My husband and I had a long overdue honeymoon on Maui and stayed at Gayle's condo. We loved it! We felt it was definitely clean and well-maintained. It's centrally located to many other great spots in Maui and, here's the best part: the VIEW! It was pretty amazing to hear the ocean waves as you fall asleep and then also wake up to such a serene sight. We spent many a morning having our breakfast out on the lanai, and some dinners, too. We had a blast playing shuffleboard, utilizing the pool, rooftop grills and walking along the nearby beach. Plus, free and easy parking. It is an experience we will never forget.

We actually stayed in a different condo of the same owners. We were in #612 on the top floor. Owners were very responsive and great to deal with. We have stayed in other condos in Kihei but this was the nicest. Fabulous ocean views with many whales, outriggers, and paddle boarders to see. Sunsets are wonderful too. The Menehune Shores building is imaculately maintained. The unit is completely renovated. Clean and new everywhere you look. Well stocked from the kitchen to beach gear to binoculars. We highly recommend this and the other condos of these owners.

Three years ago we stayed in the owner's unit on 4th floor which was absolutely fabulous and we have since recommended it to many others. This year we rented unit 612 - you can not believe this unit! The condo is absolutely amazing -completely renovated with the most modern finishes. It is completely equipped with everything you need. And the view -you have to see it to believe it -whales just off shore and turtles right up along the shore! The Menehune Shores property is very well maintained- exceptionally well groomed and clean. The property is so well situated on Maui - centrally located so that travel time and access to any of the island activities is just a short drive. We have been to Maui a few times and try to do something different each time. The last 2 times we have especially enjoyed going Upcountry. This time we discovered the Lavendar farm - a must to visit especially in the morning -spectacular views and great scones!

If a little piece of heaven is what you are looking for; this is it. The sound of the surf is all you hear at night in this quiet condo overlooking the Pacific Ocean from the shores of Hawaii’s best island, Maui. If you are looking for unobstructed views of the ocean, where you are able the watch the whales jumping in winter, turtles feeding in the mornings, and the beautiful Hawaiian sunsets, then this would be the place for you. We have stayed here on several of our Hawaii trips and really like the place. It is fully set up with everything you need for cooking, playing, or just relaxing. We walked the beaches every day, paddle boarded right out front, and filled everyday with activities from this continently located condo. You will love it. Bill & Sheri Hess, Anchorage, Alaska

Your condo is everything we'd hoped for and more. The location is great, close to everything we need and we never tire of sitting out on the lanai with its magnificent views. We saw whales every day! It is wonderful being this close to the ocean. The condo itself is well-stocked and very comfortable.

I can't say enough nice things about this location. WE LOVED IT! The unit was VERY nicely furnished and equipped. FABULOUS! It was convenient and very well maintained. Anything that I needed to cook was there. It was nice that some spices and seasonings were available. The photos showed it exactly as it is. Loved the Hawaiian Quilt bedspread, my favorite colors, too! The owner was extremely helpful on information. We liked the Big Wave Restaurant (nearby) and Fred's Mexican Restaurant (a little farther away). Don't often eat burgers, but Fred's has a fabulous cheeseburger. We loved visiting the Tedshi Winery, had an elkburger there (nearby gift shop and food). Our first time for that, and we both liked it. We've been to Maui several times and have been to Hana (if you drive it yourself, would recommend the rental of GPS. The last time we did it, we rented a tape to play in the car pointing out all the points of interest along the way), the Iao Needle (significant historical site) and to Haleakala, even at dawn, once. During the day, Haleakala resembles a moonscape, dawn is wonderfullably indescribable. We are recommending this location to all our friends whether or not they're planning a Hawaii trip in the near future.

OH my goodness, when we walked in we felt like we were on a boat. All we saw was water, and that is what we loved the entire time we stayed there. Besides the fabulous view, the unit is also upgraded, with all tile floors, granite kitchen counters, updated appliances, including washer/dryer and ice maker. The owners were very responsive, and all the information provided for the stay was accurate. We felt right at home, able to surf the web, watch DVD's provided, listen to music, and use the books that were available to guests. The books were especially helpful in finding where to snorkel, eat, and visit. The bed was comfortable, and the ceiling fans were nice to move the air. We had a wonderful vacation, swimming right out back, walking for miles on the beach, watching the sunsets on the lanai, and basically kicking back and relaxing. We plan to return, and will tell all our friends and family, this is the place to stay!!
Owner response:Thank you so much for taking the time to do a review. We'd love to share our place with you again sometime. Gayle

This was the best equipped condo that I have ever rented! The furnishings were clean and up-to-date,with a kitchen that was fully furnished. We spent most of our evenings sitting on the lanai enjoying the sunsets and evening breeze.Nothing like a great glass of wine and a Hawaii sunset! I would highly recommend renting this unit.

We just had to let you know that your place was absolutely perfect. Several times we said to ourselves, we could not have done any better. When you said don't pack anything extra, I wish I would have listened. You were exactly right. Everything we needed was already there. We've shown many pictures and told many people about your place. So don't be surprised to see some more Southern Illinois people headed your way. I know your busy and I won't take up anymore of your time. We just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the stay there. We're already talking about a return trip in the future. Once again we'll be staying at the Menehune Shores Condo in Kihei, #416. Thanks for being such a great person to deal with also.

This condo was everything and more that the listing description describes. We enjoyed the view from the lanai every morning, and we watched the whales and the sunsets from the lenai and the roof top in the evenings. The tile floors make for easy clean up and give this unit a modern look and feel. The condo was clean and had all the amenities we needed. The kitchen was updated and the appliances were great. We enjoyed the pool, walks on the beach and the overall location to activities like scuba diving and snorkeling right in front of the condo. Lahaina has a comedy / magic show called Warren and Annabelle's that was very entertaining. I would recommend this unit to family and friends. The owners were great to work with and we plan on returning.

Gayle's place was excellent, with a central Kihei location near many fabulous beaches. It had everything we needed to enjoy Maui to the fullest. Kitchen was modern and well equipped. Rooftop bbq's were a great place to cook and meet other Canadians escaping from winter. Gayle also provided good advice on sightseeing and local attractions. Everything we needed to see and do was very close by. The "old" traditional Lahaina Luau had very good food & entertainment. Other good stops would be Stella Blues Cafe and Jawz (fish tacos). The snorkel trip to Molokini was very worthwhile. The photos Gayle has posted are very accurate. The lanai was simply fantastic and needs to be experienced. We'll never forget waking up that first morning and seeing our the local sunrise after a long flight from Canada. Sunsets & whalewatching were also special treat @ Menehune Shores in January. The peace and quiet of Kihei suited us perfectly. We will definitely come back and stay here on our next trip to Maui.

We were so happy to land in Maui and even happier when we got to our accomodations. Great beaches all around and the view from the condo was wonderful. We saw turtles and whales. The snorkeling is not real good in front of the condo unless you like turtles. There are plenty of these. Two must sees are the aquarium right up the road and Warren and Annabelle's magic show in Lahaina--get tickets for the magic show ahead of time. The condo itself is modern with new furniture. Lots of fans. Everything was provided for cooking. The elevator saved on legs and we enjoyed driving to different sites and the beaches on the way to Lahaina. You can not miss for a nice place to stay for the price. We loved it and did not want to come home!! And , you cook park right out in front. Shopping carts provided ti haul your groceries upstairs. Beach chairs, umbrella, lots of towells, and ice chest provided.

We had our honeymoon in this beautiful condo and couldn't have asked for more. The owners said we would love it and they were right! The kitchen, (we enjoy cooking) had everything needed to make great meals, and preparing on granite counters, while I watched the ocean, was just great. We also used the gas BBQ's but brought the food back to our private lanai. There was no lack of privacy and romance in this unit. One can feel so close to nature when residing here. Close to restaurants, wonderful beaches, and shopping. Safeway is just 1 mile south of the unit, and they have a great selection of seafood and wine. Ceiling fans cool you off with no problem, and we left the floor to ceiling doors open 24/7. I felt like we were living outside, which felt very special to me since we are from Canada. It was truly a spectacular place to stay for our beginning life together. We'll be back for some anniversaries.

Thanks for a wonderful holiday at your condo Gayle, we enjoyed every moment. Breakfast on the lanai was the perfect way to start our days. The end of day sunsets on the lanai with the waves as background music, was absolutely superb. BBQ upstairs on the roof was very convenient. We found this condo to be quiet, peaceful, and furnished with everything you need. Make sure to drive to Hana and the seven pools, Drive to the summit of Haleakala on a clear morning and you can see the Big Island from there (dress warmly). The drive past Wailea to the lava fields was incredible, great photos of waves crashing on the rocks. We did lots of snorkeling, sat in the sun, and had a great trip to Molokini (which I noticed you can see from the lanai). Thank you for the Hawaiian books and the collection of DVD's to enjoy. This condo has it all, we have stayed in many places over the years, this is the BEST. We can highly recommend!

We couldn't be happier in this condo, which we rented recently from the owners. It's a beautiful unit, that just really felt like the perfect Hawaiian home. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were in paradise watching the waves and sunsets from our private lanai. The location was ideal also, we could walk on the beach out front, or drive a few miles to experience more options. The local Safeway and Long's Drugs is only a mile south, as well as lots of fun restaurants. Try the great breakfast at Fred's just a few miles south. If you look in the guidebooks, there is a buy one get one free before 9am. The vegetarian omlette was superb. When we return to Maui, we will be going back to this unit, it was so hard to leave this place, that I keep a picture of the view from the lanai, on my refrigerator. I would recommend to all of you out there, looking for a clean, well maintained, condo on the beach. Thank you Gayle.

We spent our honeymoon here and this unit exceeded our expectations, we couldn't have made a better selection. Some of our wedding party came over to say goodbye (as they were from the mainland and we got married in Maui), they were all so impressed, and wished they had stayed here. The unit has it all, DVD's, Hawaiian books, and lots of special touches and is impeccably clean and decorated. The best is the sound of the ocean, sunsets on the lanai, and long walks on the beach. There is a restaurant on property, with great Thai food, as well as lots of restaurants close by, including Roy's (which is only 1 mile south). Great Safeway Marketplace only a mile away too, if you want to cook in this kitchen. The unit was stocked with everything from beach chairs, to spices for cooking, and cooler for the beach. Owners are very responsive, and I would recommend this place to all with no hesitation. In fact, I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else, when we return.

We have stayed at this condo twice in the last two years, once in July 2008 and again in January 2009. Both times we were delighted. The property was clean and well maintained. In January we could actually watch whales from the lanai! Bring good binoculars for an even better view. We would definitely recommend to friends. It’s best for no more than two people. When we go back to Maui, this is the first place we will check to see if it’s available.

Love this condo, stayed at the West end our previous trip, and now realize we like this area so much better. Weather was great, view amazing, and this condo had everything and more! Walked on the beach most mornings before heading out to check out shops, and other beaches in Wailea. Ate at Fat Daddy's Smokehouse for great BBQ, Fred's for Tues night Taco's, Greek Bistro, Longhi's and Stella Blues. Try the restaurant downstairs at the condo, if you like delicious Indian food! Pretty convenient too, just down the elevator and you are eating oceanfront on property, and being served!! Rent snorkel gear from Maui Dive...they have prescription goggles!! Drive to Paia to watch the surfers, great fun. When we left here, we went to Gayle's condo in KONA. Thanks for sharing this breathtaking unit with us. We'll be back.

We rented this condo, directly from the owners and were so thrilled when we arrived. You always wonder if the pictures are true to life, and this one is even better than we imagined. Besides being the perfect location, for quiet evenings, yet close to everything, we found that we saved money by eating in on the beautiful lanai. Costco is right near the airport, which is only 10 miles away, and there are grocery stores within a 5 min drive. I recommend spending a little more to get a room like this one, and savings on restaurants. The gas grills are oceanside, or up on the roof, take your pick, we tried both. If windy, it's best on the oceanside, right out by the pool, but if calm, you can't beat the 360 degree view while you barbeque on the roof. Sunset is particularly a great time to be up there. Gayle sent us her favorite things to do on the island, and that was so helpful. We also enjoyed just exploring and finding our own special spots, which we noted in her guestbook. This place is clean, lovely inside, and has everything we needed and more. Don't both bringing books about what to see, they are all there for your use. There is even a collection of DVD's to view, should you decide you want to do that. We did splurge one night and go to Roy's, just down the street, the food is superb, but pricey. I would recommend this unit to everyone coming to MAUI. Stay out of the rat race of Lahaina, just go up there for a day to take a look around. Weather is better in Kihei too. Thank you to the Smiths, for sharing their home with us, we'll be back.

It would be hard to find a better view, of the ocean, than from this balcony. We were there in Febuary and there was very few times that you could not see whales. The evening sunsets were like what you would see in magazines. The accomodations were clean and well maintained. Everything you would need for your time there was supplied. We plan on using this facility again.
