After my parents died I bought our family home from my brothers. I wanted to keep it in the family so all our grandchildren would always have a place to return to. Keeping a connection to each other and the land is so very important for Hawaiians.
The home truly is a great place for family and friends to reconnect. The amenities both inside (ie: 3 types of olive oil, 4 types of coffee makers, panini press etc.) and outside (bikes, surfboards etc.)provide everything you might need to have a great family holiday.
I loved growing up in this home in Kailua. We walked or rode our bikes everywhere. Because we lived so close to the beach my friends, Richie Wong, Pat Soares, Ervin Lee and Mark Kuhlman spent almost every afternoon at our house. After school, we had a snack, did some homework then crossed the street to the beach and body surfed until we all had to go home for dinner.
On the weekends, after our chores we would take our allowance and walk to town to buy shaved ice (snow cones) and Big Hunk candy bars. We would ride our bikes into Maunawili Valley then hike to the falls to swim.
