We enjoyed beign on the North Side of the Island, with less going on. Found the local grocery store and other vendors to be very friendly and accomodating. The on-site manager was helpful and we felt secure througout our stay. Conract, check-in check-out was easy, facilities were as advertised. Bathtub Beach was nice and safe. You do need a car and expect some driving on 2 lane roads when you go out to explore. Would recommend bringing your own snorkeling gear if you have that in mind. Vacationing in Hawaii was just what we needed!

My family and I stayed at this home for a week in Sept while dropping my daughter off at BYU. It's just lovely! Just as described in the ad! Martha, the property manager, was warm and welcoming, meeting us at the door and making sure we were well taken care of. Its a perfect location, close to all attractions and with a perfect beach right outside your back door. So quiet and peaceful. Thank you for a wonderful stay in such a beautiful area!

My wife & son and I stayed here for 8 days in August 2011. It was quiet, clean, very comfy. The caretakers are nice and helpful, and the owner was in town too (she's also very nice and friendly). The beach access is awesome. Yes - it really does have an awesome view (way better than the pictures show in my opinion). I was worried it might get hot, but the wind blows through very nicely and it keeps it nice and cool. I slept like a baby every night. It was soooo relaxing. We only saw people on the beachfront a couple times our whole 8-day stay. The neighbors were all very quiet and we never heard a peep from any of them. All you hear is the surf and the breeze crashing on the shore 20-25 yards below. There is a nice stairway leading to the bathtub beach area. It is literally across the street from the PCC (which I recommend highly). I'd recommend it to anyone - just not when we are wanting it :) It is neat to walk the bathtub reef at low tide - but get some of those felt-soled reef shoes (tabbies) from Walmart, so it isn't so slippery. The bathtub beach is calmest at lower tides, when the barrier is above the surf.
Owner response:Nice to meet you and thanks for the awesome review. It is a wonderful view and hard to capture in pictures. We are delighted you had a great time. Thanks, come see us again. Victoria

This home worked out wonderfully! The owner and the caretaker were both a huge help to us, and we would highly recommend renting one of their properties. They were very helpful in finding us 2 rentals to accomodate our group. Thank you Victoria!

I arranged for our family to spend quality time in Hawaii. I was fortunate to have my parents and sisters and brothers gather from all areas of the US. We had a memorable vacation. Although my parents are in the 70's they had no problem getting around especially on the wonderful beach out front. We could walk to the luau across the street. Would highly recommend it. Thanks to Martha for being such a great resource and the friendly owner Victoria. You made planning our trip so easy, one we will want to repeat. Thanks for the spotless and very clean home, even under the beds! I'm a bit of a clean freak and couldn't any cleaning issues. What a wonderful experience. Sitting outside on the picknick table was wonderful. The ocean views and wonderful fresh breeze can't be experience anywhere else - not like this. It was a memorable vacation and one we will repeat. Thank you so much Victoria and Martha

I'm 75 and appreciate the finer things in life, like family. We had the perfect family gather at this home. There was enough room for all of us. We especially enjoyed the pick nick table by the ocean. What a perfect place to gather. The sleeping was comfortable and we loved being able to do laundry. Thanks to Martha and Keld, they always answered our calls and questions. The perfect management for a wonderful home. The house was spotless and the most well maintained home. We had our own parking out front and could easily get the walker into the home and around. I would recommend this home to anyone with family. The beach was very private and hardly anyone was there. We drove to other beaches only to find crowds. This was the perfect get away place for relaxing and enjoying all of Hawaii. Hope to return again
Owner response:Delighted to have you and return again. We are glad you enjoyed our home. We look forward to your return

I had to travel to Hawaii for an unfortunate trip, cancer treatment. We were lucky to have selected this lovely home. Martha was a wonderful hostess. The house was spotless and had everything we needed. We traveled with a 6 year old and he spent the entire time at the beach. It is just like the picture, giant sand area and shallow water at low tide. He had so much fun. We tried to go to other beaches, but they were crowded with tourists. This beach was totally private and I would certainly recommend it for families or anyone. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us. God willing, we will be back again.

Thank you to Victoria and caretakers Martha & Keld. We loved staying at this house! We had 8 stay comfortably (myself, husband, mother, 3 older kids and another couple) and didn't need to use the pull out sofa bed to fit us. The property was exactly what we expected from the description and photos (although the living room arrangement is slightly different than pictured - things change). The location was fabulous! The house had everything we possibly needed, even a cooler for taking with us on day trips. The beach was perfect for playing in the sand and snorkeling (brought our own gear), which is what we wanted. We got up each morning and watched the sunrise, ate breakfast and snorkeled all before 8am. The breakwater kept us from being pounded by the surf and made for interesting things to see. Unfortunately, we were away from the house when the turtles came into the bay and the Monk seal came onto the beach to sun itself. Being across from the PCC was very convenient, and we were only about a 30-40 min drive (depending on rush hour) from either side of the island that we wanted to visit. You couldn't pay me enough to stay in Waikiki in the crowded beaches, etc. Victoria was quick to answer any questions I had, often calling me rather than emailing me back which was a nice personal touch. Martha and Keld were great caretakers (and kept to themselves unlike other comments) and made themselves available for whatever we needed. One note regarding the property - there are two other rental units attached to the house which we didn't really realize. The neighbors we had were great, and we had no problems with them (and I think Victoria is very particular about who she rents to, so that helps!). There are also two houses that are at front of the property which look as though they are part of Victoria's place, but they aren't. They have students living in them, but we hardly noticed them there at all. We have shown our friends the pictures of the property and highly recommend staying here. We will definitely be looking to book here again next year. Mahalo!

Coming from Canada, we had quite a long flight, but it was worth it. From the minute we got our rental car and were greeted with flowers and a warm aloha, we knew we picked the right location to spend Christmas. Nine of us rented 2 cars and proceeded across the H3 through the tunnel as Victoria had recommended. We were in awe of the beauty of the mountains and tropical forests. They sure live different in Hawaii. Most houses are not fancy by any means, you don't need the kind of construction of a home - no winters here. Were we glad to be in the warm sunshine. When we arrived at the home, Martha greeted us all with a warm Hawaiian hug. She's from Canada origionally (well 26 years ago). The house was the most well maintained home we've ever seen, even down to the light switches. Spotless and so very clean. We were blown away at the views as we stepped into the home. The beach was so great and walking up and down along the beach was a real pleasure since we weren't elbow to elbow, it was all ours. What a great kept secret, bathtub beach. Hope we can return again. Thanks for the wonderful, warm memories.

We went on a family vacation, all 4 children, ranging from 22 to 12. We had a wonderful time. The beach is just like the pictures. Plenty of boogie boards for everyone. The house was so spotless and nicely furnished. It is a pristine beach front home that is very well maintained. Thanks to Martha and Keld, they were wonderful hosts. Always concerned about our comfort and vacation. Not intrusive, just right. Loved the views. The minute we walked in we fell in love. We flew all the way from Texas and it was a long flight. When we went across the H3 highway it was like magic. Lush, tropical and green. Mountains and roads that took your breath away. Driving to the home we loved Victoria's recommendation to go to Kuahuola Ranch. Fantastic hamburgers and now you can by their organic beef. We purchase for our stay at the house. The home was a little hard to find, but Martha waited by the road for us. It is so far off the highway we couldn't see it. We only had the ocean wave noise not the cars. We checked out another place RIGHT on the highway and so glad we didn't stay there with the flow of traffic on the road. What was great was being able to walk across the street to Polysenian Culture Center. Even save the 10 parking fee! After the fantastic show we returned to our home and enjoyed sitting on the porch listening to the waves. This home was perfect for us and made a memorable family vacation.

We all had a wonderful trip. The beach out front is just like the photos and the sandy area is really nice. We never really saw anyone using the beach, we had it all to ourselves, hard to believe with so many tourist at the other beaches. It is gated and private. We had our own parking location, even free wi-fi and long distance. The new side by side refrigerator was wonderful with ice cold water. The water in Hawaii is great, save your money you don't need to buy bottled water. Just to be able to walk across the street to PCC luau and show was perfect. The show is a must see. I thank Martha for being such a warm and welcoming hostess. She was the cherry on top!!! We had a wonderful time and will be back again. oh yes, you don't need air conditioning... this side is cool and we even had to have light weight jackets for the night time....

We loved staying in the Yellow House! It was perfect for our two small girls ages 4 and 2. They loved the beach and playing in the sand and water. When the tide goes out there are literally no waves on the beach because it's protected bt the "reef." It's not a coral reef,it's more rocky, but it does trap the water and a few small fish close to shore. The water is nice and shallow and my 2 yr. old could safely walk with us out to the reef. Favorite things from our visit:The sunrises were beautiful! The PCC is literally across the street which saved us the $8 parking fee (don't worry there's no noise b/c the house is set far back off the street and next to the ocean), Waimea Valley was a beautiful walk with the family, and within 20 minutes there are fresh fruit stands and shrimp farms(Yum!). This house has a great location on the beautiful side of the island. We definately recommend this home! The house was also very clean and Martha was very kind and helpful. Great family vacation spot.
Owner response:Thank you. Yes, the beach is great....and the "reef" does make it into a bathtub....hence the name of bathtub beach! It is great for kids, young and old. Thank you for the comments on Martha. She is a very kind person and most helpful. It's nice to have someone that has been a local for 26 years! Glad you had a wonderful family vacation.

We loved staying here, the property was beautiful and directly across from PCC, description and photos are correct. It was wonderful to have 'your own house' and be away from all the traffic and hussle you see elsewhere. The property was under construction at the time, which was made known to us prior to booking. Completely understandable, but what we didn't expect was the care taker to just walk in unexpectedly. A couple of times the construction crew needed ice for their coolers, and she just entered without knocking. The first time we thought it was kind of odd, the second time we were getting annoyed. The property was clean and well maintained however I don't think the car taker liked really little kids, the owner did, just not the care taker Martha. She seemed to always have 'an eye' on them, telling them what they shouldn't be doing. Not something you want on vacation where you're there to relax. We had a 5, 7 and 9 year old, all boys who love to be boys. I don't think she appreciated them very much. Had the property not been under construction I don't think she would have been around as much as she was the week we were there. My suggestion to future guests would be to take complete inventory when you arrive. Make sure all the boogie boards are there, and if any are broken when you arrive (like one was in our case). Make sure all the TV remotes work, count cups, towels and do a complete inventory otherwise you'll be charged for unnecessary charges after you leave.
Owner response:Delighted to hear you had a great time. It was a wonderful to meet you and your family. Yes, your little boys reminded me of when my son was little, not so long ago I might add. My sincere apologies for any inconvenience about the care takers. Normally we are very respectfull of your privacy. The local care taker is always concerned about your safety, accomodations, and needs. Sorry that this happened. We would like for you to return again. As you can see from other reviews, Martha is normally very helpful. We do inventory after each guest and double check items. A lot of times we have broken boogie boards that are not disclosed, ie. children are afraid to get in trouble by telling their parents. The boogie boards are one of the first items we have always checked. Photographs are taken of any broken items, such as screens or boggie boards. Luckly, we don't have this doesn't happen often. We appreciate our guests and want your stay to be as comfortable as possible. Thank you for staying during our construction phase of new kitchens and bathrooms. Thanks for being our guests. Victoria

We had a wonderful time in the Laie beach rental. Gorgeous beachfront view. We stayed in the 3 bedroom unit, due to the 2 bedroom unit being remodeled at the time. We stayed in 2 rooms with 1 bathroom. The unit is well maintained and very clean. Martha, the property manager was very nice and gave us great info. The house was very nice. We would definately recommend to friends and family. Laie is a great place to stay on the island. Thank you for a wonderful time Victoria.

We were fortunate that the owner only had this unit available. We loved it. Everything was furnished and we had all the supplies, towels, etc. We even had a small boogie board for the children. The packnplay and the highchair were great for our 2 and 4 yr old. We felt the kids were very safe at this beach. It was perfect. We tried other beaches, but this was by far the best ONE. A visit to PCC across the street is great. We could even walk to McDonalds for a stroll. What a perfect place and we plan to come back again. Martha was the nicest hostess.

This was a great place to stay! My family of 5 plus our nanny stayed here for 2 weeks. The house was great! There was plenty of room for everyone. My husband and I enjoyed the privacy and being seperated from the kids (the living room and kitchen seperate the two sides of the house where the bedrooms are located. It was great having beach access. The kids and sitter could go to the beach anytime without having to pack everything up and go anywhere. They loved snorkeling and the reef is full of life. They loved going out in the early morning and watching the crabs come back to their homes. We went to the Polynesian Culture Center and were able to walk there and back! It is a good location as the north shore activities are about all within 20 - 30 minutes and the "town" side of the island (honolulu etc) is about 1 hour (with traffic and slower speed limits) The Dole Plantation is about 30 minutes away. We loved going to see things and then coming home to our quiet little paradise! The neighborhood is quiet and we felt very safe. (We had 3 children under 8 that we left with a sitter regularly) We cannot say enough good about the property managers. They were wonderful! They were kind and had lots of great advice and suggestions. They made our stay so enjoyable and comfortable! The community is very friendly. I highly recommend this property to anyone coming with a family who wants to enjoy Hawaii but not be in the middle of the overcrowded, tourist stuff all the time. One suggestion though! Groceries are expensive! We shopped at the Costco and at Tamuras Market in Haaula. If you choose this property I hope your experience will be as wonderful as ours! ALOHA!

We had a marvelous time in this beach house. It was heavenly listening to the ocean and feeling its gentle breeze as we fell asleep each night. It was great to walk down the stairs and swim on a very private beach! We walked across the street to the Polynesian Cultural Center twice where there is so much to enjoy. The manager that lives close by was wonderfully helpful. We will definitely stay here again and can recommend this place.

The home was great for our family. It was so clean and inviting. The ocean was right out front. The managers, Martha and Keld, were always available and made our stay so easy. We had 5 children and 2 adults, there was plenty of room. Laie is such a great town. I have shared my vacation photos with family and friends. I would certainly recommend this house to anyone wishing to visit the area. We loved the seating out front to the ocean and the large grass play area for the children. Thanks for a great stay. We will return. Paige and family, Utah

We stayed at this property in October 2009, and while the view is exquisite and the little beach charming, the house itself is not quite as shown in the listing. It is clean, however the furnishings and fixtures need upgrading. Many facuets, window/sliding door frames, and hinges are rusted out and the furniture is very well used. It is also not as spacious as it seems, so our family of five was about as many people as you would want in the house. Also, there are other houses attached to this one, which we were not made aware of, and are not mentioned in the listing. If you can get past that, it's right near the fabulous beach at Waimea, where we spent most of our days. It's also right across the street from the Polynesian Culture Centre (which can get a little noisy in the evenings when cars are coming and going). You would need to rent a car (which we did) to get around, or else take public transit in order to get around as it is a very quiet part of the island.
Owner response:Sorry you felt this was. The furniture was all new in 2005 as I purchased it. I will begin replacing the items. I had no idea as there haven't been any former complaints. The house has 3 separate bedrooms so I don't understand your reference to the number of people. In fact the master bedroom has a separate sitting room and I have upgraded the bath room to include a full bath in the master. Thanks for your comments and we will be upgrading the furniture. We are one of the lowest priced 3 bedroom beach front properties and do hope to have you return. We pride ourselves on how clean the property is!! With the upgrades, we will be posting new photos.
