If you're coming for a vacation in Seattle, stay at St. John's! Apartment 304 is a perfect for one or two couples or a family on vacation. There is one "master bedroom", a smaller "second" bedroom, and a really comfortable living/dining/kitchen space.
St John’s was built in 1910. It is a charming old building. There are two floors of apartments over several retail spaces at street level. (We have a deli and two restaurants downstairs in our building, plus a hair salon.) Apartment 304 is on the top floor and has a great view of Pike Street below.
The apartment has new paint, carpets and kitchen cabinets. The kitchen is smallish-it takes the length of one wall-but it works really well. There is a dining table seating four, and next to that a living area with couch and large stuffed chair. We have a TV with DVD and VCR and an extensive movie collection, CD Stereo and large, eclectic collection of music. The apartment has cable TV and wireless high speed internet.
The master bedroom has a California king bed (it's 6" longer than a regular king size bed...great for tall people.) The second bedroom has two single beds. These are "adult" singles: they're over the normal length of a single bed, and they're very comfortable!
We’re in a great location. The distance from St. John’s down to the center of Seattle's shopping district is only 10 blocks, the Pike Street Market is just 5 more. There are interesting stores, restaurants and businesses all along the way and it’s an easy walk.
We are in an area known as the Pike/Pine Corridor, so named because Pike and Pine Streets connect downtown with the residential neighborhoods of capitol hill. We're right in the middle of it. There are lots of small stores and boutiques along Pike. Across the street from us is a large QFC grocery store, open 24 hours. The convenience of the grocery across the street should not be underestimated: it’s nice to just walk over there and get anything you’d want. The store is quite large and truly world class, with a great selection of fresh produce, an excellent deli, bakery, lots of cheeses, and good selection of wines right in the store, and lots more! There is a large drugstore above the supermarket, plus a UPS store if you need to ship anything home, and a dry cleaners if you need a press before the big event. And there are bars and restaurants all around us. If you read our reviews you'll notice time and time again how people appreciate the location for it's convenience. It's a great base for any Seattle vacation!
We have a full-time, live-in manager, Johnny Sidorowicz, who takes care of checking people in and out. Johnny lives in apartment 200 and if there's every anything you need while you're with us, he's always ready to help.

Why the Owner Chose Capitol Hill
We began the search for our apartment building over two years before we found St. John's. We were very particular about the location, because we wanted something that would be extremely convenient for both daily living (like having the grocery store across the street) and also for travelers that want to walk to the convention center or downtown. Plus our neighborhood on Capitol Hill is one of the most up-and-coming areas in the city, full of vibrant life, food, night clubs, shops, galleries, it's all here, right around us.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
Elliot Bay Books is two and a half blocks away! This is Seattle's best bookstore, one-of-a-kind and wonderful! Right next to it is a very large music store, and next to that is OddFellows, which is a great place for breakfast or lunch. All of these are two blocks away, and there's much more to do in our neighborhood: but be sure to visit these shops, everyone loves them!
Owner's Map of Capitol Hill
St. John's is owned by Mark Chambers and Oda Egeland. We live in the country, about an hour from Seattle, and use the short terms apartments as our in-city get away when we come to town. We're both in our mid 50's, have retired from successful careers, love to travel and enjoy the finer things of life. We always stay in VRBO apartments when we travel. It is so much more fun, and typically much cheaper, than staying in hotels. When we began looking for an apartment building we wanted to have several units that we'd use for short term rental, simply because we thought it would be fun. And it has. We've met people from all around the world, and never had one bad experience. It's been great!

My husband, sister and I booked this cute little apartment for 3 days after an Alaskan Cruise. The location is very central, close to everything, and the apartment was the perfect size for 3 adults. It's a bit difficult to locate on the busy busy street, and the parking is around the back of the building. The apartment was spotless and in excellent condition. Newly remodeled, freshly painted and updated. The carpet was nice and clean and felt good on our bare feet. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets and pillows of high quality. The bath towels and wash clothes very thick and fluffy. Practically brand new. The apartment was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need and there were condiments and spices in the cabinet and fridge left over from other guests. There was a very comfortable loveseat in the living room and a wing back chair. Each bedroom also had it's own Flatscreen TV. The bedrooms had wall air conditioners, but the living room/dining room/kitchen combo did not, however, the bedroom a/c units did cool the entire house. The apartment is located on the top floor and is not handicapped accessible. It was difficult bringing up our luggage and groceries. The neighborhood is inner city. An eclectic mix of ethnic, gays, college kids, street people and tourists. There is quite a bit of night life, including police and fire sirens quite often. although, the apartment windows are new and kept most of the sounds to a minimum. There is a grocery store right across the street where you can buy your groceries, beer, wine, etc. The neighborhood is teeming with wonderful restaurants, we ate one of the best Mexican meals I have ever had in my life two blocks down the street. I do not recommend this apartment for elderly, handicapped, or people easily scared by inner city surroundings......I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone wishing to stay in the heart of Seattle and enjoy cultural diversity and a lively nightlife hot spot!
Owner response:Thanks Linda for the review! It's a very accurate description and we're glad you enjoyed the apartment. We've done everything we can to make the apartments comfortable and convenient--it feels really good to provide a totally first class experience! And your comments about the neighborhood are true-there's all kinds of people in the neighborhood, it's busy day and night. (Saturday nights are amazing!) We love this part of town, and that's one of the reasons. There is much to do, it's fun, and it's safe! There are lots of people coming and going to the restaurants, stores, etc. and that makes it a really safe and comfortable place to walk around. As far as finding us, the google map to St. John's is very accurate, everybody should use it. Since we are on Pike Street we're very easy to find. We ask all our guests to call Johnny, our apartment manager, when they get to the airport or off the boat or driving in, and he'll be there waiting to help with getting into the apartment etc. He's a great resource for neighborhood tips, too! Thanks again!

My husband and I, and our 7 year old son, stayed here for a few days in October and had a wonderful experience. The apartment is small, but well laid out, and there was room for all of us to stretch out and have our own space. The place was well-appointed with cookware, plenty of pantry staples, books, and videos. It's a longish but reasonable walk to downtown, or you can bus to all of Seattle's attractions with stops two blocks away. We never missed having a car. I absolutely loved having a grocery store across the street (a discount card was thoughtfully provided), but the neighborhood is also full of restaurants worth trying. The noise was never an issue except at bar time on weekends; it's part of the energy of the neighborhood, and there are white noise machines in the bedrooms which mask it well. Laundry, apartment-style, is available down the hall (bring quarters). WiFi was strong and reliable (the antenna is right outside the door). Finally, Johnny was a wonderful host and could not have been more accommodating. We all highly recommend this apartment!

We had the greatest vacation. The apartment is totally comfortable and in a fantastic location. Check out Molly Moon's around the corner for literally the best ice cream we've ever had. If you have kids the Seattle Children's Museum is a must. We can't wait to come back in the summer. thank you!

We had a great time. The apt was like home. Walking in this COLD, COLD weather all day-it was nice to come back to a very comfortable place. We did some shopping at the Public Market, saw the Space Needle, went to the Museum of flight. We want to see and do so much more-but we are out of time and energy. We'll be back! Johnny was GREAT!

Wonderful apartment and Great location. Our Seattle-native freinds were impressed! All the comforts of home and we were impressed by the contents of the kitchen cupboards. It made it very easy to have meals at home. (I could get totally used to living across the street from the grocery too!) when we return we would love to stay here again!

It was our first time in Seattle, and we had a blast! The condo was within walking distance of so much, and Johnny was so nice and helpful. We suggest taking the "Savor Seattle" Gourmet food tour and ask for Eric as the tour guide. We hope to be back soon!

What a wonderful visit to Seattle. The apartment was perfect for a family with two small children. Yes-the street was lively, but it felt "alive". Tully's coffee was great; Piecora's pizza was kid friendly but also very yummy. We were afraid the kids wouldn't be able to walk all the way to the waterfront, but they were able to do it, with a stop for the Monorail/Seattle Center in between. Johnny was very helpful. We would definitely visit again.

A week in seattle was just about perfect. Plenty of time to see downtown and make day trips to the islands and the mountains. As for St. Johns, it was a great home away from home. Just the right size for our family of four with a good manager and lots of good food (Boom Noodle was the family favorite) and a great street scene. Hope to do it all again someday.
