First, the SAND. It is like powder-not coarse ground up shells like some. Great for drip castles!
Second, THE OCEAN IS AT YOUR DOOR STEP. There is no long raised boardwalk with a 5 minute walk across the dunes to navigate with cooler & chairs before you ever get to the water.
Third, there are NO CARS. This is a major distinction. Imagine trying to play paddle ball with cars continually passing by & having to be on constant baby alert. Not while you are on vacation!
Fourth, the beach is PRIVATE & WIDE - No HIGHRISE condos – just the locals – And so deep. Lots of room to play in the sloughs and catch the waves.
Last but not least, the WAVES ARE THE BEST IN TOWN! Some beaches are very narrow & steep making the waves too short to ride. The locals consider The Chautauqua the BEST SURFING BEACH around…whether you or two or twenty. You can rent surf boars and lake lessons at the end of the street.
