Wonderful vacation home

We stayed in this home during our first trip to Fripp in June '10 with our 4 kids, ranging from 7-18. The house was just as pictured. We all had our "wish list" of things we wanted for vacation, and I wanted to wake up and see water. This house did not disappoint! I sat on the rear deck, just feet from the ocean, having my coffee each morning. I told my husband on our first day, "this house just totally spoiled us for any future vacations here!" The house is on the part of the island where there is only beach at certain times of day. At low tide, you can walk out for a long way. As the tide comes in, you can walk through about knee high water to the sand bar. It's very intimidating at first when the waves are crashing against your steps, but in reality, the water's not very deep. I thought this would bother me at first, but we just planned around the tides. I loved that I could see the kids on the sandbar looking for shells from the deck. The house is at the end of the street, so it is quiet. Personally, I liked that. Some of the mid-island properties are quite busy, and I liked being able to leave that and go back to the house. We rented a second golf cart, and only drove the car to leave the island for groceries. The kitchen is well equipped. Bring kitchen trash bags. We cooked at home a lot and ran out of trash bags. The kitchen is a small galley style kitchen. If you have visions of the entire family cooking together, then this is not the house for you. Everything is full size, so there is no problem cooking a big meal, but with more than 2 of us in there, it got a bit chaotic! I do all of the cooking, and I would gladly trade a big kitchen for that location and view! You have to go up steps to get in the house, front and back. I think most houses on the island are this way, but if we had brought my mother-in-law, it would have been a big challenge. Just a consideration! The owners were friendly and easy to work with. She was very patient with what probably seemed like my endless questions! The kids loved Fripp as much as we did. It was such a nice, laid back, easy vacation. I have no doubt we will be back.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

I just had my wedding here in February at The Marlin House!! It's fantastic!!! The house was well equipped- I planned the wedding from Ohio and never got to see the house in person before we arrived the week of the wedding. I reserved all my dishes and things for the reception from Amazing Event Rentals near Fripp, once I got to the house I had to call the rental company and have them take things off my order because the house had everything! The view of the ocean was incredible from every room in the house! It was also spotless! I could go on and on and on, but I plan to revisit this house often! It's also become sentimental not only because it's where my husband and I got married but also because his mother passed away suddenly only 2 months after our wedding and this was her last visit to the beach. If you ask me there isn't a better house on Fripp! Also on a side note the owners of this house where so kind, made renting from them so pleasurable! We'll be back to this house a lot in the future! Fripp is my new favorite place in the world.
