This cabin is a two-story, authentic red cedar log cabin nestled in a cozy cove in a private community in the Smoky Mountains. It is located on one and one-half acres five miles from downtown Murphy. Easy access year round. It features hardwood floors, two bedrooms (one loft), and a spacious great room with high-vaulted ceiling, kitchen, dining, and bath.
Relax to the sounds of the running spring-fed stream and waterfall. The split-level redwood deck overlooks the trout pond. Also within a very short walking distance to the Nottely River and another community lake for picnicing, swimming, and fishing. There is also a large lot across the street from the cabin that has direct, personal access to the Nottley River with a private deck, and stairs down to the Nottley River.

The cabin was better than we anticipated! So clean and cozy! Our 7 year old son was thrilled to have the loft to himself and we got 3 days of snow as an unexpected bonus. We live in Florida so it was a nice change. The heater in the cabin worked great and the shower's water pressure was a welcome treat. The area was quiet and peaceful. We had great food and service @ Rib Country. Decker's flea market was really good. We went to Sweetwater Valley Farms (in Tennessee) & Lost Sea Caverns for a day trip (great time and cheeeeeeese!) Chunky Gal Stables in Hayesville was awesome, great ride and the guide was excellent. Sue's Burgers in Blue Ridge, Ga was best burger ever! We can't wait to come back !! We highly recommend this location for a getaway!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We enjoyed our stay at Bear Necessities, it is very quiet and peaceful there. The only thing lacking for those of us addicted to our internet was internet hook up.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

My husband and son spent the week-end on the Appalachian Trail while I stayed at Bear Necessity. The cabin was very comfortable and relaxing-I even enjoyed spending time baking cookies. It was nicely decorated with the bear theme. I appreciated the good water pressure in the shower and the good tasting tap water. The neighborhood was quiet but close to Murphy for exploring and shopping. I would recommend this cabin to others.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We just returned from a weekend stay at this awesome cabin. Everything was clean and convenient. Just stop to get groceries on the way in and you have it made. We hiked, fished, grilled out, relaxed and fished somemore. Great place to enjoy nature and quality family time . Neighbors are great. Made lots of fun memories. We will be back as soon as we can squeeze it into our schedule. The Eubanks FamilyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The first two days we never left it was so peaceful and relaxing. Our dogs enjoyed taking walks with us through the neighborhood. We ate all of our meals on the deck while listening to the waterfall and the frogs. The cabin was clean and had plenty of nice bath towels, the kitchen was well stocked with everything that we needed for cooking. Later in the week we went to Fields of the Wood, Hiwassee Dam, and Deep Creek Tubing.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This was our first experience with Homeaway & we had such a good experience. We've already made plans for our next vacation, with Homeaway! We always have a feeling of anticipation, when we are driving towards our rental cabins. The first impression was perfect! The pictures don't show you how beautiful this place is...inside & out. The neighborhood was very nice & the people(nearby)were very helpful, as well. The location of this cabin was perfect! Only 15 minutes, in any direction, to reach nearby towns. Many interesting things to do. We'll have to come again, just to see everything! We went whitewater rafting, antiquing, scenic drives, flea mkts., hiking....you name it! We even went to The Lost Sea Caverns. Very relaxing & we would love to come again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The Bear Necessity log cabin was a wonderful experience. The owners of the cabin are very warm and welcoming. We caught fish off of the deck under the big patio umbrella-it was raining. We enjoyed the open layout of the inside of the cabin. All of the furniture was beauitfuily made out of wood. The gas fireplace set for a warm cozy enviroment. The window in the loft had a beauitful view of the sunrise and sunset. The deck is the perfect place for am cofffee. This was an unforgetable experience that we will treasure forever and will return again to the Bear Necessity Cabin soon!!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
