Very short distance to main lake (100 yards). Newly painted, custom-built home/cottage has huge decks and waterfront docks with additional lake views from den, kitchen, and master bedroom. Easy walk from house to dock. Huge dock is perfect for fishing, swimming, or tying up your own boat with a water depth of eight feet off dock.
Bring your boat, jet ski, water toys, sunscreen, and fishing poles for a fun, relaxing time with your family and friends. Property has double boat house and wide dock. Renters can arrange to use one of the two boat lifts. Ideal property for swimming, fishing, and other water activities. Owner to provide use of paddle boat for renter's use. Boat rentals and boat ramps are available at local marinas. Arrangements can possibly be made for near-by private boat ramp.
Cottage is very clean and nicely decorated with open living room and full wall of glass windows/doors for awesome views of the lake from inside. Home is located in a quiet neighborhood with paved flat street. No highway traffic heard from property - extremely quiet area. Convenient to I-85.
Lake Gaston is one of the truly superior lakes in the country, located in the piedmont area of northern North Carolina and southern Virginia. It covers 20,300 acres, 34 miles long, and has over 350 miles of shoreline. The lake has very little water level fluctuation year round and has the highest water-quality rating in eastern USA (North Carolina Stream Sanitation Commission, A2 rating). Lake Gaston is well stocked with game fish including striped and large-mouth bass, bream, crappie, sunfish, and several varieties of catfish. Lake Gaston has an average depth of 40-plus feet (80-plus feet deep near dam).

Why the Owner Chose Macon
We own a beach house and a lake house. We (and the kids) have more fun in the water at our lake house. My original intention in buying at Lake Gaston was to flip the house, however, while we were working on the house (even when the market was great) we discovered that we were not going to ever sell it. The kids enjoy swimming at the lake more than the waves and sand at the ocean. My wife would not let me borrow any more $ so I had to sell a mint condition classic corvette to build the boathouse you see in the photos.
The Unique Benefits of this cottage
Deep Water. Jumping off the top of the boathouse. Skiing early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Wake Boarding and tubing mid-day. We enjoy swimming right off the dock on our deep but protected cove (no worry of main lake boat traffic). We also enjoy walking and jogging in the neighborhood (paved streets, but in a wooded environment). It just feels comfortable there. I'm not a big fisherman, however, the folks who love fishing also keep comming back.

I just wanted to let you know we had an amazing time at your lakehouse, it actually exceeded our expectations and was just as beautiful or even more so than the pictures. We would definetly come visit again, and recommend it to any friends.

We stayed at this cottage with our 3 kids, ages 9, 11, & 13. We kept our boat at the dock. This has everything you need and more: dock, pier, deep water, jumping platform, plenty of fishing, swimming, and boating! The Obrien SuperBouncer and the Paddle Boat were a big hit with the kids. A nice, shady dock in the afternoon was a big hit with Mom. A very easy walk to the water from an attractive, comfortable house with great water views. We brought in our groceries the first evening and just played the rest of the week. Very highly recommended.
