The cabin was perfect for our needs, comfortable and well maintained. If you have allergies, you should know that no cabin with a wood burning stove can be as clean as your home, but a few hours with the windows open made it fine for me. Everything that could be utterly clean (linens, bathroom, etc) is clean. The view from the deck is soothing, the location is quiet--we had a fantastic time and will want to visit here again. Nice stay in Idyllwild

My husband and I visited Idyllwild for a weekend away from LA. We had a great time. The cottage was exactly as we had expected. The bed we slept in was particularly comfortable - we prefer firmer mattresses and most times when we go away the mattresses are sunken in or way too soft. This one was perfect. We made fires in the fireplace both nights. We sat on the porch and watched the birds. It was lovely. We hiked the Ernie Maxwell trail on Saturday - which was gorgeous and not overly strenuous for me (6 months pregnant). TIP: you have to get a parking pass at the CHEVRON in town before parking at the hiking trail or you will be fined $100. No one tells you where to get the parking pass so we wasted an hour trying to figure that out. Answer: Chevron! We ate at Gastrognome, Cafe Aroma and the Red Kettle. One weird thing we noticed: most servers in Idyllywild are not friendly at all. We talked with other tourists about it, too. Everyone noticed it. Not that anyone was mean - they just weren't particularly friendly. It was strange!

Wonderful Escape from Orange County

I wanted to get away from the suburban sprawl and see the stars for my 40th birthday. I contacted several renters and this one was the first to get back to me. Even though she was out of state she responded and accommodated my family quickly and efficiently. The cabin was awesome, clean, comfy and easy to find. We were thrilled to have so many extra pillows (my family has a little pillow fetish). The beds were very comfortable too. I hoped to see one of those bright blue jays from the photos and was not disappointed. There were about ten Steller's Jays flitting around the deck as soon as we woke up. The owner provided peanuts but we also brought our own. The birds and squirrels are so entertaining! I also heard an owl at night. And we all sat and watched the stars for hours, which was amazing considering that my husband and kids are usually glued to their electronics! We went to the idyllwild nature center in the day and really enjoyed a small hike. All in all it's quiet, peaceful and cozy. A perfect escape for those of us who live in the chaos of the city.

Great get away long weekend

We had a wonderful long weekend stay at the cabin. The property was clean and well maintained. We took tips from other reviews regarding the peanuts for feeding the wildlife which were abundant. Loved the waffle iron as it makes great waffles. The kitchen is well stocked and the bbq was great for our steaks and chicken. We are foodies and did visit Cafe Aroma for lunch, great place if you like some different menu items. We also stopped by Honey Bunns & Joe Bakery, great sticky buns and cinnamon rolls. Thank you Patti for sharing your home with us. We are already looking forward to another visit.

this place looks exactly like the pictures! Exceptionally clean and well stocked. It is great to go into a rental and have spices of all kinds to cook with. Bird viewing was wonderful. Easily accessible to Idyllwild. I just wish we had stayed one more night to enjoy the hiking. Next time we will. i would love to see it in the winter.

Memorial Day Weekend 2010 - My family and I, 5 of us in total, just enjoyed a real nice weekend here. The cabin was easy to get to, clean, and had everything you need to just relax and enjoy the trees and the view. We were comfortable and enjoyed breakfast and a bbq out on the deck and watched movies and hiked around. The village and hiking trails are a short drive away. We will be back.

Perfect getaway. My wife, my 2 year-old, and I had a fantastic time. The cabin, or more accurately, the house, is just a very short 3 mile drive up the hill from downtown Idyllwild, so restaurants or the school playground are easily accessible. Or if you like the seclusion, stay in and cook at home either in the fully equipped kitchen or barbeque on the balcony. Be sure to bring peanuts in the shell and the birds and squirrels will put on a constant show right outside the living room windows. We will absolutely return now that we found the perfect place.

Cozy Treetop Cabin

We stayed at this cottage last Christmas and it was so cute, clean and cozy. Our sons loved feeding the birds and squirrels on the deck and there was a large snowy park just up the road. Being opposite the fire station, the street was kept gritted and free of snow and we were just a 5 minute drive from the shops and restaurants of Idyllwild. The cabin was nicely stocked and my sons especially loved the old fashioned waffle iron and still talk about the great breakfasts overlooking the treetops :)

I meant to write quite a while ago, but the rush of travel and season events seems to have stopped me! When Elaine and I arrived at your cabin everything was just perfect. It's too bad that we weren't able to stay longer as we enjoyed the cabin, the mountains, and the town of Idyllwild. I hope we may get another chance to stay there and would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed for a weekend here in January 2009 with our 4 and 8-year-olds. Cabin was just right for four: cozy, warm and clean. In the DVD collection was a variety to suit every taste. The cabin's slightly higher elevation than Idyllwild let the girls enjoy their first snowfall. Thanks, Patti!

It was a year ago, we spent a week, what a great time. Clean, clean, clean. Squirells, birds, raccoon. A bottle of wine on the table. The kids had a great time. we unwound. pleasant ride to the village. The deck is to die for!

I was delighted with my stay in this cozy and spotlessly maintained cabin. It was the perfect size for my needs and it had all the amenities I was looking for too. The southern exposure provided lots of daylight to the great room (living room, kitchen and dining area). The evergreen tree view with sky and mountains in the background was incredibly soothing. The spacious deck is frequented by friendly birds and squirrels, so even when I was in the great room it felt like I was out in nature. And the quiet was divine. I plan to return many times in the future!
