Great location - too bad there is no elevator!

The apartment is as described. It was spacious enough for our family of 2 adults and 3 school aged children. The shower is american style (i.e. stand up shower) that has a glass divide which will keep most but not all of the water from getting onto the bathroom floor. The furnishings were fine but felt a little dated. The beds were not as comfortable as hoped but it was not a big issue. The laundry room/storage is in a closet type area tucked away in the loft area. It's easy to access but there isn't much height in the room, good enough for me though I am only 5'6". All your various sight seeing locations are either walking distance or easily accessible by the Metro which there are 2 metro locations within a 5 minute walk from the apartment. Again as noted in the description there are various shops, restaurants a pharmacy and even a small grocery store within a very short distance of the apartment. The closest attractions to the apartment are Luxembourg Gardens and Montparnasse Tower - both are walking distance but you could take the Metro to the Tower which is about a 15-20 minute walk or 2 stops down on the Metro. As a side tip: get familiar with the Metro as well as study a street map before arriving, we lost some time on our trip because we got lost while walking and could have easily taken the metro to get around a lot faster! There are various bus stops as well but we decided not to use the bus system - we relied on the Metro, RER and taxi on a few occasions. The only issue with the apartment as is stated on the description is that its on the 4th floor and there is no lift/elevator. It was manageable for us but it may be too much to handle for others. I moved the majority of the luggage when we arrived and left - it was a bit tiring but manageable. Also the apartment is on the opposite of the street side of the building. The street side has your typical amount of busy street noise. We were surprised how quiet it is on the opposite side where the apartment is. The first morning we went out of the apartment and thought nothing was going on, but as soon as you walk out you hear/see how busy the street gets! I would definitely recommend this property to a friend and we would stay here again on our next trip. I would have easily given a 5 star review if there was an elevator to get up to the apartment.

Terrific Apartment

We had a wonderful stay in this apartment. It's in a great location, there is a fine restaurant across the street, a bakery right next door, and a grocery store around the corner. The metro is nearby, yet it's an easy walk to many Paris attractions. The apartment is light and airy, and very quiet, the kitchen well equipped. The windows are delightful. The owner and agent were both very helpful. We would be happy to stay again!

Wonderful Location

This was my first trip to Paris. It was a trip of a lifetime and this apartment was part of the special experience. The neighbor hood was quiet, beautiful, and so convenient. The Luxemborg Gardens was so close and a spectacular place to sit and watch the world go by. So many bakeries to walk to and try croissants and baguettes. On Sunday when looking for my morning croissant I found this wonderful open air market which had every imaginable food (raw and prepared) just a 2 blocks from this apartment. The chocolate shop on the corner-only steps from our front door was one mentioned in one of my tour books. Decadent. The apartment was clean, well appointed, and the kitchen had everything one needs to prepare a meal. If I ever get the opportunity to go back I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this apartment.

Lovely place

We were there at the end of August when the weather was quite hot. The apartment has lots of windows which provided great ventilation. The apartment is a comfortable, welcoming pied-a-terre for exploring Paris. There are bakeries and shops close by. It is within walking distance of many of Paris's major sites. The Jardin du Luxembourg - a jewel in the middle of Paris - is just around the corner. The owners were friendly and accommodating. If we make it back to Paris we would love to stay there again.

Fantastic Paris apartment

Traveling to Paris on business, 3 colleagues and I were extremely pleased with our accommodations in this lovely apartment. The location was perfect, the neighborhood was quiet and a short walking distance from our conference venue, the Luxembourg gardens, and major Paris attractions including the Latin Quarter, Notre Dame and the Louvre. Nearby Metro stations provide access to anywhere in Paris. There was plenty of space for 4 unrelated adults, and the fully equipped kitchen saved us considerably on meals. Cafes, coffee shops and fully stocked grocery stores are steps away. The free wireless Internet access was great for business, keeping in touch with friends and colleagues and planning excursions in Paris. The apartment owners and local manager were extremely helpful. The only negative was climbing 70 steps to the top-story apartment, you must be in good shape to stay here! On the positive side, being on the top story gave us more space and great breezes in this airy apartment. I would definitely stay there again--so much better than a tiny, expensive hotel room.

Wonderful apartment... wonderful location

We stayed here in June and had a wonderful experience. The apartment itself is nicely furnished and was welcoming & comfortable after long days enjoying everything Paris has to offer. But it was probably the atmosphere we enjoyed the most. The neighborhood was safe and convenient to the metro. There are 2 small grocery shop options within a few blocks. The windows of the apartment open onto a courtyard that was so quiet it was hard to believe we were in the city. Only a few blocks from the Jardin du Luxembourg, we visited daily. Don't miss the nearby boulangerie that has warm baguettes and croissants. There are several restaurants nearby... we enjoyed a few near St. Sulpice. The Selden's were great hosts and easy to work with. Yes, we would go back again... in a heartbeat.

Heavenly Roost

I stayed here for almost a month and couldn't have asked for a better home away from home. Lovely view of Paris roof tops, lots of light, quiet, and overlooking a pretty courtyard with beautiful songbirds in the morning. This ideally located apt. is only 200 meters from Jardin du Luxembourg which is an Eden of humanity. Given its ideal location in the Latin Quarter, if you like to walk, and everyone should in Paris, you can walk to all the museums and sights. My hosts, Fred and Catherine Seldon, were terrific and their facilitator in Paris, Tanya, made sure everything went without a hitch. Given another chance, I would return here in a heartbeat.

My daughter and I stayed at this apartment during our recent trip to Paris. It's location is perfect, the property is clean and inviting and the neighborhood is quiet. There are a number of formidable stairs to climb, but the effort is worth it. The apartment overlooks a serene internal courtyard and even has a small balcony. We would recommend this apartment and hope to stay here again in the future.

Lovely stay in Paris

Guest: Wendy (Calgary, Alberta Canada)
Date of Stay: 09/09/10 Review Submitted: 11/13/11

Stayed at this apartment Sept 9 to 14 2011 - perfect location and lovely accomodations. The unit was clean, quiet and comfortable, and had big windows that opened up on to a lovely courtyard. We were a few minutes walk from cafes and the beautiful gardens. If I return to Paris again in the future, this will be my first choice for accomodations. The only issue we had was that the apartment phone wasn't working at the time (a problem since we were dealing with a lost luggage situation). The owners did do their best to help out, but the circumstances caused us a fair bit of hassle trying to work out arrangements with the airport. Note that this apartment is NOT suitable for those with mobility problems or small children. There are about 80 steps up to the apartment and there are steep, open stairs inside the unit leading up to the loft. Perfect for young, healthy adults but worth noting if stairs are not your thing!

Owner response:Thank you for your kind review. Regarding the phone: at the time of Wendy's stay, we were in the process of changing telephone system so we could offer our guests free calls to most countries in the world (USA, Canada, Australia, all of europe, including local calls). It was a bit of a struggle to find out what to plug where but we now have a new phone number and the system works beautifully.. It was a pity that the transition occurred in the midst of a luggage snafu.. so sorry Wendy. Catherine

Our family had a lovely Christmas in this warm and charming apartment, with plenty of room, with lots to do around us and just the best introduction to Paris for us "first-timers".Thanks for letting it.

This is a lovely apartment in a wonderful location. My husband & I were there with our 3 teenagers this July & had plenty of room. An added plus was having the limo pick us up at the airport & drop us right at the apt. - well worth the money. I would rent this apt. again in a heartbeat!
