"The Forest House" on Enchanting Wooded Property with Peak Views and Hot Tub
Location: Divide, South Central, Colorado, USA (Located off Hwy67 between Divide and Cripple Creek)
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)
We have named our mountain home "The Forest House" because of the enchanting and magical nature of the heavily wooded property with groves of aspen and pine. Deer and fox are frequent visitors to forage on the many varieties of wildflowers and wild raspberries. If you are fortunate, you may even see a bear!
From the secluded, large back deck, you can relax in the private hot tub and watch the squirrels at play and observe many species of the winged one from a true "birds eye view". Yet, your mountain retreat is easily accessible on a county maintained road, less than 1 mile off the main highway and midway between Divide and Cripple Creek, on the back of majestic Pikes Peak.
You are in the center of vacation paradise, with so much to do that you will want to come back again and again to experience all that this area has to offer! You are surrounded by state parks, hiking trails and back country 4-wheel roads. Even so, wonderful restaurants and attractions are only a short drive away as you are only 10 miles from historical Cripple Creek, 20 minutes from Woodland Park and 35 minutes from Manitou Springs.
The home, built in 1997, has been newly painted and warmly decorated with Southwestern and Mountain art. At the end of a busy day, as you relax in the comfy, overstuffed sofa and warm by the crackling fire in the wood-burning fireplace, you can enjoy all the comforts of home with dish TV and a selection of DVD and VCR movies to watch. The bedding is comfortably set up with 2 Queens and 2 Twins, all with new pillow-top mattresses.
Two extra twin mattresses are available in the 3rd bedroom for creative sleeping options. The Master suite features double sinks and a garden tub and is decorated in a beautiful mix of old and new with the highlight being an oak highboy dresser with a marble top. The bed is warm and cozy with a down comforter and duvet set and the heavy pine rocker, with a 30 year history of soothing many fretful babies, is perfect for your morning cup of tea or an afternoon novel.
This mountain home is the perfect get-away to experience Colorado at its best, all Four Seasons of the year!!

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1997
Gay and Gary Liberty have recently moved to Woodland Park and personally manage and maintain their three vacation rental cabins in the Pikes Peak area. Gary is retired from Air Force Reserves and his civil service career as an aircraft mechanic. Gay has many years of experience in the hospitality field in both resort marketing and hotel reservations and front desk. They are delighted to share their love of the Colorado mountains and their love of each special cabin setting to ensure a memorable and relaxing vacation experience for their guests.
Why the Owner Chose Divide
Gay had The Forest House built as a home for herself and her youngest son when she was newly divorced. She had already been living in Divide and Rainbow Valley since 1992...actually on the same street! She maintains many wonderful memories of this cabin as her home and can also tell some funny and not so funny stories about how she and her son were nearly homeless when the construction was behind schedule. Her two sons built the large back deck and she transplanted the wild raspberry bushes and built the rock planters herself...obviously with no prior experience! Gay left in 2001 and rented the cabin conventionally for a few years as she had married Gary and moved to his "house on the prairie" in Peyton, CO. In 2005, after some disappointing rentors, Gay and Gary decided to make it into a vacation rental and her old home was her own once again!
The Unique Benefits of this House
Gay's favorite memories of life at The Forest House center around being able to just wander off into the woods at a whim, in any direction! Gay knows all the little back ways to trails, and passages that really aren't trails, in the area! She learned the names of all the wildflowers and the mushrooms too. When the mushrooms are prolific, all the freezer space disappears and you would also find mushrooms drying all over the back porch! Of course, Gary isn't too keen on this as he never knows what is going to be disguised in his dinner! Gay and Gary love to stay here when they can and take leisurely walks, even if just the loop that the road makes. Another great memory about life at The Forest House is sleeping with all the window shades wide open and waking to the rosy pink glow of the "coupling" in the morning when all of a sudden all the birds start to sing. Also, this cabin was the childhood home of our springer spaniel, Tucker, who is now almost nine years old!

Thanks for the email, Gay! We enjoyed the Forest House very much. Absolutely beautiful! I think we were very fortunate not to have that big snow storm the weekend we were there. The next time we plan a trip southwest, we hope to be able to stay in the Baby Bear Cabin. That way we can experience all 3 of your properties. Thanks again for the use of the cabin................it was a nice family get-away. Denise

Hi Gay and Gary, We will be coming back again. We love the location of both places. You have really done a nice job of providing all of the amenities and making each home a warm and welcoming environment. Thanks for your open and welcoming spirit for our dog as well. She is an integral part of our family unit. I continue to recommend your places to others. I don't mind cleaning up after myself, especially when I don't have to pay a cleaning fee! Many thanks to you as well. Our vacations in your rentals have been restorative and relaxing. It is nice to be able to count on having everything we need.

Hi Gay! We're back home in Indiana (we almost had to take a boat due to all the flooding!). I just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time at your cabin and hope to return again! The cabin was beautiful and I hope we didn't overlook any messes! We really enjoyed the hot tub and the scenery. We did some hiking in the woods and walked through the entire neighborhood. We took a drive through Cripple Creek and Phantom Canyon Road -wow! Thanks so much!

Good Morning, We had a wonderful relaxing time, watched the fireworks Cripple Creek offered, did some hiking, and lots of fishing. Your mountain home is very nice, clean, and quiet. We are glad you ate the fish. We had fish a couple of meals; good fishing this year. Thank you and we hope you have fun vacations too, Jim and Susan

Gay, Thank you so much letting us stay in your beautiful home. We enjoyed it so much that we are already talking about going back. I kept all of your house information so that when we do decide to go back we will be able to just call you and skip all of the looking around for a place to stay. We loved it so much and I really hope that we will be able to go back really soon. Thank you! Kari Alvarado

Thank you for having us! We did have a great time and certainly plan to visit again! The boys bought a nerf gun set while we were there and had fun playing outside the house..hiding behind trees ,ect so if you find any foam bullets around you know where they came from :-) We also had a deer family come and hang around the cabin one morning! That was really fun! I will have to send you the pictures I got of them...perfect for your website when promoting the house :-) Martha
