Ideal central location - Our Park Mansions apartment is in a landmark building at the hub of one of the best shopping and residential areas of London. Hyde Park is across the street to the north; the Knightsbridge Underground station is across the street to the south; and Harrods is just 1 block away. The Burberry and Jaeger flagship stores, as well as 6 restaurants, are on the lower floors of the building. The building is handicapped accessible, with a doorman and elevators, and there are no steps from the street.
The building is in the shape of an open Vee. Our 3rd-floor apartment faces south on the inside of the Vee, away from street noise. All rooms are charmingly furnished to the high standards of one's own home rather than those of a rental unit, since #30 is our own home when we are in London. The bedrooms and living room are air-conditioned.
The living room has TV/VCR/DVD player, and radio/CD player. A PC with wired and wirelss broadband access is installed, with Skype telephone, voice mail, and fax. The dining table will seat 8 guests. The kitchen has all appliances, including cookstove, oven, microwave, and washer and dryer, as well as silverware, china, and utensils for up to 8 people.
The Master bedroom has side-by-side twin beds, and an ensuite tiled bathroom with tub and power shower. The 2nd bedroom has an extra-large double bed and shower room. There is a 1/2-bathroom off the hall.
Cleaning service is provided twice a week. There is a porter on the main entrance 24 hours a day. There are no steps from the street. There are 3 elevators, and both the building and the apartment are handicapped-accessible.
The flagship Burberry and Jaeger stores are in the Park Mansions building. The inimitable Harrods, with its acres of Food Halls and other delights, is across the street to the southwest. Sloane Street, also adjacent, hosts the Harvey Nichols department store (even more upscale than Harrods), as well as "ultimate" stores like Cartier, Tiffany, Louis Vuitton, Armani, Dior, Coach, Hermes, and many others. Banks and American Express are down the street, together with drug stores, groceries, and news agents.
Many museums, including the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum are a few minutes walk away, down Brompton Road past Harrods. At the Albert Hall, about the same distance west along Knightsbridge, there concerts and events several nights a week. Buckingham Palace is about a 10-minute walk in the other direction. And theater (or theatre, depending on your preference) is a quick trip by Underground.
Across the street to the north, Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens offers a place to walk, run, ride, or row. There is a popular children's playground as you enter the park, next to the riding ring where members of the Household Cavalry from Knightsbridge Barracks do their training.
We have owned this apartment for 25 years and have had many happy visitors. Please call us for further details, or see web and e-mail information. We hope you will stay with us.
