to spend my 40th Birthday! I had a blast at your "Log Heaven". You could not have picked a better name. We fell in love with it the moment we pulled into the driveway. I LOVED the privacy. The cabin is very secluded yet close to shopping, grocery store, and downtown Bryson City. I loved everything about the cabin. The porches, hot tub, landscaping, ping pong table, darts, foosball, and most of all the feather bed in the master bedroom. This cabin is a perfect honeymoon location, as well as family get togethers, anniversaries, or just a weekend out for the girls. We stayed busy all weekend (May18-21). We did the railroad, Clingman's Dome, Road to Nowhere, Hiking to the waterfalls in the Great Smoky MTN National Forest, and Fontana Dam. You have to go to Soda Pops and have some ice cream and play the old juke box with the 45 records. The only thing I can say negative, is that I did not get to spend the amount of time "at home" in the cabin. The next time we go we plan on never leaving the cabin and taking full advantage of the peaceful home and all of its amenities. We loved it!!! Thank you Sandy and Ty for allowing us to share your home.

What a fabulous vacation! There is lots to do in the area if you want, but if not, this is a wonderful vacation home! It is new & clean, but has a terrific woodsy, cabin decor...not to mention the beautiful porches, landscaped yard, hot tub, ping pong, & foosball! We felt like we were miles from it all, but it was very easy to get to the store & and everything else. Terrific location! Sandy & Ty, thanks for sharing your wonderful home!

Dear Sandy and Ty, Thank you so much for having the idea to buy this place! We love it!!!!! We just got back from town and the grocery store. We are stocked up and ready for a great week! Can't wait to try out the fireplace tonight. I cannot wait to tell my family about this place. It would make a great family vacation. I hear the hot tub calling my name... Today we went horseback riding...we got a late start this a.m....woke up at 11:00 am. What a rainy day...we have lost power...we think it's fun without any power. We have the fireplace and many candles! The temp is around 60 degrees and it feels great. Since the weather is in a bad mood...we will shop today. Tomorrow is boat rental day, fun, fun, fun! I love this place !!! I am so relaxed. Another beautiful day. Just right for boating! I think I'll stop here... I have used a lot of paper. Thank you again...we love it here!

After driving through a windy and wild summer storm, we were relieved to pull into the driveway and see such a welcoming home! As it was still raining quite heavily, we ran inside to see our quarters...and downstairs heard a noise that resembled a babies cry. We looked out the back door, and there in the rain, stood a fawn - it was tiny, and had wobbley legs - and just looked at us! Suddenly the mother appeared with a sibling - she cautiously called it from the cover of a thicket. To our amazement, out ran a sibling right to the door where we stood. Then they all climbed to the hill above us! We will never forget that moment!
