3 Cute, Economical Studios, in Paris' Pedestrian Heart
- Minimum stay:3 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
3 cute studios, in the same 14th century building, full of Parisian charm. The two larger ones sleep 2 - 4 (though they are studios: all occupants must be reasonably intimate), the smallest sleeps 2. Details on LOCATION, PRICE and AVAILABILITY are on our web site, bluemarble-dot-org.
Two of the studios, 'Citron' and 'Soleil,' share the first floor of our building (European system, so one flight up). A smaller one, 'Petit Nuage,' is on the 3rd floor. Our office is on the ground floor.
We are located in the heart of the 2nd arrondissement's Montorgueil pedestrian neighborhood, a block from a lively market street with a plethora of fresh products. Sidewalk cafés, excellent restaurants of all levels, and no fewer than 7 patisseries are all within 2 blocks. A short walk (15 minutes or less) takes you to the Louvre, the Pompidou Center, Palais Royal, Notre Dame, the Marais, and many of the city’s other prime attractions.
Longer distances are equally easy to navigate: 9 métro lines (including direct lines to both airports, to 6 of Paris' 7 train stations, and to the intercity bus station) are within five minutes’ walk.
'Citron' and 'Soleil' are both the size of a large (for Paris) hotel room: 21 sq. meters. They have high ceilings (indeed, 'Citron' is almost a cube), the exposed beams befitting their 700 years, kitchen areas, and detached bathrooms (half tub in 'Citron,' full tub in 'Soleil').
'Petit Nuage' is cozier (16 sq. meters), but light and pleasant, and very well-designed.
'Soleil' is on the front of the building, with a view to our pleasant, semi-pedestrian street. An 'L' shape makes it feel smaller than 'Citron,' though it is not. Street noise is relatively low-volume (double-glazed windows), and the apartment is light and pleasant. It offers a 'French double' bed (120 cm, NOT queen size) and 2 chairs that fold out to single beds.
'Citron' and 'Petit Nuage' are on the courtyard: almost eerily quiet for city apartments.
'Citron,' on the lower floor, offers a little terrace looking out on the courtyard. The studio is cool in summer and warm in winter, but gets less natural light than 'Soleil.' Good for night owls, and a haven of peace in a busy city. Offers a double bed, plus a futon couch, which folds out to a double bed.
'Petit Nuage' is light and pleasant, with a comfortable bathroom and pleasant kitchen area. The main room is spacious, but this is at the cost of an easy-to-manipulate, comfortable, pull-out bed.

We stayed in Petit Nuage and we had an excellent experience. It was very clean, compact, well-stocked, and everything functioned well. It was also pleasant and airy, despite being petit, and the size was perfect for two people. We really enjoyed having an apartment to come home to each day, and it was in a great location. It's located a block from a lovely pedestrian market street with corner open-air cafes, and at least one, if not two, of every kind of food shop -- chocolate, wine, cheese, bakeries, butchers, fruit and vegetable shops, a small grocery store, and much more. The street was actually recommended by a tour guide we overheard telling a couple to go there for a great experience. We bought fresh food every day and cooked in the apartment with no troubles. Right around the apartments is a pleasant, clean, friendly little paved square, where a lot of kids gather in the afternoons to play soccer, and people sit on the benches. No one bothered us and we felt quite safe, when we had to come in late at night, or at other times of the day. We liked overlooking the courtyard, and on the weekend were serenaded by lovely music coming through the open windows from another apartment. The apartment has a television, but we didn't have time to watch it, but the internet connection was important. There was some difficulty with it the first night, due to a previous renter's damage, but it was fixed very quickly the next morning when we mentioned it. The staff was friendly and helpful, and it was convenient to be able to buy airport train tickets there in the morning when we checked out instead of fiddling at the station when we were in a hurry. A previous commenter mentioned the stairs. They are indeed steep and small. But we did not find them at all to be difficult to manage, weren't out of breath at the top when we went up them each day, or anything. Carrying suitcases was long even with our small carry-ons, but you only have to do that once! The apartment is within easy walking distance of almost anything on that side of the river -- we walked almost everywhere -- and is a very quick couple of minutes' walk around the block to the metro, which is on an easily-accessible line. We were very, very pleased with our stay here, including the price, and look forward to being able to stay here again the next time we visit.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Thank you for your very positive and enthusiastic review! We're very glad you enjoyed your stay, and would be happy to welcome you back!

Dear owners, thank you very much! The location and convenience of the apartment (I stayed in Soleil) are awsome. I got everything I needed, and your printed out instructions gave me a great hand with getting out and about, especially your tips about the places to eat and buy food)) I totally enjoyed everything)Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

I recently stayed in the Citron rental, and loved it!! It was really cute, and I was impressed, this being my first rental experience. From the beginning the staff was really helpful--I had originally been travelling alone, and was going to rent the Petit Nuage but my brother ended up coming along at the last minute, Blue Marble had no probably changing my apartment for me, as they had one readily available. The apartment is on a quiet side street off of a larger main street and is in the center of the city. For our stay, my brother and I were able to walk to most of the main sights, even in the cold winter weather. As for the apartment itself, the kitchen was fully stocked, having many of the main spices needed to make a meal--all that we needed to buy were the persiable goods. The futon was slightly uncomfortable for my brother--he is 6"0 and the bed was a little short for him so he had to sleep at an angle. The bed was extremely comfortable, but he was also too tall for this bed. The shower is a little awkward because it has a little stoop to sit on, but once we adjusted it, it wasn't a problem. I would happily stay here again and am already planning to, for my next visit to Paris ;). The only concerns I had with the apartment involved the towels. The ones in our apartment were old and scratchy, but for our short stay, it was only a small inconvenience. Also, if you are older or disabled, the stairs are very narrow and steep. My brother and I are 22 and 16, respectively, and I thought I was going to fall down the stairs every time I went down them. These are small problems when compared to how great the apartment was. :)Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

First, details for your peace of mind: they folks running this are competent and pleasant, the apartment is exactly what it appears to be (actually they're too modest in their listing -- when they say "fully equipped" they mean it. Toiletries, olive oil, wash cloths, slippers, you name it.) It was impeccably clean when we arrived, the bathroom is well done and has lots of hot water. A block away is the best food shopping in Paris. We'll be staying here again probably forever after when we come to Paris, and recommending it to all our friends who go.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

The apt's location was ideal for our week's stay in Paris. Walking distance to the metro, shopping and great restaurants and cafes. The facilities were compact but met our needs and were very reasonably priced. It was wonderful to have the kitchen amenities (fridge, coffee maker & coffee, etc!) each morning before heading out for the day. We stayed in Citron. The double bed was good, but the futon was too hard for sleeping on for 7 nights. New mattress maybe?Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

The Citron was a great apartment in a beautiful neighborhood. We loved the cobblestone streets, clean neighborhood and beautiful buildings. It was close to public transportation and good walking distance to popular attractions. We enjoyed working with the staff as they were helpful, prompt and spoke English! The apartment was clean and all in working order. There are steep narrow stairs to the apartment which added to the charm of the place; these were not a problem for our family but could be for an elderly guest or someone with a lot of large, heavy luggage. Our family of 4 (with 2 small children) found the space small but well organized. We did not have a problem with the small space as we spent most of our time out enjoying Paris. We would stay again if we found ourselves in Paris at a later date.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car.

This was a fantastic rental in the Les Halls area of Paris. It is within walking distance of many of the great sights and museums and galleries of Paris. But the best part was the vibrant neighborhood with everything a first (or return) visitor to Paris could wish for. The owners were very helpful with all of our questions about the rental, how to get there and were very helpful about local places and sights. The dining in the neighborhood was excellent. Formidable!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

In Oct we spent 3 nights in Citron. This little gem was perfect for two friends exploring Paris who needed somewhere clean to sleep, with easy access to the Metro. The neighbourhood was extremely friendly and safe, and we enjoyed ourselves so much on the Montorgueil that it was hard to leave such a Parisienne neighbourhood for the tourist sites. Julie at Blue Marble travel was great. The apt was a perfect size for two friends on a budget, and was clean with a comfortable bed and pull out couch. We spent so much time sightseeing that we didn't use the kitchen, but it appeared everything was there that we would have needed, and the food was available to purchase on Montorgueil. Cheese shops, bakeries, delicatessens, produce, fish - unbelievable and fresh along with friendly service. Cafe's, restaurants and nightclubs within a few minutes walk (really!). One Metro station was a few minutes walk away, with two others also easily accessible. It was extremely easy to find our way around Paris by metro, bus and train, and Citron was located so close to a major Metro station that many of the routes connected thru so we were always a short commute from 'home'. The neighbourhood felt extremely safe, and even on a Sunday night close to midnight, there were people enjoying coffee and pastries at the cafes. A lovely walk to the Louvre and many other sites. We will definately stay at Citron or one of the other apartments again should we be able to return to Paris. It was a highlight of our trip!. -from two Canadian women celebrating 50th birthdays together-Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

i consider soleil my parisian home away from home. it's cosy, comfortable and clean; it's a block away from the rue montorgueil, which is now my favorite street in paris, and within walking distance of many of the key tourist destinations; it's a good deal; i can plug in my ipod and listen to my music and scribble in my diary while paris street life goes on under my window! (though i've also done a lot of diary-scribbling sitting outside on the rue montorgueil.) i have never stayed more than a few days, so i have never used the kitchen. i have never shared the double loft bed with anyone, and i would not except with someone i'm really good at sleeping with, because it's pretty small. and in general we're not talking about the sheraton paris, so you do have to relinquish any bourgeois habits you might have from years of business travel if you're going to stay here. which, frankly, everyone with bourgeois habits from years of business travel should do :-) strong recommendation for anyone with a sense of adventure and the intention to spend no more time than absolutely necessary inside vs. out and about in PARIS.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Very comfortable, classic Paris, spot on in a charming neighborhood. Very Parisian studio, everything you need to come home to, and yet enjoy your days like the locals: out in the cafes, museums, boutiques and parks. It's a narrow walk-up, so take a light valise vs. your honkin' American Tourister stuffed with shoes and jeans you won't wear. Owners will even lend you a map and recommend a wine to go with it. Very pleasant, tidy, clean and convenient for the on-the-go couple who wants to make the most of their time in the most beautiful city in the world.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

About: We've worked and lived in this, our favorite Parisian neighborhood, for 25 years.
Why Paris Arrondissement 2:
We are city people, and living in the medieval heart of one of the world's most beautiful, in a zone (relatively) free of cars, is a dream come true.
These apartments used to be our home. With the arrival of our 2nd child, we needed more space, and we now live a couple of blocks away. We rent out our old places to help finance our new one.
The Unique Benefits at this Studio:
Easily accessible to everything you could want to see in Paris. A huge swath of the city is accessible on foot, and convenient métro and bus routes reach the rest.
In addition, the apartment's own pedestrian neighborhood bustles with markets, boutiques, cafés, gardens, and churches. It offers contact with a typically French way of life that is a dated stereotype in many parts of the country, but which is alive and well in our little village of a neighborhood.
