Caspar house description

Caspar Coast House, 3,116 square ft., designed and built by the property owner in 2005. The home's floor plan is perfect for social gatherings, good flow for guests, and easy-access to outdoor patios from any of the ocean view rooms.

There is plenty of level outdoor space on the 1-1/4 acre lot, a fire-pit, picnic/patio tables, and a green-house -garden area with hot-tub lounge space.

There are three-bedrooms; and two-bathrooms, equipped with in-tub steam-sauna units; laundry; and a spacious living, dining and kitchen, all with ocean view and outdoor patios.

In the upstairs bedroom there are three beds (queen, double, and single size), a couch, dining table, SAT/TV/DVD, a steam sauna unit in the tub-shower, extra refridgerator, and ocean view deck.

The bedrooms downstairs each have a queen-size bed, and located in the closet of the larger of those two bedrooms, is a portable play-pen that can used as a bed for toddlers.

In the living room there is a queen-size sofa bed and a double-size futon couch; bookshelves with a wide variety of reading material, games and puzzles; and a large, flat screen SAT/HD-TV/DVD entertainment system.

The kitchen has a copper covered center island, with a gas cooking stove and oven that faces the ocean view. A cozy couch in the kitchen is a nice place to relax with a glass of wine and keep the chef company while they cook. There are 2-double sinks, 2-dishwashers, lots of granite counter space and a large pantry. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware, dishes, table linens, serving platters, coffee makers, small appliances, etc...

Other amenitites include a south facing glass house, with hot-tub, shower, and garden space. Enhance the relaxation experience with a Swedish-style massage from a licensed professional at the on-site studio. $60.00/$80.00 for 1 and 1-1/2 hour sessions.

Caspar Coast House is located on a level lot. 1-1/4 acres of ocean view property, providing plenty of space for guests to set up an event tent, volleyball net, or play other yard games. Concrete patios and driveways surround the house, make good ball, bike, and push/pull-toy areas for Children to play. Some play items and a few bikes/trikes are on-site.

Each room is comfortably furnished, and there is an excellent entertainment system with indoor/outdoor speakers, wireless I-Tunes, and a docking station for personal MP3 and I-Pod players, cameras, and games. Wireless internet throughout the house.

Great location! It is less than a 1/2 mile to two beaches: Jughandle State Park and the Caspar Creek Headlands Park. Jackson State Forest, located south of the Caspar Coast House property boundary, has many biking, hiking, and horseback riding trails. Point Cabrillo Lighthouse and state park is approx. 1 mile southwest of Caspar Coast House.

The Victorian village of Mendocino is 5-miles south, the historical town of Fort Bragg is 6-miles north.

The Skunk-train depot is located in Fort Bragg and can take riders inland for a scenic trip through the redwoods. Also in Fort Bragg is the C.V. Starr Center, a marvelous indoor swim center, with a huge water slide and 'river walk'. The center also has exercise classes, party space, gym, dog park, and skate park. North of Fort Bragg, in Cleone, there are horseback riding tours on the beach.

Caspar Coast House is available on a sliding scale. The flexible rates are based on the number of guests, length of visit, and type of rental.

Day-use rental for parties, baby/bridal showers, and special events is also available.

The above quoted $250.00 nightly rental fee, is the base rate for 2-adult guests, renting the downstairs, 2-bd/1-ba, portion of the main home. All taxes and cleaning services are included in the rental fee.

For large parties, events, and weddings, additional fees will apply.

This is a fabulous home for a big group. We had 10 people, everyone had a place to sleep and the kitchen was big enough to cook a dinner for all. The property is beautiful with a wonderful view. There are lots of places to hike and the beach is very close. Birdie is a great owner, very accommodating and helpful. Would highly recommend this rental.

Our entire soccer team stayed in this lovely home for a weekend tournament in Fort Bragg and we rented both units to accommodate the group. Birdie could not have been more responsive and hospitable to our needs. The house is wonderful; very open floor plan with lots of nooks to enjoy a quiet conversation or take in the view. The outside space is wonderful; plenty of outdoor furniture and space to explore. The hot tub was fantastic and the girls enjoyed some nice hiking and walking to the beach. The kitchen was well stocked and had virtually every implement you could need and it was so comfortable to cook in. We can't wait to figure out how to get back before the tournament next year. This would be a wonderful home for a family reunion or a friends' getaway. Fort Bragg and Mendocino are only a few miles away each and the ocean view from the house is fantastic! You will not be disappointed.

Our group had such a great time at this home. The pictures truly don't do it justice, it is beautiful, spacious, and comfortable. The home was spotless when we arrived. There is amazing art all over the home. It is right between Mendocino and Fort Bragg, a very easy drive to either one. Also an easy drive to Caspar Beach which is one of the best beaches I've been to on the Northern California coast. We didn't' make it to Jughandle but that's also very close. The views of the ocean from the home were great, but far enough away to not have to worry about losing a child over a cliff. Plenty of room for the kids to run around and play. The hot tub is a very nice one. The fire pit was all set up for us, we just had to light a match and we had an awesome campfire. You won't regret staying here, it is a truly beautiful home that is very comfortable and livable. We look forward to returning next year.

We spent 4 days here in Caspar. We easily could have spent several more days and had plenty to do. The house is incredibly cozy and spacious. Our 3 young kids had a blast and we had to coax them away from this nice home every day. The hot tub is wonderfully enticing and the kitchen is a dream to cook in. The views are lovely and quiet. We leave here feeling refreshed and relaxed. I highly recommend getting a massage, Birdie is fantastic and it is so nice to have it right here on the property. The house is nicely located in between Ft Bragg and Mendocino. It was a short drive into either town, but not a hassle at all. We preferred the activity of Ft Bragg to Mendocino but bother a quaint. Definitely go to Sea Glass beach - that was fun! There are so many places to hike, beach, eat fun activities with kids. We had a fabulous time. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone, with or without kids.

Me and my eight friends enjoyed this house immensely. Plenty of room for horseshoes and whiffle ball. Walking distance to the Caspar Inn for music and drinks. Quick trip to Fort Bragg or Mendocino for Surf, Supplies, Art, and other fun. Kitchen is very large, as is the outdoor gas grill. Parking is great. House owners live across the street and are very accessible (without being nosy) if there are any unmet needs. I also appreciated the per person rates for 8 or more people. This allows flexibility with the party size without impacting everyone's cost. I highly recommending staying here and hope that I can return in the future.

We rented this beautiful and very relaxing home for our family as well as my parents and brother. We cannot say enough about the wonderful atmosphere and beauty of this ocean home. Everything from the decor to the spacious living area and kitchen to the exceptional sound system is more than we could have hoped for. Thank you making our stay so relaxing and enjoyable. We hope to do it again in the future.

and always able to return to the patio views of the ocean. Our time at Caspar Coast House was relaxing & restorative to a spirit trapped inland far too long. Hope to return and will be sharing photos & stories with fellow land-locked spirits. Many thanks to Birdie and Howie...you bring joy to the experience.

                      Owner info

About the owner: Our family business is developing residential homes we design and construct ourselves. The homes are available for short-or-long-term rental and for sale. The owner/property manager is also a licensed Realtor, who has extensive knowledge of the sales and rental market on the coast, and can help folks find their own dream property in the Mendocino area. We love what we do and think of the process as a multi-media art project, on a BIG canvas! It is a lot of hard work, but also a creative and satisfying career. It is fun when we get to meet the travelers we host and always interesting to hear where they like to travel and why. Their comments are appreciated and help us build a travelog of places to go and things to do. The seven-acre Caspar Coast House property was purchased in 1996. The home was designed specifically for the east side of the property, a 1-1/4 acre lot. It was designed with a guest's comfort and privacy in mind. Construction began in 1999, and was mostly completed by July of 2005, when we added Caspar Coast House to the vrbo listings and first welcomed our extended family for visits to help build word-of-mouth advertising. The 'art project' continues today and we're very happy so many folks return to Caspar Coast House to see the progress and renew friendships. The Mendocino coast is a wonderful place to visit.

                      Why the Owner Chose Caspar:
When looking for property to build a new home we considered the north coast to be the perfect place. Mendocino County was already home and everything we wanted in a place to live: Natural beauty, ocean views, a healthy eco-system, wildlife, quality restaurants, boutique shopping, and cultural activities. There is much to enjoy on the north coast, including many parks and trails to explore. Caspar Coast House is located between two thriving towns, Mendocino, and Fort Bragg. Each with their own unique personality and a variety of entertainment opportunities to choose from. The tiny community of Caspar has much more to offer than meets the eye. Caspar Inn & the Caspar Community Center offer live music, organic food and festivals. Cottage-crafts persons and many talented artists, working in a multitude of mediums, create wonderful products to shop locally for. The mild climate produces abundant varieties of flora and fauna and many lovely gardens. Tour the Mendocino Botanical Garden, '47-acres to the sea.' There is a lot of locally grown organic fresh food available, and many fine-quality restaurant options for every taste and budget.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
The views from Caspar Coast House are constantly changing. The light, color and textures of the ocean, sky, forest and meadow always provides something wonderful to see. The 'nature channel' is always on. Caspar Coast House is a great place to observe nature and the natural cycles. Peaceful and rural here, there's much to appreciate and enjoy. There are many areas around the house and gardens to comfortably relax, and enjoy the views. Add to the retreat experience by reserving time for a relaxing, restorative body work session at the on-site massage studio. With the hot-tub and steam-saunas to use as well, it's as if you have your own exclusive day-spa to use anytime. Rest and restore in private, without having to drive somewhere else to share services with the general public. Everything at your leisure, for a fraction of the cost. Organic gardens on the property offer fresh food and flowers most of the year.
