We loved this house; very quiet, perfectly clean, spacious, and the kitchen is fully stocked with everything one would need to cook (though we didn't, except for breakfast -- too many good pubs close by!). Upon arrival we found the fridge stocked with all the fixings for a hot breakfast, which was much appreciated, not to mention the wine and cookies! Location is peaceful, surrounded by fields and next to a hiking path. The village of Steeple Ashton is about a mile down the lane; my husband would pop down there every morning to pick up delicious, just-made crossaints, a different flavor every day, and just 69p, at the little village store, which also offers Internet, groceries and surprisingly good coffees. So many major tourist sites are less than an hour's drive away: Stonehenge (45 minutes via the farm lanes), Avebury (even closer), Lacock Abbey, Bath (about 30 minutes), etc. A little farther but still an easy drive are Glastonbury, Wells, Salisbury, Malmsebury Abbey and Gardens, and cute villages in the Cotswolds (we especially enjoyed touring Woodchester Mansion in Uley, a very haunted unfinished Victorian "castle.") After a long day of touring, it was wonderful to come back to this quiet and comfortable and very pretty house.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Very nice little cottage, ideal for 4 people that want to explore Wilthsire In June 2011 we (4 adults) spend a couple of days in Hinton Lodge. Hinton Lodge is a very nice little cottage, with lots of privacy and all amenities that one would need. We felt very welcome with the fridge already stocked with some food and drinks. Wireless internet connection via a modem is available, although speed is (a bit) slow. The owners, who live very close by, were very helpful and apologized for the spotty email connection – due to the location of the cottage. The cottage has a guest book with interesting information and reviews/descriptions of trips that previous renters have made – very informative! One of the bedrooms in the cottage is a bit small (as stated on the website) but 2 adults of our company could sleep comfortable there anyway. The lodge is ideally suited for trips in Wiltshire and Sommerset. While at the lodge, we spend a (rainy) day going to Wells Chathedral, a beautiful and impressive building, and the Cheddar gorge. We also visited the extraordinary city of Bath, the stone circles of Stonehenge and Avebury and the medieval villages of Castle Combe and Lacock.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Hinton Lodge is a beautiful house in which we felt very comfortable and which became a home for us for the two weeks of our stay. As city people, we really liked the chance to use a real chimney. The house is equipped with everything one could need and whenever we needed help, one of you were there. Thank you for a wonderful time and for being there for us!Did you find this review helpful?
