This cottage is just a short walk to the beach - and a short walk to the canals behind the house w/a public boat ramp. The top deck has Rocking chairs, 3 hammocks on the middle deck and 2 hammocks on the lower deck outside the fenced-in pool area. The pool area has a hot tub, lounge chairs and Andirondack chairs.
The Great Room/kitchen/dining room and foosball area are on the top floor - with views of the Ocean to the Sound. Upstairs the kitchen has 2 dishwashers, smooth-top cookstove, large center island with 6 bar stools, and side by side refrigerator with ice-maker. The dining room has a 10 foot table that seats 16 guests- perfect for cracking crabs that can be caught in the canals that are located just one block behind the house. We have over-stocked the kitchen with every amenity we could think of. You will not run out of dishes, silverware, coffee cups or wine glasses - even with the largest groups.
The upstairs also has a Master bedroom with a King size bed and private bath. All the bedrooms (except the middle floor bunk room) have their own slider door access to the deck that allow you to access the pool/hot tub privately from each room. The lower floor has a game room with pool table and 2nd kitchen.
OBX MAGIC - by Karli DiBenedetto age 9
In the Outer Banks during the night, it's nice to lay awake without fright
With the breeze in your hair, laying there without a care
Dreaming what you will do tomorrow, dreaming without sorrow
Horses to see, places to be
Going here, going there, going anywhere
Laying on the beach, grabbing shells within reach
It's time to go, didn't you know
My heart sank when I was forced to leave the Outer Banks.
We hope you enjoy your stay at our Cottage as much as our family does.

Secluded Beach House in Wild Horse 4wd Area
Year Purchased: 2003
Why the Owner Chose Carova
Carova Beach is a quiet secluded beach and we fell in love with the area. The first time we walked over the dunes at night and we could see every star in the sky, I knew that we would buy a home in that area. We love it so much that we are building another new home on the canals in 2010 (this cottage will be 1000' to the beach but still offer the quick water access to the canals). We love to explore, fish and crab in the canal system that leads out to the Albermarle Sound.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We love to be able to drive onto the beach with all of our chairs, coolers, dogs and toys, Hang out on the beach until late in the evening and spend time with friends and family one day and the next day spend it exploring and fishing in the canal/sound. It is a small community and we enjoy our friends that we have met.

Wonderful experience and the house is just as advertised. We had horses in the carport, crabs in the pot and fish on the grill. Not only is the house a great place to stay it is very functional with privacy for each couple and great areas to be together for meals and play. Everyone we met was so polite and friendly we felt right at home the whole time. As first time visitors to the OB we were impressed by the absence of "tourist trap" type enterprises. Food, clothes, fishing equipment and souvenirs were all reasonably priced. I brought a new fishing rod with me that I got on sale and found the same one in the local bate shop at $2 less regular price. The prices and quality at the local Food Lion are as good as any I have seen.

Remember me

In so many ways I had forgotten who I was. I sorely needed a place that would help me escape the drudery of the routine that consumed 18 of every 24 hours of my days. No incessant phone calls, no being constantly needed. I chose the Tern & Stumble Inn for its remote location and natural beauty, hoping it would be everything the owner decribed. It was so much more. If you need a place to refresh your soul, this is it. It is casual, comfortable, secluded and quiet. The sunrises, sunsets and moonrises were breathtaking. The wild horses were amazing. I had the rare opportunity to see two young mustangs romping in the surf just before sunrise. Under a watercolor sky, just them and me, not another soul on the beach during our mid-September stay. The owners were very helpful in answering questions and the house lacked nothing. I now remember who I am and I hope the Tern & Stumble Inn remembers me because I left a piece of my heart there, hopefully to be reclaimed another day, another time.

Thank you for the great rental. Everything was great and our girls really enjoyed the visits from the wild horses. The information that you provided prior to our trip was done very nicely and was of great help. The house had plenty of room for the 10 guests that came with us and the kitchen was great. Thanks again.

Our week at the house was a great experience. Everything about the house was exactly as advertised. The house was clean and everything was in good working order. The owner was very helpful, providing advice for enjoying our stay and driving on the beach since this was our first trip to the Outer Banks, and the 4 wheel area is a unique place. All total, there were four families there for the week and the house provided all the room and comfort we needed. We spent evenings on the upper deck watching the wild horses and the foxes on the dunes. We learned it would be helpful to have a beach umbrella or a pop-up shelter to take to the beach for a break from the sun. I also learned that a 63-year-old grandfather should not try skimboarding without kneepads and a helmet. We would recommend the house to anyone wanting a restful week at the beach.

We had a wonderful time swimming at the beautiful beach and in the pool and hot tub. The rooms were very clean and nice. Brenda was very accomadating, when there was problems with the internet I called her and she helped me fix the problems. There is a very nice kitchen that we were able to cook just about everything, including amazing seafood! Thanks so much for the amazing time and fun memories!!

Wow what a great place for a family vacation. We had a total of 19 people with 7 children under the age of 5 For as big as our family is we were always occupied with the horses, playing at the beach and early walks on the beach looking for shells. We found many sand dollars. It was great weather except for our last 2 days we had rain. The location of your home is perfect for privacy and the short walk to and from the beach helped to tucker out all our little ones. We definately look forward to coming back.

This has been the best vacations ever. My husband has never relaxed in all the years we have been vacationing. We are in our mid 30's he is a workaholic always work on the mind and this has been the 1st time ever that he is not ready to go home and would like to stay longer. This will definately be our vacation spot from here out. Maybe even find land of our own to buy down the road. You can't even try to explain this place to friends and family enough it is something you just have to experience once yourself and you will be hooked. Thank you for opening your home for our family

Definately coming in 2010. Be careful we almost got fined because a horse came up too us and let us pet him. We were standing on the beach and a horse charged right before me and then the horses ( two stallions) go on their back legs and fought over the female.... pretty cool...!!! wanted to stay forever. Love it here
