If you're coming for a vacation in Seattle, stay at Saint John's! Apartment 304 is a perfect for one or two couples or a family on vacation. There is one "master bedroom", a smaller "second" bedroom, and a really comfortable living/dining/kitchen space.

St John’s was built in 1910. It is a charming old building. There are two floors of apartments over several retail spaces at street level. 304 is on the top floor and has a great view of Pike Street below.

The apartment has new paint, carpets and kitchen cabinets. The kitchen is smallish-it takes the length of one wall-but it works really well. There is a dining table seating four, and next to that a small living area with couch and large stuffed chair. We have a TV with DVD and VCR and an extensive movie collection, CD Stereo and large, eclectic collection of music. The apartment has cable TV and wireless high speed internet.

The master bedroom has a California king bed (it's 6" longer than a regular king size bed...great for tall people.) The second bedroom has two single beds.

We’re in a great location. The distance from St. John’s down to the center of Seattle's shopping district is 10 blocks, the Pike Street Market is just 5 more. There are interesting stores, restaurants and businesses all along the way and it’s an easy walk.

You should know before reserving with us: this is a lively neighborhood! It's busy day and night. Across the street from us is a large QFC grocery store, open 24 hours, and it draws people. And there are bars nearby, and restaurants all around us. So if you like watching/being part of that kind of city life, this is a great place. It's really fun.

But you should be aware, all that activity means people on the street until late at night, and at times they'll be talking, laughing--and you might hear them! Also, there is a bar directly across the street, and sometimes, late at night, you might hear the beat. We want everyone to know this in advance--we don't want any unhappy renters.

This is a great place to live, even if it's only for a few days or a few weeks. The convenience of the grocery across the street should not be underestimated: it’s nice to just walk over there and get anything you’d want. The store is quite large and truly world class, with a great selection of fresh produce, an excellent deli, bakery, lots of cheeses, and good selection of wines right in the store, and lots more! And, there is a large drugstore above the supermarket. There are restaurants all around us. It's a great base for any Seattle vacation!

We have a full-time, live-in manager, Johnny Sidorowicz, who takes care of making reservations and checking people in and out. Johnny lives in apartment 200 and if there's every anything you need while you're with us, he's always ready to help. To make a reservation first check our calendar, linked below. If the dates you want are free, send an email requesting a quote. Johnny will get back to you within a day. If you want to go ahead with the reservation, we require a $150 deposit on Visa or MasterCard. Johnny takes the numbers over the phone. Please give a call at 360 561 8831.

We'd love to have you stay with us! Thanks!

Why the Owner Chose Capitol Hill

We began the search for our apartment building over two years before we found St. John's. We were very particular about the location, because we wanted something that would be extremely convenient for both daily living (like having the grocery store across the street) and also for travelers that want to walk to the convention center or downtown. Plus our neighborhood on Capitol Hill is one of the most up-and-coming areas in the city, full of vibrant life, food, night clubs, shops, galleries, it's all here, right around us.

Owner's Map of Capitol Hill

St. John's is owned by Mark Chambers and Oda Egeland. We live in the country, about an hour from Seattle, and use the short terms apartments as our in-city get away when we come to town. We're both in our mid 50's, have retired from successful careers, love to travel and enjoy the finer things of life. We always stay in VRBO apartments when we travel. It is so much more fun, and typically much cheaper, than staying in hotels. When we began looking for an apartment building we wanted to have several units that we'd use for short term rental, simply because we thought it would be fun. And it has. We've met people from all around the world, and never had one bad experience. Everybody's been great It's a wonderful situation!

    • We stayed here in September 08 and would ABSOLUTELY recommend it to anyone visiting Seattle, especially families. The apartment was VERY clean and nicely appointed, comfortable, with what looked like new furniture, bedspreads, pillows, etc. We came with our 3 year old and it was absolutely perfect in every way -- it was quiet and private, the 24-hour grocery store was so convenient, it was close to the busline, and there's even a playground just a few blocks away. We even ended up walking into DT Seattle every day rather than take the bus -- it was just so easy! Johnny, the caretaker, was so helpful and accommodating. I simply can't recommend this place highly enough, especially to anyone traveling with children. We really got the experience of "living" in Seattle and got to feel like "natives" for a few days. Thank you Mark and Johnny for such a wonderful experience!

    • My sister, a girlfriend and I recently spent 3 nights in Apartment # 304 and it was lovely, homey and practical! Lots of windows for light, comfy beds and a kitchen that was just right for cooking up a great Seattle get away. Plenty of hot water for baths or showers and we thought the noise was over rated, as we barely heard anything, even though the club across the street was very busy most of the weekend. (Great people watching, too!) Capitol Hill is a wonderfully campy but safe neighborhood and yes, the grocery store across the street is fabulous. Parking is a breeze at the apartment and having a car got us to many other great sights like the Troll under the Bridge, a night cap at the Space Needle, The Fremont district, Pioneer Park, Belltown and Pikes Market (to die for!) Word of advice, if driving to downtown, price shop for a parking lot, one charged $18/hr and right behind it we found one that only charged $4/hr. Mark Chambers is a great host and his paintings and photos make a mini art gallery out of the apartment hallways. Every trip in and out we had to stop and study things on the way! Thanks again for a wonderful stay from your 50 something ladies! Viki, Alexis and Nikki

    • St. John's apartment #304 was a great place to stay! After traveling from a stateroom on a cruise ship to a hotel room, it was nice to be in a place that felt like home! Fantastic amenities, clean and centrally located! I'll definitely be back!

    • I want to thank Mark and Johnny for a really great place to stay during our recent trip to Seattle. The apt. was more than we had even dreamed it would be. I am pretty sure our every need was met and then some. I was truly impressed with the accomodations and the cleanliness and comfort of Apt. 304. If I ever have the pleasure of being in Seattle again, I would hope to be able to obtain reservations for this apt. again. Thanks for a great time!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • We were so pleased with this rental (we rented #309 for 5 nights) and our experience in Seattle. Johnny (the manager) and Mark (the building owner) are GREAT! They thought of everything and were more than willing to help and make sure all was well in the apartment. They thought of everything, right down to suggestions for places to eat and a discount card to the grocery store that is closer to the apartment then our mailbox is to our house in TX! The area is very lively and walking to the heart of the city is a breeze. The apartment was so nice we hated to go out, but the food, beer, coffee and shopping is too good in Seattle to miss! We hope to come back in 2008! If you want to get a true feel of city life without a car (we did use a car at all) and enjoy Seattle, this is the place to stay!

    • We loved this apartment! It was as cute, cozy, and comfortable as it could be. It had everything. We cooked, we walked, we hung out, we slept well. Very convenient for walking downtown, lots of decent restaurants close by, good coffee. The manager was very, very nice and helpful. There is a thumping, bass-heavy disco which goes till 2 am, but it was not a biggie. We would stay there again, without question. Excellent choice.

    • I would highly recommend this apartment. The location was great as you could walk just about everywhere, the manager (Johnny) was very helpful and a nice guy too, plus the apartment was cute, clean, and contained everything you needed and then some. It beat a hotel anyday. The grocery store across the street (open 24/7) was so convenient. We will definitely stay here again.

    • I cannot praise Mark's apartments enough. :) My family was lucky enough to be able to experience both 304 and 309 as we were staying for more than a week and had to transfer rooms mid-stay and both were just amazing! Aside from St. John's being in such an interesting location (10-15 minute walk to Pike Place Market and Downtown, a block away from Broadway's interesting shops and restaurants and having everything you need at your doorstep with QFC across the street and good restaurants downstairs), i loved the apartments because they really made you feel at home. the apartment was super clean and had everything you will ever need (wi-fi internet, cooking pans, utensils, etc etc) plus so many bonuses like great new DVDs to watch, board games, books and a bunch of Seattle travel magazines and super saver discount coupons to a few Seattle attractions. Johnny (the manager) was extremely helpful, always made sure everything was in order and Mark (the owner) is a kind-hearted gentleman who really made it a point to make us feel like we were visiting friends of his. :) We've stayed at other apartments in New York and other places, but this by far is the best and will definitely be our home when we go back to Seattle. :)

    • We could not have had a better weeklong stay in Seattle than we did at St Johns Apts (we were actually in #309). Our family of four fit easily and comfortably, and our 5 year old *loved* the clawfoot tub! It was a perfect base of operations for the week, and Mark is a lovely and gracious host. Special thanks to Johnny as well for all his help. We'll be back!
