Indigo Mountain Cottage is a magical getaway nestled between two large hills and beside a crystal clear babbling brook and dense forest, situated on five acres. Wildlife abounds and privacy and solitude await you. Adult-friendly cottage (not suited for children under 14) is very cozy and romantic - you may never want to leave!
Historic homestead gifted by Thomas Jefferson and fully restored and renovated to a charming, three-bedroom, two-bath cottage befitting the most discriminate guest. One over-sized four poster queen, one antique queen in master, a double bunkie (double down and single up). Downstairs bedroom has it's own ensuite bathroom and private entrance to newly glassed in porch. Fully equipped kitchen including microwave, dishwasher, coffee pot. For a mere night's lodging fee for a nice room elsewhere, you get the entire cottage!
Floyd, Virginia, is the home of the Friday Night Jamboree and is on the Bluegrass Music Trail known as the Crooked Road. This area is not to be missed if you love the Blue Ridge Mountains, love nature, music, fun, and people, and enjoy wineries. Chateau Morrisette nearby is where our daughter was married. They offer many concerts and wine tasting events year round.

Why the Owner Chose Floyd
We love the quiet solitude and babbling brook outside our back door. Birds, butterflies, and wildlife galore live around the cottage and visit us often. Cindy's maternal family has lived in the area for 10 generations!
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse
Could life get better? Beautifully renovated century old + farmhouse with every amenity a person could dream of. Even Caswell Massey personal toiletry items come with rentals. Near all points of interest in the area and a great hang-out spot to rest after a long day of participating in the growing list of local events.
Owner's Map of Floyd
Bill and Cindy purchased this lovely cottage as their future "summer" retirement home - near Cindy's large family and gorgeous Blue Ridge Parkway. Since we aren't quite ready to hang it up just yet, we are providing the cottage as a guest respite from the hectic "city life". However this is not suited for small children as it isn't "child proof" and contains antiques and breakable items.

What a quiet & peaceful haven from the rush of everyday life. Cozy, warm, truly inviting and an incredibly comfortable home. We all enjoyed ourselves (fishing, cooking, shopping, relaxing in front of the fire, etc) finding our own thing yet sitting down for meals for "together time" was refreshing. Thank you for such a wonderful retreat, we will treasure our visit for years to come.

We received a negative comment due to not accepting a reservation for a party of 10 to stay at our cottage. We advertise the occupancy level as 6 adults. Unfortunately, with larger parties we typically receive some amount of damage as you would expect and cannot accomodate 10 guests in the cottage. We did however try to find the person other accomodations.

Sitting on the porch in the early AM listening to the “crik”. Second visit: My husband taught our daughter how to play chess and checkers and we all loved it!
