THE FOREST HOUSE: We have named our mountain home because of the enchanting and magical nature of the heavily wooded property with groves of aspen and pine. Deer and fox are frequent visitors to forage on the many varieties of wildflowers and wild raspberries. If you are fortunate, you may even see a bear! From the secluded, large back deck you can watch the squirrels at play and observe many species of the winged ones from a true 'birds eye view'. Yet, your mountain retreat is easily accessible on a county maintained road, less than a mile off the main highway and midway between Divide and Cripple Creek, on the back of majestic Pikes Peak.
You are in the center of vacation paradise, with so much to do that you will want to come back again and again to experience all this area has to offer! You are surrounded by state parks, hiking trails and back country 4-Wheel roads.
Wonderful restaurants and attractions are only a short drive away as you are only 10 miles from historical Cripple Creek, 20 minutes from Woodland Park and 35 minutes from Manitou Springs.
The home has been newly painted and warmly decorated with Southwestern and Mountain art. At the end of a busy day, as you relax in the comfy, overstuffed sofa and warm by the crackling fire in the wood-burning fireplace, you can enjoy all the comforts of home with dish TV and a selection of DVD and VCR movies to watch. The bedding is comfortably set up with 2 Queens and 2 Twins, all with new pillow-top mattresses. The master suite features double sinks and a garden tub and is decorated in a beautiful mix of old and new with the highlight being an oak highboy dresser with a marble top. The bed is warm and cozy with a down comforter and duvet set. The heavy pine rocker, with a 30 year history of soothing many fretful babes, is perfect for your morning cup of tea.
This mountain home is the perfect getaway to experience Colorado at its best, all Four Seasons of the year!!!
AMENITIES: Complete kitchen including coffee, tea, spices, foil and plastic wrap, dishwasher and microwave, washer/dryer, local phone, TV in living room and the master, VCR/DVD, wood-burning fireplace, gas BBQ grill, deck furniture, all towels and linens provided.

We had a great stay. The cabin is secluded, the scenery is beautiful and the cabin was very nice. We have AT&T for our cell provider and there was no reception and no high speed or broadband internet access. These things were ok with us because it kept us from the temptation of working while we were on vacation. There is satellite TV but almost all of the channels said "not subscribed to or paid for", so your selection of what to watch is very limited. There is a small cleaning fee and you are expected to wash towels and bedding, wipe down sinks, counters, sweep floors, etc. None of these things were deal breakers for us they are just things to be aware of if you want to stay here. The owners where very nice and allowed us to check in at 1:00 instead of 3:00 since noone was scheduled to be there the day before. We had a wonderful, restful stay.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Had a wonderful time at the Forest House. Owners were super to deal with. The house was exactly as pictured. Very easy to find. Short drive to Colorado Spring or Cripple Creek. Lots of room that we never felt crowded. Highly recommend this place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you so much enjoyed having you and we hope you will come back...how about summer!!!

We stayed in this lovely home over Christmas. It was perfect, except more snow would have been nicer! '') The hot tub was a very nice treat. Everything you needed to cook was right at your finger tips. There were several local area attractions near by, including a town with grocery stores (Walmart). It was perfect for my family, we had a BLAST and will most likely vacation here again. Oh and our dogs loved it too! I have already recommended it to several family and friends! '')Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.

We took our 2 kids to Colorado for their first visit and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. Everything was within a 15-20 minute drive from the house and it was so nice to come back "home" in the evenings and relax on the deck. The description of the house is very accurate, the views are spectacular and we had everything we needed. We can't wait to go back again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Hi Gay, The race was great this year. Temps were cool and the sun was shining. No afternoon showers or thunderstorms. We all had personal best times on the Peak this year. The cabin was a great place to relax before and after the race. Thanks again for such a nice place to stay. Brent WilsonDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thanks to you, too, for providing such a clean, well-equipped, and relaxing hideaway for our vacation! We've had a very busy year and your "Forest House" was the perfect escape for us. The birds were quite enchanting, we spent a great deal of time on the deck watching and listening. Hopefully we'll visit again soon. Best wishes! DunniganDid you find this review helpful? About the owner: Gay and Gary Liberty have recently moved to Woodland Park and personally manage and maintain their three vacation rental cabins in the Pikes Peak area. Gary is retired from Air Force Reserves and his civil service career as an aircraft mechanic. Gay has many years of experience in the hospitality field in both resort marketing and hotel reservations and front desk. They are delighted to share their love of the Colorado mountains and their love of each special cabin setting to ensure a memorable and relaxing vacation experience for their guests.
Why the Owner Chose Divide:
Gay had The Forest House built as a home for herself and her youngest son when she was newly divorced. She had already been living in Divide and Rainbow Valley since 1992...actually on the same street! She maintains many wonderful memories of this cabin as her home and can also tell some funny and not so funny stories about how she and her son were nearly homeless when the construction was behind schedule. Her two sons built the large back deck and she transplanted the wild raspberry bushes and built the rock planters herself...obviously with no prior experience! Gay left in 2001 and rented the cabin conventionally for a few years as she had married Gary and moved to his "house on the prairie" in Peyton, CO. In 2005, after some disappointing rentors, Gay and Gary decided to make it into a vacation rental and her old home was her own once again!
