This was our elderly mothers' first visit to the Islands and they throughly enjoyed their stay. The house looks just like the pictures and is clean, comfortable and airy. Karen is a wonderful hostess that went out of her way to accommodate us. It was very convenient with the house being on one level, which makes it great for our elderly moms. Having the beach right in the front yard makes it great for playing on the beach, especially if you have kids. It was nice being in a family neighborhood and not in the middle of tourist-ville, but still close to all the attractions. We love it here and will be back in the future. Thanks for making our stay so much fun...rain not withstanding!

We were in this island paradise in December for Christmas and for our wedding. We enjoyed every minute. Thank you Karen so much for sharing your lovely home with us. Everything you could possible need was included in this rental. My grandchildren had a place to play and they so enjoyed seeing the rabbits and the dogs and birds. We will be back for sure! Wouldn't stay anywhere else. Mahalo!

August 2011. We had the most wonderful stay, the accommodation is delightful and well appointed. Beds are comfortable, each room had a ceiling fan which was easily enough and the sound of the waves lapping the shore just helped ease you in to that holiday feeling. We could not have asked for a better location the beach being at the end of the garden and virtually private. (we only had 3 passers by in the 2 weeks we were there). We had hours of fun with our 2 year old Grandson who stayed with us for a couple of days. Karen, the owner, could not have been more welcoming and helpful, we even had a full family get together barbecue prior to the wedding we were attending in the back garden. Would we come back and stay again? Without a shadow of doupt. Hope to be back soon

Family of 4 ( 2 Boys, 11,13) My wife and I broke the family away from work, school, sports and chaos for a little vacation in late May. It was just what we needed and we couldn't have picked a better location or hostess to get that relaxed Hawaiian feeling with. Mornings waking up to the sound of the crashing waves, sips of coffee sitting over the beach on the neatly manicured lawn, our days filled with fishing, digging up sand crabs and walking the tide pools. We'd done the whole tourist thing in downtown Honolulu in the past but this time we just wanted to find a place where we didn't have to be on the go. We found that in this secluded area west of Pearl City, probably 35-40 minutes from Honolulu. This house if much bigger and has more of a wideopen feel than it appears in the pictures. They had lot's of extra Beach/water gear and toys for the boys and our host was very laid back and always around to ask questions to or help out with directions when we need it. She rescues birds and brings them back to health so that added another layer of interest on our part. P.S. there's a little neighborhood market walking distance from the property for when you don't feel like getting in the car. Couldn't have asked for a better vacation and the only disapointment we had was when we had to leave.

A Perfect Beach House Rental! The 20 foot beach right out the front door is priceless! Rental is in an well established neighboorhood and is the perfect house for keeping young children busy playing in the yard, on the beach and in the shallows. Relaxing. Karen was an generious host, going out of her way to make sure my family and extended family had all they needed to enjoy our vacation from an extra wheel chair, boogie boards, beach towels, coolers to the bathrooms stocked with shampoo and conditioner. The rental is extremely clean and has everything a family could need. It's location made any actitivites and attractions (that my family wanted to enjoy like Sharks Cove & Pearl Harbor) about a 30-45 minute drive, but well worth it, as on your return to the rental you have a nice private yard and neighboorhood beach to relax on. Would do it all over again. Felt like home, but 70 degrees warmer!

It was one of our best holiday ever! We spent 3 weeks in this beautiful and charming beach house. We enjoyed every single day by laying in the sun, swimming in the ocean and loved the amazing ocean view. The house was just perfect. It has everything you need for a perfect holiday. We were cooking and had barbecue almost every day. Actually no need going out for dinner. The location is great, just minutes from the big supermarket Foodland, shops and restaurants. Thank you Darla for arrange this booking and mahalo to Karen and Garry! Their hospitality were great. When ever we had any questions, Karen and Garry were always helpful and took care. We hope to come back again! Thank you, Mahalo, Vielen Dank Annett, Rainer and Isabell

The vacation was "PERFECT" and we thank you Darla for the help setting this up, and Karen as the wonderful host. The weather in your location is great, always a breeze and a great view of the mountains, the city and Diamond head. Sunrise and sunset are the makings of true photos of paradise with the sounds of the surf and waves as a lullaby. I can go on and on about how wonderful Karen is too. The kids were so entertained and delighted by her devotion to her surroundings. She is the best. It made for a special way for us to spend our 25th and our parents 50th and share it with our children. We had so many plans to see the entire island. The location was so perfect and was a great place to spend our nights and even the holiday cookout we enjoyed. Having all of the beach items, the grill and the space to move around we could have easily spent the entire vacation there at the house. Your island is awesome. Mahalo, and Gods blessings to you all.

Thank you for a wonderful visit to Oahu. This was our first Hawaiian visit and the hospitality extended by Karen and her "crew" was wonderful. The house and amenities exceeded all of our expectations. It was nice to get some "local" recommendations of great things to do and it was wonderful sitting out on the patio watching the waves come in without a thousand other vacationers around us all the time.It was a great visit and would recommend it to anyone.

Thank you Karen and friends at Hale Kai Ewa, we spent 11 great days at their house in Jan 2010. The house was great, with the ocean just steps away. It was great waking up and sleeping to sounds of the waves. The sunsets and sunrises were amazing. The house itself is very well equiped, with everything you could need. We had our kids with us and they were never bored. My family and I travel at least once a year and we have stayed at many different places, but none compare to the hospatily given to us by Karen and her family. It felt so good to stay somewhere that you were treated like family. Hope to be back soon.

Quiet and clean "home away from home." Karen is gracious and the location keeps you out of the usual crowds. Our daughter had just given birth and the extended family was in town, so we needed extra room. It was so restful, we kidnapped the daughter & had her recuperate at the beach house for a few days. No stress. If you want to miss the traffic & bustle of Downtown Honolulu, this is the place.

My Wife Sherry and I, along with our childeren, and Grand Children were fortunate guests of my wifes mother at the best beach house I can recall. The accomodations are excelant, and I felt right at home. The beach was straight out of vacation dream. My grand kids will never forget the mighty ocean, which cleanesd the beach of their sand castles every night and provided a clean slate for more creations every time we allowed them back near the water. The yard being slightly elavated and separate made an ideal place for them to play and be still visible from the kitchen. thanks for the great vacation!

My family and I have stayed here for the past 3 years. I would not stay ANYWHERE else when coming to Hawaii. Our son was 3yrs. old when we first stayed. He had the best time, there are many things here for him to play with. The house is very clean with all the comforts of home. If you stay here, you will not be disappointed! Thanks for all of the wonderful memories!!

A perfect place to relax - steps from the beach, peaceful. Morning coffee watching the sun rise over Honolulu and Diamond Head is a perfect way to start your day. We were well pleased with our accomodations.

From the San Francisco Chronicle, Mar 3, 02. "Secluded Oahu beachfront retreat Weary of the noise and crowds of Waikiki, we were delighted to discover a tranquil beachfront house on the southwest coast of Oahu that reminded us of the rustic charm of old Hawaii. Hale Kahakai Ewa offers all the comfort and amenities of a home away from home - including full kitchen, washer/dryer and complimentary use of beach equipment - for an unbelievably good value for families and small groups. We enjoyed romantic moonlight walks on uncrowded beaches, with gorgeous views of Diamond Head and the Waikiki skyline a short drive away..."
