Luxurious and historic 16th century manor house, fully renovated and refurbished in 2000. 12 bedrooms, all with en-suite shower rooms. The house is furnished with antiques, oil paintings and tapestries and has a large sitting room, indoor and outdoor dining areas (tables and seating for 24) and a kitchen with all facilities. At the back of the house is a walled formal garden with heated swimming pool, sun terraces, ornamental fountains and fish pond, beautiful mature trees, palms and flowering shrubs.
The house is situated on a narrow cobbled street just off the main square in the heart of the old town, close to the waterfront and numerous shops, restaurants and street cafes.
The popular beach resort of Praia da Rocha is on the far side of the town. There are several golf courses nearby.

An Algarve paradise -great for large groups

My family and friends (a grand total of 27 at one point, ranging in age from 8 months to 60) enjoyed this gorgeous retreat for 2 weeks in August. It was simply superb. Everything in the description and pictures of the property was accurate and in fact doesn't do it justice. There is an abundance of space inside and outside, despite the August heat the bedrooms' fans and the pool provide a respite and sleeping is very comfortable. The owners and the neighbor/property manager were magnificently helpful. We are much in debt to Tina and in fact wanted to bring her home with us to Toronto. She was a one person orchestra: arranging dinners, taking us shopping, buying birthday cakes and organizing boat cruises, even taking a bunch of 16 year-olds to a local beach party well past midnight. Thanks to her we had some fabulous times - thank you again Tina. Everything about this rental was smooth and very accommodating - even though we were a challengingly large group and probably kept some neighbors up into the early hours of the morning. We just didn't want to waste time sleeping - the stay was so much fun. The sunset cruise was a highlight and a great Italian restaurant in Lagos stole our hearts - ask Tina about her favorite pizzeria. The 2 weeks flew by very quickly and we all hope to come back to Santa Isabel again. Thank you John, Mark and Tina for letting us enjoy your splendid holiday home.

This was a charming, antique filled villa with alot of room but was welcoming and unpretentious at the same time. We were a group of 6 adults and we enjoyed our vacation from the moment we walked in the door and were greeted by the lovely house manager Tina and the resident adorable dog Pepe. We felt at home, had more than ample room, and enjoyed the peacefulness that the private compound provided. We loved the beautifully landscaped outdoor area and enjoyed long leisurely dinners on the veranda overlooking pool. The town is a charming, old fishing village on a river and is located close to the beach and close to other sites in the Algarve. The pictures and description were accurate, the property was clean, and the owners responded quickly to emails. We loved the house so much and felt completely relaxed at weeks end. We all agree that we can not wait to return.
