Perfect setting, perfect cozy home

I recently rented this cabin for two nights, around the time of the Banner Elk Christmas tree lighting event. I couldn't have been happier with the cabin. It was perfectly located, easy to find, private and just what we were looking for for an escape. And the owner was wonderfully nice and was attentive even during my stay. She was more than willing to help me make my accomodations. I can't wait to rent this place again.

My husband and I stayed (with our fur-baby) here for our 6th anniversary. We couldn't have been happier! We got to the cabin on a cold and wet day, but the place was nice and toasty for our arrival. Everything was very fresh and clean! The bed was very comfy - nothing worse then trying to sleep on a lumpy bed! - and everything in the cabin was in great working order. We couldn't have asked for anything more. The location of the cabin is wonderful, far enough away from the "city life" to be quiet and peaceful, but just a few short miles away from all the conveniences you will need. Audrey was so friendly during all of our email correspondence and very prompt in answering any questions or concerns that I had. Regarding the negative review below, I have to say that I am a super clean freak and there was NOTHING dirty about this cabin. No nasty musty smell, no dirty linens or anything like that. We would not hesitate to stay here again and have already recommended the cabin to friends!
Owner response:We are so glad to hear that you had such a wonderful time at our place and that you enjoyed the accommodations. I am glad that we were able to make such an important event for you a memorable one! Thank you for the referral as well. We do offer our return guests a 10% discount. So please do keep us in mind the next time you visit the area. Audrey

My husband and I spent a weekend in Skyview for our 10 year anniversary and it was perfect for us and completely suited our needs. The size was just right for a weekend stay and was nice and clean. We look forward to another visit and hopefully bringing our children along.

Musty & not clean

Cabin looked "okay"-when we arrived (10-11-11). As we looked more closely the cabin was dirty. Sheets on the bed were not clean, dust abounded on furniture, floors were not clean. Musty smell was everywhere. We spent hours cleaning, washing sheets & bed linens before occupying. When cleaning crew came @ end of stay--we mentioned the lack of cleanliness and were told that "sometimes it's rented to folks who have dogs and they don't tell us." Duh? Will not stay here ever again-would suggest you don't either.
Owner response:In response to this review, we are completely in shock by this guest’s comments regarding the uncleanliness of our cabin. In the 5 years that we have owned and managed Skyview we have never received this type of negative feedback. As a matter of fact the guest that checked out prior to this guest emailed us on how cute, cozy, and clean the cabin was and how great of an experience they had. As I had explained to the guest that posted this review, I wish they had contacted us upon arrival at the cabin so that we would have had an opportunity to rectify any issues that they may have found. It could have been as simple as sending our cleaning crew to the cabin to meet the renter and either re-clean the unit or exchange any linens that the guest felt were unsatisfactory. Instead they did not notify us of being unhappy until the day after they checked-out of the cabin and posted this negative review. As an owner and property manager I do not feel that we were even given an opportunity to rectify this customer’s unhappiness. We always welcome suggestions on where we can improve as we are not perfect. We have always been proactive on maintaining or replacing items in the cabin albeit tupperware or pillows. My husband and I pride ourselves with our cute vacation home that we chose to share with others as their vacation spot. Our ultimate goal is to provide a positive vacation experience for our guests and we truly regret that we have an unsatisfied customer.

"The place was perfect--very homey and comfortable. The alcove area worked well for our little one's pack-n-play, so he could have his "own room". We really enjoyed our stay and we were able to ski 2 times and bring the little guy to the tubing slopes as well. The location was nice a close to everything and easy to get to. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy the place...we hope to return again!"
