Baers’ Den is the perfect mountain getaway in any season. Taos Ski Valley is known for great skiing in the winter. Hikers enjoy cool alpine breezes in the summer. Visitors love the gorgeous mountain scenery all year long. Built in 2005, and located at the Inn at Taos Valley, this condo is beautifully decorated with rustic furniture and southwestern artwork.
The master bedroom has a king-size bed, plus there is a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room. The condo also features a Jack and Jill-style bath and a half. All linens are provided.
The fully-equipped kitchen includes a combination microwave and convection oven; toaster oven; coffee maker; four burner stove; refrigerator; dishwasher; a full set of gourment cookware; cooking utensils; and, dishes, glassware, and flatware for six. Granite countertops add a nice touch.
The mountain views are spectacular. There is an on-site hot tub, as well as ski lockers and laundry facilities. Ski shops and restaurants are located just one to two miles up the road.
Taking a 'bear-back' ride in the Baers' Den!

It had been years since I had explored the woods of northern New Mexico so when my traveling companion mentioned an opportunity to stay at the Baers' Den condo in Taos, I was really excited to return to the area! While Taos Ski Valley isn't one of the best known ski areas in the US, it is a great value and offers lots of varied ski terrain. Taos is also an art lover's mecca with dozens of galleries and artisans markets. It's a beautiful drive from either Denver or Albuquerque.
This beautiful new condo is about one mile from the base of the ski slopes and with the excellent shuttle system at the resort you can be skiing within minutes of leaving the condo. There are several good restaurants at the base and more in Arroyo Seco and Taos minutes away back down the mountain. The building was very well thought out with very wide hallways to ease carrying your luggage to the condo. The condo itself is nicely appointed with a gas kiva-style fireplace with timer and had a CD/DVD/VHS/tuner and TV for our entertainment. A large sliding door opens up in the living room to bring the outdoors in and provides a beautiful view of the forests and mountains surrounding the Taos Ski Valley.
Henry, the building's developer and manager was available for questions and suggestions at any point during our stay and had maps and guide books available to help us plan our activities. He pointed out the hiking trails directly out the back of the condo which would make nice summer explorations!
Consider staying at the Baers' Den for your next vacation, whether summer or winter. I made lots of new friends here with all of the bears that 'inhabit' the condo. It was almost like a family reunion!

Location is superb as it is the next best thing to staying on the mountain. Although it is not a ski in ski out location you are exactly two minutes away from Taos Ski Valley parking lots. After a full day of skiing it is a pleasure to escape the mountain activity to this quiet retreat. The unit is very well maintained and beautifully furnished in typical New Mexico decor. The one bedroom condo has a great connecting bathroom making it ideal for a family of 3. The kitchen area although somewhat small is easily accessible for a short stay. We had an easy time for the three of us to having our breakfast and dinner meals at the condo. Parking is right in front of the building and although there is no elevator the unit is the first one you come to on the second floor. At night there is virtually no traffic on the road so even with the windows open during the summer season, it should be very quiet. The oversize outdoor hot tub is also excellent and after a day of skiing we seemed to be the only ones to be using it. It is also very special at night as on a clear night (as most evenings are) the sky lights up with numerous stars. You definitely will not see this type of sky in the city. We highly recommend this condo and would not hesitate to stay here again on our next return visit. Anette & Marvin, Montreal, QC

My wife and I stayed at Baer's Den for a week in July. The condo itself was in excellent condition. The weather, scenery, and wildlife in the Taos Ski Valley were also exceptional. There's a lot to do in the area: white water rafting and kayaking on the Rio Grande, enjoying the art in Taos, hiking in the ski valley itself. The proprietor of Baer's Den was more than helpful; she quickly answered every question I had, went out of her way to give information about activities in the area, and did not hurry me into a decision. Baer's Den was an excellent place to stay and I'd gladly recommend it to friends and family.

My family and I really enjoyed our stay in Baers' Den for our family ski vacation. The condo is clean, very spacious, well maintained and wonderfully furnished with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Taos Ski Area is just a short drive that takes no more than five to ten minutes, even when road conditions are not optimal. The lift lines were virtually non-existent and the trails were groomed and uncrowded during our stay. Lori Baer was very attentive in answering any questions we had before and after our stay. I've been going to Taos Ski Valley for several years now and the accommodations at Baers' Den rank near the top. I will definitely recommend it to friends and consider staying there again in the future.
