Taking a 'bear-back' ride in the Baers' Den!
VRBO Bear stayed here - 02/06/2006 - on site review:
It had been years since I had explored the woods of northern New Mexico so when my traveling companion mentioned an opportunity to stay at the Baers' Den condo in Taos, I was really excited to return to the area! While Taos Ski Valley isn't one of the best known ski areas in the US, it is a great value and offers lots of varied ski terrain. Taos is also an art lover's mecca with dozens of galleries and artisans markets. It's a beautiful drive from either Denver or Albuquerque.
This beautiful new condo is about one mile from the base of the ski slopes and with the excellent shuttle system at the resort you can be skiing within minutes of leaving the condo. There are several good restaurants at the base and more in Arroyo Seco and Taos minutes away back down the mountain. The building was very well thought out with very wide hallways to ease carrying your luggage to the condo. The condo itself is nicely appointed with a gas kiva-style fireplace with timer and had a CD/DVD/VHS/tuner and TV for our entertainment. A large sliding door opens up in the living room to bring the outdoors in and provides a beautiful view of the forests and mountains surrounding the Taos Ski Valley.
Henry, the building's developer and manager was available for questions and suggestions at any point during our stay and had maps and guide books available to help us plan our activities. He pointed out the hiking trails directly out the back of the condo which would make nice summer explorations!
Consider staying at the Baers' Den for your next vacation, whether summer or winter. I made lots of new friends here with all of the bears that 'inhabit' the condo. It was almost like a family reunion!
