Gorgeous Oceanfront Kahana Beach 1 Free Night and a Piano Too!

  Pros: 10/10 spectacular view worth million dollars 10/10: nice dishwasher and refrigerator are of great help! Plenty of Kleenex. Cons: 7/10 cleanliness: Termite-like insects found on curtain by piano by the dozens. Found lots of wings by the sliding door track. Removed with vacuum cleaner, but they slowly show up. Closet inside bedroom by main entrance should use some clean up. Window screens inside bedroom facing the ocean is rather dusty that needs cleaning. 7/10 comfort. Bedroom by main entrance practically has no noise insulation. You can hear all the giggles and conversations from people walking by, sometimes as late as 2:00am. One of the glass of the window is transparent, so the curtain has to be closed for privacy which does not allow for natural light during the day. The mattress in the bedroom by the window has terrible spring. I wake up really sore joint/muscle every morning. Washer/dryer is very noisy. I'd suggest to install a door by the kitchen to minimize it. 5/10 equipment: bathroom inside the master bedroom by main entrance has a defective toilet which leaks water to the floor after every flush. Air conditioner is rather weak. The one inside bedroom by main entrance doesn't seem to work at all other then just generating noise. 80s Sofa and 80s bedspread are functional but can consider an update to improve overall clean feel. TV signal has tons of snow. I'd suggest to add an inexpensive amplifier to the incoming cable signal before splitting it to different rooms. Internet connection is Stone Age. Speed was measured to be ~500kbps. This might be related to the phone line condition or the twisted pair at the hub. Someone should contact the DSL provider to check it out. The patio fence metal bar seems not very sturdy with signs of rust by the joint area. Someone should inspect mechanical reliability before accident happens.

  Owner response: We appreciate your constructive feedback and can assure that we are taking immediate steps to remedy those issues that we were able to substantiate. AC temps were checked by HVAC techs who confirmed they were working properly with correct readings when all the doors were sealed shut properly. New windows are being installed in the guest bedroom (we hope will correct the noise issue), we've removed the armoire that we suspect was carrying wood ants, the cleaniliness issues were addressed with our cleaning service provider. Our living room furniture was purchased at one of the leading design companies here on Maui in 2007 (not the 80's):) We'll continue with improvements as usual.   We just got back from staying here and enjoyed it so much so that we hope to go back next winter. The unit was spacious and was stocked with everything we needed. The best thing about this unit is the view! We spent a lot of time on the large wrap around lanai watching whales, turtles and sunsets. It's so close to the ocean that you can hear the waves from almost every part of the unit. I would definitely recommend anyone staying here and we hope to be back soon

  We come to Maui every 2 years. Each time we like to stay at a different location. This will be our final one if this condo is free we have found our heaven. Thanks for sharing.The pictures do not do it justice. Its beautiful, comfortable and for 2 weeks felt like home. The view is OUTSTANDING. We saw a baby shark, 2 rays, many turtles and dolphines swimming in the cove.Today is our last day and we plan to stay here on the beach and enjoy every last second. Oh and the reports you read about the green slime on the beach. Never saw any the water was clear and clean and a great swim.

  We only just checked in yesterday evening and already I'm figuring out when I can come back! This unit is fantastic! The wrap around lanai poised just above the lapping waves of the ocean comes with wrap around sliding glass windows and doors so ocean views are visible from every angle and Maui breezes fill the room condo. Who needs an AC? And what a view to match!! Turquoise waters, white sandy beaches, green lawn...it's a little piece of paradise! The furnishings are very soft and comfortable, inside and on the lanai. I also love the tiles in the living spaces, which stay cool on the feet and the carpted bedrooms are soft and add coziness when you're ready for bed. They even have snorkeling gear! The only downside, I wish there was wi-fi or an ethernet cable location that allowed me to sit on the couch or at a desk with my three prong computer plugged in simultaneously. I'm currently writing this review from the entry floor (I could have brought a chair over here, but the floor is just fine). Ah, but aside from staying on top of work stuff while away, I'd much rather be enjoying the views than typing on the computer. :) Wifi would be a super upgrade though. :) Nevertheless, these unit owners have certainly earned a client for life in me!!! I will be back, again and again....they can count on it!! FIVE GREAT BIG STARS!!!

  I should have left this review a while ago.. My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon in September 2011. The condo is absolutely beautiful and we wish we could have stayed for longer than one week. The lanai was amazing and I could spend a lot of time out there. The Royal Kahana itself is very nice too. I love the beach there. It was perfectly fine for swimming. I actually enjoyed swimming there more than I enjoyed it at Kapalua Beach. The pool is the warmest pool I have ever been in. It was very relaxing. The location of this condo is in a very nice, convenient area. I really can't say enough about this place. We wish we could move into this condo. We never wanted to leave!! Very recommended and when we come back to Maui, we will be staying here again.

  We stayed in this property in June 2011. We totally enjoyed our stay. The photos are very accurate and we enjoyed the views. The outdoor furniture was very comfortable and watched a giant turtle down on the beach! The kitchen was stocked well enough to make any meal and we BBQ'ed a couple of times down on the community bbq's (which were clean and worked perfectly). The furniture was comfortable and we felt right at home. The beds were comfortable and bedrooms are good size and they have king size beds.....lovely! We loved having internet.....just plugged my laptop in and we were on-line....no extra charge. Because this property has an entry code system on the door, you never have to fumble for keys and you have the code prior to arrival so you just show up and punch the code in! So nice not to have to fill out paperwork and wait in line! Just pull into the parking lot (which has free parking and lots of spaces), go to your condo on the 5th floor and punch the code and your in! Easy, easy! We did not opt for housekeeping, we just kept it up ourselves and there was brooms and dust pans so it was not a problem. The tile floors were a cinch to keep up. We would stay in this condo again as it is perfectly located. It is about 15 minutes to Lahiana for shopping and about 5 minutes to Kapalua Bay for snorkling. Oh we also loved having a washer and dryer available! Loved coming home and unpacking clean clothes! This property is a good value for the money. Enjoy!

  Just wanted to say that we really enjoyed the condo. The view was spectacular. The condo was cleaned very nicely, especially the windows/doors to the outside. When we first got there my son couldn't even tell that it wasn't open and walked right into it LOL (he's only 3) We would definitely rent it again.

  Just returned from vacationing in this condo. Great location! The BEST view. I will miss watching the whales over coffee each morning. Only negative is the upkeep of this building. The AC did not work properly and we call several times but in the end the AC in this building is old and needs to be replaced. Although the vents in all areas in the unit were dirty and gross. Furniture were very nice and the beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms and kitchen need some serious updating. But the owners have put tile in the large areas and is much nicer than the carpet in the bedrooms. Overall, nice unit and AC doesn't work which was a bummer.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+.

  We stayed here in May and have already reserved it for the same date next year. The location was described accurately, the photos were right on. Everything was as described. It was totally clean and well maintained.We were there for our 50th anniversary and with my daughter and her family. My daughter and her husband went to local restaurants. We had a minor repair needed and it was done immediately. I would definitely recommend this one to people of all ages. It is gorgeous! Being directly on the ocean is fabulous. We didn't do many activities, we just wanted to sit and stare at the ocean. We were there 9 days.
