The property owners are beyond helpful for new comers/travelers to the area. I've had an absolute blast in their apartment. It was warm, furnished to the max and has an excellent location. Far enough to get out of Breck but close enough to walk on a nice day. Definitely loved it and I would go back again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a great stay at the Tarn View house. The accommodations were clean, spacious and accurately described. It was only 5 minutes away from the shuttle to ski areas and yet remotely set in a mountain setting to enjoy the peace and quiet of a private home. I sat on the patio and watched an amazing bird show, sipping on my coffee in the mornings, so much better than the hustle and bustle of downtown. Gene Copeland was an amazing host, offering warm hospitality and expert advice on the area and how to best enjoy our short vacation.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

The place is exactly as described. Gene and Jo are gracious hosts that have thought of everything down to the shopper’s cards for the local grocery stores. The place is setup like a one bedroom studio apartment. It's not huge, but had more than enough space, beds, seating, etc. for 3 guys to stay comfortably. We never felt like the place was too small. The place is connected to the main home, but is located perfectly so that it doesn't feel like it. It's less than 5 minutes outside of town. It has that mountain cabin feeling of nature and seclusion, but you have quick access to town. The views of the surrounding peaks, forest, and the lake are great for the soul. I plan to return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We are a family of 4 with 2 teenage sons. We have been to Breckenridge several times and stayed in Ski in/Ski out type places. While those were nice and had their benefits, I can say without hesitation that our stay at the Suite at Tarn View was better. The accomodations were fantastic! The Suite has all the creature comforts of home and Gene and Jo went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The Suite is spacious, comfortable, extremely well organized and warm. We plan on traeling to Breckenridge in the summer and will stay at the Suite at Tarn View. In fact, we see no need to ever look for another place to stay in Breckenridge now that we've found Gene and Jo's place.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I spent a week of our honeymoon trip at Tarn View House over christmas. This was our second stay at Tarn View House (we stayed there our Labor day weekend also), and was an excellent base for our christmas skiing trip. The suite even more beautiful in the snow! We took advantage of our epic mix pass and skied Keystone and Beaver Creek in addition to Breckenridge, and we also did some snowshoeing pretty close to Tarn View House (thanks to Gene for the snowshoes!). The suite has everything you would need after a day of skiing, including a steam room which really helped after a tough day on the slopes!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed at the suite at Tarn View House over Labor day weekend, and it really exceeded our expectations. The suite is located in a beautiful setting about 1-2 miles outside Breckenridge. It was a prefect base from which to hike Mount Quandary (the trail head is about 3 miles away from the Suite) and to explore Breckenridge, Frisco and Vail. We will be returning to Breckenridge at christmas for the skiing season and will be staying at the suite again-we are already really excited about our return trip. The suite really is like a home away from home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We arrived from Texas where temperatures in August are consistently over 100 degrees. It was so refreshing to experience daytime highs in the 70's, just what we were hoping for. Upon arriving at The Suite at Tarn House, we were welcomed by the owners and settled into the suite for our weeks vacation. This studio was everything described in the listing and more. This property is just a couple of miles out of town and is in a quite residential area, which was nice for us, as we wanted to be out of the hustle bustle of being in town. The suite is meticulously clean, nicely decorated having a well appointed kitchen and bath, large TV and internet access. The private deck has beautiful flowering plants and is teaming with small wildlife such as chipmunks, birds and squirrels. Nearly everything you need for your stay is provided, aside from your personal items. The owners are so charming and hospitable as well as helpful. They know the area very well and provide excellent suggestions for just about anything you are interested in doing. We had a great time exploring the area of Breckenridge. It is truly a beuatiful, majestic area and we will definitely return to explore more of this hidden gem.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We decided to take a short respite in the beautiful Breckenridge area at the last minute and phoned Gene the day before leaving home. Fortunately for us the Suite at Tarn View House happened to be available for the two nights we wanted. What a serendipitous find! After arriving we quickly booked a third night that was not yet taken, and would have stayed the rest of the summer had it been possible. After reading the guest reviews we wondered if perhaps people weren't being a bit too generous in their assessments of the Suite, but we found everything to be exactly as described. It was the perfect place in the perfect location for our needs. Our host, Gene, could not have been more hospitable. We enjoy our privacy and the Suite was situated such that we felt we were in our own retreat, yet Gene was only a phone call away should we have needed anything. The Suite was spotlessly clean and well-appointed with everything we needed. We thoroughly enjoyed looking out and seeing the birds, chipmunks and other little critters coming to the feeders outside our patio. The location of the Suite was great for the activities we enjoyed in the area--a short distance to Breckenridge for shopping and dining, and close to the place where we rented 4-wheeled ATV's for exploring the trails in the mountains. (Note: We don't cook while on vacation, but the Suite had everything one needed to do that, including a large propane grill on the patio). Without hesitation we would recommend this property to anyone we know, and all vacationers seeking a lovely place to stay in an area that has so much to offer.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a beautiful place! The lodging was exceeptional clean, adorably decorated, peaceful, serene, yet close to everything. The owners went out o their way to accommodate us, even offering my son and I rides into town, knowing we were there visiting my daughter, and having no car of our own. Although we never tapped into this generous offer, how heartwarming for them to even consider it. We loved it there and hope on our return, it is available. The is a great location just outside of town - quiet, comfortable, room to stretch (good for kids). The setup and space let us crash in the evening, use the kitchen for our own meal and late night snack, awake to the birds, etc. You will appreciate the chance to unwind, and the good value without any tradeoffs (quite the contrary, the rental exceeds the amenities of the typical cookie cutter condo). We are from the Boulder area and planned a girls get away weekend in Breckenridge. Our stay at the Tarn View House exceeded our expectations. Everything from the initial point of contact was extremely detailed and thorough. Gene and Jo have thought of every detail to make the stay enjoyable. The location was close to downtown Breckenridge but far enough away to feel like you were in your own private mountain town. It was quiet and peaceful and very comfortable. We have stayed at many locations in the Breckenridge area over the years and this was the most comfortable place along with a very reasonable price. We've just spent nearly 4 weeks in Colorado and of all the places we've sampled, The Suite at Tarn View House was by far the best. The location is very close to town, a beautiful spot next to a frozen lake. The privacy and tranquility was excellent. The accommodation itself had every convenience you could wish for including the hosts, who are really nice and friendly people, happy to help out with whatever you need. We will return to Breckenridge and we will stay here again.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Adrian and Katie, Thanks for your kind words. If I did not mention it earlier, we did enjoy the Gnarly Dudes wine. It was special and has created a new fan for the vineyard. Do let us know if we can ever do anything for you prior to your next visit to Colorado's high country. All our best wishes to the both of you. Gene and Jo

Tarn View House was the perfect location for a ski weekend. There was plenty of space for us and having a kitchen for making breakfast was perfect. Would love to come back in the summer to take advantage of the cute patio. Thanks for making our stay a good one. We have just had the pleasure of a nine night stay in the Tarn View Suite. In a stunning location in the woods above Breckenridge, the suite has everything for a wonderful vacation. Despite record low temperatures (-29 F) the accommodation was cosy and warm in every sense. The owners Gene & Jo were brilliant, providing a warm welcome and attention when required. We have stayed in Breckenridge a few times but Tarn View exceeded our expectations and we have promised to return. Thanks for a making it a brilliant holiday, John &Sue - Yorkshire, EnglandRecommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My son and I stayed from Sunday to Friday. It was one of the most beautiful places that I have ever stayed. For a studio apartment it had every thing needed, from the coffee to the robes. I felt as if a was staying with a friend, not renting. Jean and Jo were so nice and made us feel like old friends that were coming to stay. I normally don’t take the time to leave a revue, this time I had to. Thank you Jean and Jo, see you as soon as possible Rick DougalRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The Tarn View House was a very cute and cozy property. The location is close enough to the slopes yet still private. The unit was very clean and had all the necessities. Gene and Jo were very accomodating and provided lots of information on the nearby attractions and activities. We had a great experience and would not mind staying there again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers
