Enjoy harbor parties, decoy carving events, craft fairs, pony penning (at Chincoteaque).Explore Tangier Island where Elizabethan dialects can still be heard.Drive Route 13 (an area Off 13 guide book is available)and discover local antique shops, historic homes and plantations. NASA's visitors' center on Wallops Island depicts the birth of man's space explorations. Visit the National Wildlife Refuge in Chincoteaque. Eastern Shore has sightings of over 200 bird species and is home to migratory birds. Fisherman's Island is a breeding ground for pelicans. Virginia Beach's oceanfront is a 30 min. drive over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel. Here you will find maritime museums, Harbor Park, the MacArthur Shopping Mall and an aquarium at the Naticus Maritime Center. Day trips to Williamsburg, VA (great outlets!)and Ocean City, MD (more outlets!!) are great family fun.
Come back at the end of your day to "Aloha Hide-A-Way" and enjoy the brilliant sunsets and star constellations that can easily be seen because of the dark sky technology throughout the resort where all lights are dimmed and focused downward to ensure great star viewing. |
