Great location with everything you need!

Loved having an apartment, I would choose it over a hotel! In the heart of Capitol Hill. TONS of bars, food and entertainment in walking distance. Johnny was right there to let us in and answer any questions. #304 is airy and light. It was clean and homey and we used the patio out back each morning for our coffee and breakfast. Wifi and QFC grocery store right next door. Your key even has the discount card attached to get sale items, nice touch! The beds were super comfortable! Lived in this neighborhood 8 years ago, so was just like being home. This is a busy weekend night area, so it can be noisy at night, bring ear plugs. To be expected when you're in a vibrant night life area. There was a "white noise" machine as well if that's a concern. Thanks for the great stay!

We had a wonderful time and walked a lot of miles-Victoria was great (took the clipper there in back in one day). Lunch at Fisherman's restaurant and bar as very good. The Pike Market flowers are beautiful. Went to Sunday Freemont Flea Market and that was fun! The apt. was the perfect home base for four women who wanted to spend days walking and site seeing and evenings laughing, talking and playing cards with a glass (es) of wine!

Everything one could possibly need is here in this intelligently equipped apt. Travel books galore, maps, info we appreciated having at our fingertips. The "hood" is filled with great restaurants, and easily walkable to downtown. It was fine for us. Johnny is a treasure!

Had a great time and being up on the hill helped to counteract all of the good food and our trips to Molly Moon's Ice Cream. So great to have QFC right across the street wish we'd had more time to explore the local "hood-but were here for a conference in downtown. Thanks for everything.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The weather was fabulous. The city is so much fun and Washington wines are delicious! The apartment was great-plenty of room, comfortable beds. It was great having a grocery store across the street - Beecher cheese is wonderful and made locally. We were amazed at how quiet the apartment was at night given the party atmosphere of the neighborhood. Thanks for a great place to stay!

Inner City Experience

Guest: Steve & Linda (Pittsburgh, PA)
Date of Stay: 08/21/11 Review Submitted: 08/27/11

My husband, sister and I booked this cute little apartment for 3 days after an Alaskan Cruise. The location is very central, close to everything, and the apartment was the perfect size for 3 adults. It's a bit difficult to locate on the busy busy street, and the parking is around the back of the building. The apartment was spotless and in excellent condition. Newly remodeled, freshly painted and updated. The carpet was nice and clean and felt good on our bare feet. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets and pillows of high quality. The bath towels and wash clothes very thick and fluffy. Practically brand new. The apartment was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need and there were condiments and spices in the cabinet and fridge left over from other guests. There was a very comfortable loveseat in the living room and a wing back chair. Each bedroom also had it's own Flatscreen TV. The bedrooms had wall air conditioners, but the living room/dining room/kitchen combo did not, however, the bedroom a/c units did cool the entire house. The apartment is located on the top floor and is not handicapped accessible. It was difficult bringing up our luggage and groceries. The neighborhood is inner city. An eclectic mix of ethnic, gays, college kids, street people and tourists. There is quite a bit of night life, including police and fire sirens quite often. although, the apartment windows are new and kept most of the sounds to a minimum. There is a grocery store right across the street where you can buy your groceries, beer, wine, etc. The neighborhood is teeming with wonderful restaurants, we ate one of the best Mexican meals I have ever had in my life two blocks down the street. I do not recommend this apartment for elderly, handicapped, or people easily scared by inner city surroundings......I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone wishing to stay in the heart of Seattle and enjoy cultural diversity and a lively nightlife hot spot!

Owner response:Thanks Linda for the review! It's a very accurate description and we're glad you enjoyed the apartment. We've done everything we can to make the apartments comfortable and convenient--it feels really good to provide a totally first class experience! And your comments about the neighborhood are true-there's all kinds of people in the neighborhood, it's busy day and night. (Saturday nights are amazing!) We love this part of town, and that's one of the reasons. There is much to do, it's fun, and it's safe! There are lots of people coming and going to the restaurants, stores, etc. and that makes it a really safe and comfortable place to walk around. As far as finding us, the google map to St. John's is very accurate, everybody should use it. Since we are on Pike Street we're very easy to find. We ask all our guests to call Johnny, our apartment manager, when they get to the airport or off the boat or driving in, and he'll be there waiting to help with getting into the apartment etc. He's a great resource for neighborhood tips, too! Thanks again!

We had so much fun here in Seattle! We bought city asses and saw all the great attractions this city has to offer. I think our favorite was seeing the waterfront-ti's absolutely gorgeous and I think I could have watched the sailboats and ferries all day long. The apartment was so fantastic too! I loved being able to save some $ by cooking some meals here and I loved that we had lots of room to spread out and relax during our down time. It's also great having a QFC right across the street.

My husband and I, and our 7 year old son, stayed here for a few days in October and had a wonderful experience. The apartment is small, but well laid out, and there was room for all of us to stretch out and have our own space. The place was well-appointed with cookware, plenty of pantry staples, books, and videos. It's a longish but reasonable walk to downtown, or you can bus to all of Seattle's attractions with stops two blocks away. We never missed having a car. I absolutely loved having a grocery store across the street (a discount card was thoughtfully provided), but the neighborhood is also full of restaurants worth trying. The noise was never an issue except at bar time on weekends; it's part of the energy of the neighborhood, and there are white noise machines in the bedrooms which mask it well. Laundry, apartment-style, is available down the hall (bring quarters). WiFi was strong and reliable (the antenna is right outside the door). Finally, Johnny was a wonderful host and could not have been more accommodating. We all highly recommend this apartment!

We had the greatest vacation. The apartment is totally comfortable and in a fantastic location. Check out Molly Moon's around the corner for literally the best ice cream we've ever had. If you have kids the Seattle Children's Museum is a must. We can't wait to come back in the summer. thank you!

We had a great time. The apt was like home. Walking in this COLD, COLD weather all day-it was nice to come back to a very comfortable place. We did some shopping at the Public Market, saw the Space Needle, went to the Museum of flight. We want to see and do so much more-but we are out of time and energy. We'll be back! Johnny was GREAT!

Wonderful apartment and Great location. Our Seattle-native freinds were impressed! All the comforts of home and we were impressed by the contents of the kitchen cupboards. It made it very easy to have meals at home. (I could get totally used to living across the street from the grocery too!) when we return we would love to stay here again!

What a wonderful visit to Seattle. The apartment was perfect for a family with two small children. Yes-the street was lively, but it felt "alive". Tully's coffee was great; Piecora's pizza was kid friendly but also very yummy. We were afraid the kids wouldn't be able to walk all the way to the waterfront, but they were able to do it, with a stop for the Monorail/Seattle Center in between. Johnny was very helpful. We would definitely visit again.

A week in seattle was just about perfect. Plenty of time to see downtown and make day trips to the islands and the mountains. As for St. Johns, it was a great home away from home. Just the right size for our family of four with a good manager and lots of good food (Boom Noodle was the family favorite) and a great street scene. Hope to do it all again someday.

Wowza what a day! We started at the Hurricane cafe for breakfast and morning cocktails was very affordable and delicious to boot! From there we were off to the Pacific Science Center our main mission...The Butterfly Habitat. I HIGHLY recommend it! Then had to have a refreshing beverage at some sports bar by the Space Needle. Drew picket the market next so we shopped and had a great time. Had our 10th anniversary dinner at the Dahlia Lounge which was fabulous! Tomorrow we hope to take in the Aquarium and Archie McPhees.. Woohoo! We love this town! Archie McPhee's: your life is not complete without a yodeling Pickle and Bacon Band-Aid's! This place is amazing. Lots of really cool bars and awesome night scene. We enjoyed every second and will be back for sure!

We stayed here in September 08 and would ABSOLUTELY recommend it to anyone visiting Seattle, especially families. The apartment was VERY clean and nicely appointed, comfortable, with what looked like new furniture, bedspreads, pillows, etc. We came with our 3 year old and it was absolutely perfect in every way -- it was quiet and private, the 24-hour grocery store was so convenient, it was close to the busline, and there's even a playground just a few blocks away. We even ended up walking into DT Seattle every day rather than take the bus -- it was just so easy! Johnny, the caretaker, was so helpful and accommodating. I simply can't recommend this place highly enough, especially to anyone traveling with children. We really got the experience of "living" in Seattle and got to feel like "natives" for a few days. Thank you Mark and Johnny for such a wonderful experience!

My sister, a girlfriend and I recently spent 3 nights in Apartment # 304 and it was lovely, homey and practical! Lots of windows for light, comfy beds and a kitchen that was just right for cooking up a great Seattle get away. Plenty of hot water for baths or showers and we thought the noise was over rated, as we barely heard anything, even though the club across the street was very busy most of the weekend. (Great people watching, too!) Capitol Hill is a wonderfully campy but safe neighborhood and yes, the grocery store across the street is fabulous. Parking is a breeze at the apartment and having a car got us to many other great sights like the Troll under the Bridge, a night cap at the Space Needle, The Fremont district, Pioneer Park, Belltown and Pikes Market (to die for!) Word of advice, if driving to downtown, price shop for a parking lot, one charged $18/hr and right behind it we found one that only charged $4/hr. Mark Chambers is a great host and his paintings and photos make a mini art gallery out of the apartment hallways. Every trip in and out we had to stop and study things on the way! Thanks again for a wonderful stay from your 50 something ladies! Viki, Alexis and Nikki

We were so pleased with this rental (we rented #309 for 5 nights) and our experience in Seattle. Johnny (the manager) and Mark (the building owner) are GREAT! They thought of everything and were more than willing to help and make sure all was well in the apartment. They thought of everything, right down to suggestions for places to eat and a discount card to the grocery store that is closer to the apartment then our mailbox is to our house in TX! The area is very lively and walking to the heart of the city is a breeze. The apartment was so nice we hated to go out, but the food, beer, coffee and shopping is too good in Seattle to miss! We hope to come back in 2008! If you want to get a true feel of city life without a car (we did use a car at all) and enjoy Seattle, this is the place to stay!

We loved this apartment! It was as cute, cozy, and comfortable as it could be. It had everything. We cooked, we walked, we hung out, we slept well. Very convenient for walking downtown, lots of decent restaurants close by, good coffee. The manager was very, very nice and helpful. There is a thumping, bass-heavy disco which goes till 2 am, but it was not a biggie. We would stay there again, without question. Excellent choice.

I cannot praise Mark's apartments enough. :) My family was lucky enough to be able to experience both 304 and 309 as we were staying for more than a week and had to transfer rooms mid-stay and both were just amazing! Aside from St. John's being in such an interesting location (10-15 minute walk to Pike Place Market and Downtown, a block away from Broadway's interesting shops and restaurants and having everything you need at your doorstep with QFC across the street and good restaurants downstairs), i loved the apartments because they really made you feel at home. the apartment was super clean and had everything you will ever need (wi-fi internet, cooking pans, utensils, etc etc) plus so many bonuses like great new DVDs to watch, board games, books and a bunch of Seattle travel magazines and super saver discount coupons to a few Seattle attractions. Johnny (the manager) was extremely helpful, always made sure everything was in order and Mark (the owner) is a kind-hearted gentleman who really made it a point to make us feel like we were visiting friends of his. :) We've stayed at other apartments in New York and other places, but this by far is the best and will definitely be our home when we go back to Seattle. :)

We could not have had a better weeklong stay in Seattle than we did at St Johns Apts (we were actually in #309). Our family of four fit easily and comfortably, and our 5 year old *loved* the clawfoot tub! It was a perfect base of operations for the week, and Mark is a lovely and gracious host. Special thanks to Johnny as well for all his help. We'll be back!

I have a friend out in seattle and we decided to stay at this beautiful apartment. Mark was very generous and extremely welcoming. The apartment was beautiful and i felt right at home. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I just didn't want to leave! The bathroom was large and comfortable as well. It was also nice to have an internet connection there for my laptop. The noise did not bother us at all. The furniture, kitchen appliances, everything was clean and looked new! The price was affordable as well. It was also right in the city where alot of nightlife was going on and not far from the space needle. I have a great time there and I will definitely come back to stay! Thanks Mark for your generosity and warm welcoming.

My husband, two young children and I rented apt. 304 for a week while we visited Seattle. The apt. was perfect for us- cute, clean and in a fun part of town. There were restaurants, coffeehouses, a park and a grocery store close by and we were able to push our kids in a stroller down to the tourist area. The noise from the bar across the street did not bother us- we slept right through it. Mark, the owner, was both accommodating and very pleasant. We highly recommend the apt. and look forward to staying there the next time we are in Seattle.

Our stay at St. John's was more than we could have imagined it would have been! The location was excellent, within walking distance to everything. From the moment we walked in the door we felt like we had found our home away from home. The apartment was tastefully decorated, and the kitchen was very cute and useful for our stay. I could go on and on about how much we loved this place, but I can say this.......we will be back! Thanks again for all the hospitality.

Our stay at Saint John's Unit 304 exceeded our expectations. It was comforting and comfortable not to mention convenient to everything. Only a few steps away is an incredible gourmet grocery including an extensive wine selection, fresh fish and meats as well as a bakery and a Starbucks for all of our in home dining. Equally as close by you have a choice of Thai, American Bistro, Eastern Indian and an excellent Sandwich Shop for dining out. Up the street on Broadway are even more food and shopping options. The point is that I was overwhelmed by this sweet unit's proximity to an endless number of possibilites plus all that Seattle has to offer. The noise was a non-issue and I am a light sleeper. You may notice it a bit at first, but you will quickly get past it. The owner, Mark's hospitality, attention to details and our needs combined with the apartment's amenities, furnishings and decor were all perfect right down to the coordinating Martini glasses! Nothing was lacking except an excessive price tag! If he will have us, I know where we will be staying on all of our future trips to Seattle.
