A breathtaking retreat of meadows and redwoods six miles from the town of Mendocino. The main house, guest cabin and studio are situated on 12 park-like acres. This family-friendly vacation spot is perfect for church retreats or reunions, yet also very romantic for 2 on a honeymoon or anniversary. We have a seasonal garden and orchard for your enjoyment, swings, treehouses and lots of room to play.
The main house sleeps eight: one master bedroom with private bath upstairs and three bedrooms downstairs with 4 twin beds and one double bed with a shared bathroom. The downstairs bathroom has a beautiful antique bath and an enchanting stone shower. You'll feel like you're showering in a warm waterfall. The main house has a country kitchen with a beautiful woodstove (and a regular gas stove). If you like cooking and eating as much as our family does, you'll love our kitchen. The main house also has a dining room, a comfortable living room and a vine-covered deck. We have just added central heating to the house in 2007 and enlarged the living room for more family space!
The charming guest cabin is near the main house and has a double bed, a private bathroom with a shower and its own hot water heater.
A short walk up the hill from the main house is the studio with its gallery room. The large gallery has a queen size bed and a private bath with an antique, claw-foot tub with overhead shower. Adjacent to the gallery is the studio with its own kitchen and plenty of space for two younger bodies to sleep with our futon mattresses, linens provided. There is also an outdoor shower, a true Mendocino experience: shower in the redwoods. With available beds and the two futons, your retreat can possibly sleep up to 14 people.
We have a built-in outdoor barbecue as well as a gas bar-b-que with lots of room for eating al fresco. If you're looking for a peaceful escape for your family or church group, this house is ideal.
We have weekly maid service. Please note that we have no television reception (though there is a VCR and DVD available, and a video rental store in Mendocino). This is a true retreat. You won't believe the peace and quiet!
