Hull Bay Cottages are located off the beaten track on a road called Suicide Hill ~ a little daunting, however, definitely worth every moment we were fortunate to find this place and stay here for a week. George (our Host) greeted us at the airport and took us to an off property car rental business. We followed him back to our cottage, and he provided us with a print out of places and directions for restaurants he recommended, and also instructions on how to get around the Island. Having this was priceless.. Driving on the left side of the road was easy ~ finding road signs was a crap shoot. We managed to not get lost! We also submitted to him a grocery list before arriving of some basic provisions that were waiting for us in the fridge ~ nice touch George. Before arriving my partner and I have been through a lot of stress recently in our lives. We were in dire need of some major R&R. We spent our week checking out different beaches, day trip to St.John and time spent at the magnificent Trunk Bay, and also took a sailing/snorkeling trip to the BVI's ~ visiting Virgin Gorda, a couple of great snorkeling spots, and ending at my favorite place, the Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke. Ate out every night for dinner ~ North Side Bistro & Brewery has stunning Atlantic views, tasty food and great service. On Saturday night a Jazz trio performed and blew us away. The vocalist, Gerry Harris, sang my favorite song, Caramel, which I heard the songwriter, Chiara Civello, at a jazz club in Rome several years ago perform this song. I almost fell off my chair. We would have never found this place if not for George's recommendation. We also ate a few times down the road at Hull Bay Hideaway ~ fish tacos (grouper caught that day) that were phenomenal. Our cottage gave us total privacy ~ which we were able to nude sun bathe every day and be one with nature.. We had WiFi so we could check our emails daily, but it was so fabulous to disconnect from the world for a week. On Tuesday nights Amalia hosts a girls night where a group of women gather to watch American Idol and eat pizza. That was the only time I had the opportunity to talk to Amalia, who was very gracious and is an avid snorkeler. Her Mango bread is sublime. I want that recipe! George is a trip ~ he has a very dry and irreverent sense of humor. By far he is the funniest person we had ever met. He has had a very interesting life ~ we enjoyed discussing politics and current events with him. What a lovely time we had.

My husband and I took our 5 month old son on our first family vacation to St. Thomas. It was tricky trying to decide where to stay but we found the best place for this memorable trip! Not only did we have an amazing view to enjoy our breakfast and our evening drinks but the private feel of being "home" was especially nice. The cottage has all the amenities that you could think of from an excess of fresh towels to bug spray. Our hosts, George and Amalie, could not be nicer. It really helped getting to our cottage and not having to run out to the grocery store straight away. George was able to get the few items we needed to welcome us to our vacation. They also provided the perfect playpen for the baby to sleep in. This helped lessen the packing load. We were able to use their grill which made for a perfect dinner in. On the nights we opted to go out George recommended some great places! Thirteen was a really amazing dinner. They also directed us to the best beaches... where to not go and what was best for us such as good shade for the baby. They convinced us that a day trip to St. John's would be worth it and they were so right, it was amazing and we are so glad we did not miss out. If you are looking for a private feel to your vacation this is the place! Even though there were a few other renters while we were there we seemed to always feel like the only ones at the pool or even enjoying the view on our deck while playing some music. The cottage was clean and there was nothing we did not have. The beaches were close and easy to get to especially Magen's Bay! If you go to Magen's Bay and park as far down away from the crowds you feel like you are on your own beach :) Thank you for an amazing vacation.
Owner response:Thanks so much for the great review Christina, we love to be remembered for the right reasons. It was a pleasure to share our good fortune with you, Larry, Desmond and your sister. We wish you all the very best in good health, happiness, prosperity and look forward to seeing you again. Warm tropical regards, George

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Hull Bay Cottages in early December 2011 before we started a one week sailing trip. We thought it offered everything we were looking for, the views from the deck were beautiful. George met us at the airport so we could follow him up to the property and he made a grocery run for us so we had a few items when we arrived. George and Amalia are very gracious hosts. I have recomended it to serveral people looking for the perfect vacation. I hope to book again in the near future.
Owner response:It was great having you and Denis stay with us. We're so happy we had the opportunity to share our good fortune with you and look forward to seeing you again next year. Thank you for the kind words about your experience with us. Warm tropical regards, George.

My husband and I renewed our wedding vows on the cottage deck...the view is more than spectacular!! The pictures do not do the place justice. The cottage was the perfect size with a constant cool breeze...no air conditioning needed. The hospitality above all was worth our trip. George met us at the airport, helped us with our car rental, and had our groceries waiting for us upon our arrival. We will be back!! I highly recommend the cottage rental as oppossed to the resort experience. You get a true feel of the local living and get to make some great friends. I can't thank George enough for the memories, the location, and the great experience! This trip will never be forgotten!
Owner response:Thanks so much for the great review Kathy. It was wonderful to be able to share our good fortune with you and Tom. thank you for beng such great guests, for taking such good care of the cottage and, most importanly, for the great memories you left with us. Our stay was wonderful. It all started by being picked up from the airport by George, just like old friends. He even made the first Grocery shopping for us, so we could start our vacation the minute we arrived. The View from the Cottage is breathtaking. The Cottage itself is decorated in a carribean style, that makes you feel comfortable right away. We just loved the blue bedroom. With everything you could wish for available from a fully equiped kitchen to the snorkling equipment and Beachchairs. George and Amalia even organised Beachtoys and a Babybed for our little son. We are glad we picked the place up on the hill and altough you need a car the location is a perfect starting point to get to every Point on the Island easily. It's 10 Minutes to wonderful Megans Bay and about 15-20 Min to Town. And you come back and have your peacfull quiet Blacony with the most Amazing view. (The pictures can't quite show how beautiful and colorfull it really is). We also got insider information about great Restaurants which were outside the Touristspots. We higly recommend Hull Bay Cottages and are more then willing to come back soon.

Our trip to St. Thomas was the most amazing and relaxing vacation we've ever had and George and Amalia helped make that happen! George was prompt in all of his responses, we received superior assistance and information prior to and after our arrival, George met us at the airport and guided us up the narrow and winding road to his hilltop retreat and we snacked on the most amazing Mango bread, compliments of Amalia. They were the perfect hosts - there when you need them and not there when you don't! :) Our cottage view was heavenly and we found it difficult to leave the deck. We rented a car and enjoyed driving around the island - we also took the ferry (and the jeep) over to St. John and enjoyed a day there. We relaxed, we went to Magen's Bay, we cooked a little and ate out a little, and we have gained new friends in George and Amalia. Enjoy Hull Bay beach - it's close and convenient. Magen's Bay has a $10 charge to enter (during certain times) but it is well worth it - easy to see why it is one of the world's top beaches! The island is hilly but we drove downtown every morning and went for a run along the water. Caution - keep left. We will return and we will stay at Hull Bay - we recommend you do the same. Thanks for such a wonderful trip, George and Amalia!!
Owner response:Thanks for choosing to stay with us Heather, it was wonderful being ableto share our good fortune with you and Scott. What a wonderful experience! I absolutely cannot say enough about this place. George and Amalia (and Precious) are amazing hosts, the views from the property are spectacular (even the parking spot was amazing!) and the apartment had everything needed for a perfect getaway. I traveled solo and was completely comfortable and relaxed at all times. George and Amalia picked me up at the airport and provided excellent directions for anyplace I needed to go. Additionally, as St. Thomas is their home, they had the inside story on all locations and doings. Their kindness, grace, and knowledge made my trip better than anything I could have hoped for. This place is absolutely beautiful - and true story, as I arrived a rainbow was in the sky over the property...can't say it any better than that! Thank you for a wonderful week! Truly look forward to coming back as soon as possible

"Wonderful Winter Respite" We enjoyed a wonderful week at Hull Bay Cottages. As a respite from the cold and snow of winter we planned a quiet relaxing and warm stay. Our apartment at Hull Bay gave us exactly what we needed. It was very clean, nicely decorated, and cozy with a view of Hull Bay that was fantastic. (We personally preferred the coziness of the apartment over the cottages on the property.) Our hosts were very accomodating, always there to help. (Even with jumper cables when I left our rental car lights on over night) One note of caution, though, prepare to travel on steep narrow roads and adjust your thinking--they drive on the left!

We stayed very recently in one of the apartments overlooking the great ocean and the surrounding islands, and leaving this place was the most painful thing we have ever done. Yet the soul of this magnificent place is embodied by Amalia and George with their genuine hospitality and gracious service. We can never stay anywhere else again when we go back to St. Thomas which is what we hope to do as soon as we possibly can. In deep gratitude and appreciation.

The cottage was perfect! The views really are breathtaking. Better than many spots we drive to on the island. It was clean, just enough room, and a nice breeze with no mosquitos. Made meals in the well eqipped kitchen to save money. Ate dinners on the deck watching the sunset. Relaxed and watched all the movie channels free. Great WIFI connection to get online. Very centrally located to beaches, yet plenty of privacy. Snorkle gear provided worked perfect. Owners were kind, hospitable and respectful. Thanks George and Amalia for making this trip to St. Thomas the best!

Stayed at cottage #1 July 1 to July 10, 2010 (one building w/ 2 apartments & 2 cottages on property). The 5 star rating is based on what the cottage is - not ultra-luxe accomodations, but more than acceptable (needs a little sprucing up, but generally well maintained). Quiet location, spectacular views and surprisingly private (buildings are very well situated). Stay here if you like doing for yourself and exploring. We didn't want daily maid service and ordering drinks from the pool attendant. The property/cottage is accurately described on the HullBayCottages.com web-site and was huge for the 2 of us. Had a loft with a full size bed (air mattress) that could accomodate 2 more, but would probably be a little hot at night. The property has a pool. Snorkel equipment and beach chairs are provided for exploring the multiple beach options. You have to have a car as nothing is within walking distance, however, nothing on the island is more than a 25 min drive. Charlotte Amalie is 12 to 15 min. The owner (George Morrissey) was very easy to deal with in making the reservations and when we arrived. He lives on the property but never intrudes. Plenty of suggestions if you ask. From watching the sun come up over the ocean to sitting on the deck at night with a glass of wine watching the water as the stars come out - the view never disappointed. We would go back tomorrow if the budged allowed.
Owner response:Thanks Tom, we hope to see you again. Coll, breezy tropical regards to both of you. George

George and Amalia made what could have been a disaster an enjoyable vacation. We were booked with someone else and when we got here there were problems and so George agreed to take us in and worked with our person to coordiante everything. They made us feel at home and gave us lots of good suggestions. We loved Precious and Irene who came to visit as well as the occasional goat. The view was awesome and the house comfortable for 2 couples. The middle of the day could get warm without ac but we were usually gone then so it was fine. We loved our time there and would return.

We were looking for a quiet, out-of-the-way place to rest and recuperate after my husband's radiation treatments. The cottage overlooking Hull Bay was perfect. The owners are available but not in the way. They met us at the airport, had food waiting, and provided for every comfort. The weather was spectacular. We could definitely recommend this property to anyone seeking peace and solitude.

We loved our stay at Hull Bay Cottages. The place was clean, had the most perfect view and our hosts, were fantastic. George and Amalia (owners/hosts) were accessible if you wanted/needed them, but weren't at all invasive. The location was ideal and we couldn't have been happier. Pros: Incredible view; great, off-the-beaten path location; kind and knowledgeable hosts; clean; George does a pre-arrival grocery shop for you; they greet you and escort you to the property from the airport; peaceful and quiet...we could go on. Cons (and they are very small and incidental): the water pressure is not great in the shower...but this is to conserve water, which we understand. The pool was not usable while we were there (it was empty). This was a great spot and if we return to St. Thomas, we'll surely be back!
Owner response:Regretfully the pool needed work and we chose this time to get it done.

George, Amalia & Precious - Your cottage apartment we stayed in is beautiful, clean and quaintly decorated. The views from the screened breakfast porch and the deck are truly the most beautiful sights we’ve seen on the island or any place we’ve ever been before (We loved the privacy and serenity so much that one day all we did was just sit out on the deck and soak up the almost unreal experience). That aside, we would return solely for the hospitality and kindness you have shown us. We greatly appreciated you assisting us at our arrival and helping us quickly feel comfortable and familiar with the island. Thank you, thank you and thank you again. George and Kristin Sigalas

Hull Bay Cottages was one of the most relaxing and comfortable trips we've had! We originally rented the apartment to celebrate our anniversary, but once we arrived George announced that they were putting us into the beautiful yellow number one cottage. We were greeted with fresh flowers in every room, a loaf of homemade mango bread and the view "just like in the pictures!" All the provisions we had asked for were there and all we needed to do was unpack and start relaxing! We loved the peace and quiet of the location - just the sounds of nature and the breezes. Everything was very comfortable, especially the bed, and clean. Even coming up the driveway became fun. I loved the location on the north side of St. Thomas. The views were splendid and we enjoyed parts of both sunrise and sunset. George and his entire family were very helpful during our stay. We loved the extra levels of customer care that they provide. You can't go wrong at Hull Bay Cottages!
Owner response:They were celebrating their anniversary and we wanted to make it special. Being remembered for the right reasons is our goal.

Having been to St. Thomas a number of times for work, I usually stayed in various hotels. Staying in this cottage was a smart and wonderful breath of fresh air. Everything listed in the description is true, and I really appreciated and took advantage of the wireless Internet. Driving on the island is an adventure in itself, but if you go the easy-but-longer way it's pretty easy to get around, and it's still less than minutes from downtown. I'm sure I'll be back!
