We started with an historic Crested Butte home that had great character but needed a first class updating. We have just finished a complete remodel and think local photographer Chris Ladoulis' photos speak for themselves.
Trilby and Z. welcome you to our home at 207 Sopris Avenue in the heart of the historic district of Crested Butte. Drop me an e-mail, and I'll send you a complete portfolio of images of the house, our wildflower gardens, and fenced, irrigated yard.
New for the winter of 2009-2010: "Stay Here and Ski Free"-- From November 25 until December 16, stay at our house and we will provide free lift tickets for each person in the family that rents our house. Also, beginning December 17 until the end of the ski season, we can purchase discounted lift tickets for you. Ask us about the details.
Note: Please check the online calendar for open dates.
Description of Our House
Our newly remodeled house, built in the early 1900's, embodies the Crested Butte experience. Perfectly located in the heart of the historic district, this three bedroom, three bath home is a half block from the shuttle bus stop to the ski area. No need for a car.
With its prime location, this stucco home with its recently refinished hardwood floors is the ideal vacation home. Its open floor plan and warm lively feel make for good times with family and friends. The large dining room flows into the sunlit living area, which has a new sofa sleeper and new leather chairs. The three bedrooms have brand new, firm Simmon's mattresses with new linens. All three tiled bathrooms are new and come with thick, lush towels.
We have a master bedroom suite upstairs with a new king-size bed, reclaimed oak hardwood floors, and a Santa Fe style gas fireplace. To stay in touch with work, we have an office area with a Henry Miller desk chair, a hand-crafted, built-in desk with curved countertop, wireless high-speed internet access, and a printer for your laptop. Add a breathtaking view of Gothic Mountain from the desk, and a little work is not so bad. The spacious tile bathroom features a two person Kohler jetted tub and a large steam shower big enough for two. The heated travertine tile floor warms your feet on a cold morning.
The newly remodeled kitchen includes a new Bosch stainless dishwasher, a GE Monogram refrigerator, a curved, concrete countertop, an Italian gas cooktop, and new Tech lighting. We have Cuisinart appliances to include a coffee maker and an ice cream maker. The kitchen is fully equipped for gourmet cooking.
The large, separate laundry room has a heavy-duty washer, a large capacity dryer, and a rack for air-drying fine clothes.
Our large entry room has a ski rack, plenty of hooks for jackets, and a ski boot warmer.
In the summer, enjoy the large, fenced backyard featuring two wildflower beds, aspen trees, and an irrigated lawn. Relax in a large hammock, a teak chaise lounge, or lawn chairs with ottomans.
For entertainment, we have two, top-of-the-line Sony High Defintion televisions with surround sound and DVD players, one in the master suite.
Interior designer Carolina Alling and her husband Mark have created the perfect balance in our house. They kept the old, warm feel and added high quality design and furnishings. Send me an e-mail, and I'll send you more photos of what we created at 207 Sopris in Crested Butte.
Here are some comments from our guest book:
--"I was in heaven with the new addition upstairs. We 'spa-ed'and loved the steam bath. Wow! You did a great job with the remodel. This house is a pleasure retreat and adds to the comfort we feel when we visit Crested Butte."
--"We will be back. We were truly impressed with the Sopris House."
--"This has been a vacation to repeat. We have had a terrific time, made even better by such a beautiful, well-equipped place to stay. You have a wonderful home."
--"You have put so much thought into your charming home. Things we love: big dining table, shelf in front room--so handy, big shower, heavy duty margarita blender, and so much more."
--"We've stayed in Crested Butte many times before but never in a house this nice."
--"Your home was all you promised and more. We hated to leave. When my two year old asked what I was doing as I packed, I said, "We are getting ready to go home," and she said, "But Mommy, we are home."

Why the Owner Chose Crested Butte
We fell in love with Crested Butte in 2002 and bought in 2003. We love the Rockies and have skied all over the west. We didn't think about buying a house in the west until Crested Butte swept us off our feet. We have not regretted it for a second. Best thing we ever did.
The Unique Benefits at this House
For winter, the shuttle bus stop to the ski mountain is 200 feet from our front door, and it runs every 15 minutes. The nordic center for cross country skiing is two blocks away. All the great restaurants in town are less than a five minute walk. What can I can about the summer except that Crested Butte is heaven on earth.
