The best log cabin in North Georgia directly on the Toccoa River for the finest trout fishing and family fun. This extreme North Georgia location (6 miles south of the Tenn/NC line) near Blue Ridge, Georgia offers a romantic escape, with a wonderful trout fishing experience or just plain fun and relaxation. Fisherman's Retreat, a beautiful, large 1700 square foot log cabin, offers the best trout fly fishing in North Georgia from the private, back yard with 320 feet of open easy access to the rocky, Toccoa River. This cabin is located on the lower Toccoa River where the trout fishing is the best you will find.

Fisherman's Retreat has a gated entry at the end of a private road with a large flat lawn that is like a park area and allows children the freedom to romp, play on the tire swing or have a family softball, baseball, or football game. Relax on the river deck at Fisherman's Retreat and roast marshmallows on the outdoor fireplace while you listen to the rippling waters of the Toccoa.

The 2 acre estate of Fisherman's retreat is really a mini-farm with blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, muscadines, and garden vegetables to be picked when in season. Or you can relax in the riverside arbor swing and watch the fishermen haul them in.

Plenty of parking is provided in the flat, circular drive around the flower garden. The gated entry at the end of the private road provides security but not seclusion and is only 15 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge. Past renters (with our former rental agent) all say that this is the best place they have ever stayed and it far exceeded their expectations. Book for a week; you will find that two or three days is not long enough!

Sleeping accommodations in the cabin consist of a king bed in the upstairs master, stacked single bunk beds in the adjacent loft, a twin bed in the adjacent sunroom, a queen bed downstairs, a queen sleep sofa and a comfy leather sofa in the living room may also be used. An additional bedroom with separate porch entry has two twin beds. By special arrangement, a detached shop that has a unique, air conditioned and roomy upper level bunkroom can be made available with 4 additional single beds for 4 more guests. There are no bathroom facilities in the bunkhouse but it is only 200 feet from the main cabin so the main house facilities can be conveniently used. An extra charge of $40 per night is charged for the use of the bunkhouse.

  • On our first trip to Blue Ridge, my husband, Buddy and I were married. We showed up, dressed in our finest, on the steps of the County court house and asked if someone could perform a marriage ceremony. Most of the friendly employees attended our wedding, none of whom we knew, and treated us with kindness while sharing in our joy. Variouse members of our "Wedding party", took pictures of us during the ceremony and outside as well. As we were leaving one of the employees told us that we were the first couple to ever just walk in and ask to be married! We have pictures of those generous strangers in our wedding album and cherish the memory of that day. We stayed in an A-Frame cabin on the river and returned home, much too soon. Thirty one years later we are here at Fisherman's paradise! We have found the people of Blue Ridge, especially Jerry and his wife to be just as friendly and welcoming as that first visit so many years ago. The seclusion and beauty of the cabin is far greater than we had imagined, bringing back many wonderful memories. Thank you for such wonderful attention to detail. We ate every meal on the back porch listening to the soothing sounds of the beautiful rushing water, with our "four legged" boys, Lance and Chase at our feet.   • Seven old college buddies -- from early 1970s spent a weekend here. We expected a "Big Chill" sort of weekend. Now we laugh and say it was more like "The Waltons" -- especially since four of the women spread out in the upstairs area, just like the Walton females. The married couple got the BR on main floor and the lone male the little BR off the porch. He made a perfect John-Boy. The swing, the firepit, the rushing river gave us a sense of tranquility and conversation never lagged. An unexpected cool spell in July added to the pleasantness. We didn't get in our cars all weekend and the TV was turned on once briefly to get a little news. Being able to pick squash and beans and blueberries added to our enjoyment (and the Waltons feel). Yes, all of us intend to come back --together and with our families. The Taylors were great hosts. I highly recommend this get away.
