Blue Ridge Cabin Rentals - Spacious log cabin directly on the Lower Toccoa River (4 miles below Blue Ridge Lake), with easy level entry into river for the finest trout fishing and family fun. This extreme North Georgia location (6 miles south of the Tenn/NC line) near Blue Ridge, Georgia offers a romantic escape, with a wonderful trout fishing experience or just plain fun and relaxation. Fisherman's Retreat, a beautiful, large 1700 square foot log cabin, offers the best trout fly fishing in North Georgia from the private, back yard with 320 feet of open easy access to the rocky, Toccoa River. This cabin is located on the lower Toccoa River where the trout fishing is the best you will find.
Fisherman's Retreat has a gated entry at the end of a private road with a large flat lawn that is like a park area and allows children the freedom to romp, play on the tire swing or have a family softball, baseball, or football game. Relax on the river deck at Fisherman's Retreat and roast marshmallows on the outdoor firepit (we provide the wood) while you listen to the rippling waters of the Toccoa.
The 2 acre estate of Fisherman's retreat is really a mini-farm with blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cherries, muscadines, and garden vegetables to be picked when in season. Or you can relax in the riverside arbor swing and watch the fishermen haul them in.
Plenty of parking is provided in the flat, circular drive around the flower garden. The gated entry at the end of the private road provides security but not seclusion and is only 15 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge. Past renters say that this is the best place they have ever stayed and it far exceeded their expectations. Book for a week; you will find that two or three days is not long enough!
Sleeping accommodations in the cabin consist of a king bed in the upstairs master, stacked single bunk beds in the adjacent loft, a twin bed in the adjacent sunroom, a queen bed downstairs, a queen sleep sofa and a comfy leather sofa in the living room may also be used. An additional bedroom with separate porch entry has two twin beds. By special arrangement, a detached shop that has a unique, air conditioned and roomy upper level bunkroom can be made available with 4 additional single beds for 4 more guests. There are no bathroom facilities in the bunkhouse but it is only 200 feet from the main cabin so the main house facilities can be conveniently used. A small additional charge may be added for cleaning of the bunkhouse after use.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2001
Charlotte and I have always loved the North Georgia Mountains and bought our first place here about 15 years ago. When this wonderful place on the Toccoa became available we opted to sell the other mountain property and buy the river cabin. Our children and seven grandchildren love it and tell us we can never sell it. Now we have another home nearby and are able to make this park-like property available to everyone in our rental program. Everybody that stays here always wants to return! (The photo is of one of our daughter's with her family on the side of the river.)
Why the Owner Chose Blue Ridge
This location on the lower Toccoa river is exceptional due to it unique position approximately half-way between the Blue Ridge Lake dam and the Curtis Switch road take-out. For float fishing entry at the dam and easy take-out at the cabin is one good option, or entry at the cabin and take-out at Curtis Switch bridge is a second option. For summertime tubing has the same options (we have some tubes you can use).
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
Our large open yard gives plenty of room for family yard games. We also have a terrific fire pit and provide wood for your marshmallow or hot dog roasting. Of course there is the 4-person hot tub on the spacious patio with gas or charcoal grills. A river deck for spin casting is also provided. A tire swing for the little ones and a horse-shoe court is also provided. There is a river-side arbor swing and garden area with garden vegetables and fruits when in season.

Thank you for a wonderful weekend getaway. Fisherman's Retreat offers a perfect romantic getaway or in our case a family outing. Our 7 year old caught a 2 lb trout right off the bank! In addition to fishing we enjoyed canoeing, riding bikes and playing baseball and we didn't even have to leave the house to do these things!!!! I would recommend Fisherman's Retreat to anyone. Thank you again for a wonderful weekend. We are already planning our next trip.
Owner response:Thank you for your comment. We look forward to your return visit. Jerry

The Fisherman's Retreat was even better than we hoped. It is very comfortable and everything you could need for a great trip is provided. We loved the screen porch, the hot tub & most of all the beautiful scenery. It is situated so that you do not see your neighbors and feels so secluded & private. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a place to relax and enjoy nature. There is plenty of shopping & other activites in the vacinity if you need more action on your vacation.

This place was amazing. It would have been perfect except the owner (who is very nice) came to the cabin waaayyy too much! We had nothing to hide, but didn't feel like we could relax. Felt like we were in a fish bowl. We decided as a family that as much as we LOVED the cabin and location - we couldn't go back there :( Just be aware of this if you stay there! 9am visits from the owner and multiple visits throughout the stay... Again, the place was amazing and the owner was very nice - we just didn't feel like we could relax!
Owner response:The guest appears to have the wrong impression of my visits to the cabin in response to problems that were corrected during their visit. Perhaps she should recall that I came not to visit or check on them, but in response to a correction of problems they encountered. They ran out of propane that we provide (free of charge) for the propane grill. I provided a partial tank from my personal home, then had theirs refilled and returned the full tank to them. Because it turned cool I had to light the gas fireplace pilot for them. In no case did I come down correct problems before 10 AM. I am very disappointed in the scathing comments and certainly feel they are not justified. I never visit just to check the guests. I only attempt to give our guests the very best in service and accommodations. I am certain that the guest is venting because I charged an additional cleaning fee of $25 for the detached unit. Their children used the unit without authorization, which is required before use.

Hi Charlotte and Jerry! I just wanted to say thank you for the warm welcome, and let you know that we enjoyed everything about being there; had the river's water not been so cold, this would have been nothing short of PERFECT!!! Thank you for your kindness, the zucchini and blueberry cake was delicious, as well as the lemonade and cookies, that was very thoughtful of you, thank you!
Owner response:Thanks for your gracious remarks. We are pleased that you had a ggod time and look forward to your return.

We have held mini family reunions in this area for 5 years and this yard is tops! The house is beautiful and well maintained but probably best for parties of 8 or less in my opinion, due to having two bathrooms. That being said, we only went inside when we had to because the property is AMAZING! We played frisbee and baseball; we pushed the kids in the tire swing; and every once in a while froze ourselves in the river. The kids ate blueberries off the huge bushes! The owner lives nearby and was so gracious, showing us where to put the raft in for a ride (too cold for tubing!) The property was easy to access, too, with a nice grocery store nearby. The outdoor shower was also a fun feature. I would definitely stay at Fishermans Retreat again!
Owner response:Thanks so much for your kind remarks. As you mentioned there is a wonderful outside shower with hot/cold water, so two bathrooms becomes less limiting. We also encourage guests to consider the use of the detached unit (at small added cost) when more space and beds are needed. We are always trying to improve our already wonderful vacation site.

A Relaxing Toccoa River Paradise Location!

Charlotte and Jerry, Thank you for providing a river paradise for us for two weeks. Fisherman's Retreat is such a picturesque property and we enjoyed being just steps from the Toccoa River. We loved getting up in the morning and enjoying our coffee on your dock and then moving our chairs along the river as the sun spread across the lawn. It was a delight to easily wade into the river to fly fish (and we are anxious to return in order to catch the "big one" that eluded us!). Your home was very clean and neat, and the kitchen was fully stocked with every gadget for a vacationing chef! We think your location is ideal for exploring Blue Ridge, McCaysville, and other surrounding areas in the N. Georgia mountains. An added bonus was your lush summer garden filled to overflowing with peppers, tomatoes, blueberries, summer squash and zucchini. Thank you for the special touches you provided and for being such wonderful hosts. We will see you again, hopefully very soon. And, we have already recommended your home to our friends. Michele and Mike (Longwood, Florida)
Owner response:Thank you for your glowing review. We very much enjoy hearing the positive remarks of a satisfied guest. Your rental of two weeks gave you a real opportunity to fully appreciate our delightful property and your review shows it. We look forward to hearing from your friends and referrals who can be assured that we will make every effort to also provide a memorable vacation for them. Would you believe we still have an abundance of blueberries on our bushes?

We absolutely LOVED this beautiful cabin on the river! If you are considering staying at this house, you won't be disappointed. They have everything you could possibly want PLUS the most amazing yard that people dream about!! The house is so charming and spacious. It's very private and peaceful here. My new husband and I got married on May 28th and had the reception here at this house. WOW! We had such a memorable time and the setting was absolutely perfect. Everyone that came to the wedding reception was asking for the house information, so they can stay here sometime soon. It was a dream come true kind of day, and I am so happy that we will always have "Fisherman's Retreat" as a place to come back to and remember our wonderful wedding weekend! I am in love with this place!!!! Kelly and John
Owner response:Thanks for your comments, Kelly and John. We are very pleased that everything went well for you. Have a long and happy marriage.

I recently booked this location for an intimate wedding and it was the perfect spot. We were married under the trellis next to the river, and there is a walkway from the cabin to the trellis that makes a natural aisle. The yard/lawn is flat so conducive for many guests. Also, the master suite is upstairs, so there is plenty of room for the bride to get ready upstairs while the rest of the guests and groom can be downstairs. The owners could not have been any nicer and I really appreciated all of their kindness and hospitality. The cabin is quite comfortable and really has anything you might need. The property is clean, well maintained, and accurately described. I would recommend eating at "Harvest on Main" in Blue Ridge (the trout was terrific) as well as visiting Mercier Orchards.
Owner response:Thank you for your kind review. We try to make everyone special and were very pleased to have you get married at our wonderful cabin. We hope you and your friends will remember us in your future vacation plans. There is another wedding scheduled in May and we hope that your wedding is the first of many. You and your spouse are so smart to save all the big bucks for your future needs. My wife and I did so over 50 years ago by eloping and saving the money (which we really did not have). It worked well for us and I hope it will for you folks also.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful home! All of our expectations were exceeded! We especially enjoyed relaxing by the firepit while watching our son fish from the fishing deck and our daughter play on the tire swing! The hot tub was awesome; the bedding was dreamy and your kitchen is better equipped than mine! We will be sure to return!
Owner response:We appreciate your kind remarks. We try our best to anticipate the needs of all of our guests, and it appears that we scored with you folks. We certainly enjoyed having you as guests and will be pleased t have you return. Please try to return in mid-summer when we have garden veggies, blackberries and blueberries available. First of all, there were ten of us at the cabin for four days. The cabin is furnished beautifully,is very clean and well maintained. We all had an excellent time fishing, visiting, and watching the Grand -Childern playing. Of course, they put us through the ringer trying to keep up with them. I can remember when it wasn't such a task to keep up, but now it's a different story:):) We cooked trout from the Toccoa river for lunch. Nothing like fresh trout for lunch. We spent time telling stories around the fire pit, roasting marshmellows for the kids and sausage for the men:):) The cabin had everything and then some. All you need to bring is salt, pepper, lemon and butter to grill the trout for lunch !! The women went antiquing while we men fished with the grand-children. This was a family reunion that will bring back memories for a long time. The last words from my wife when we pulled out of the drive and headed home were "I didn't want to leave !" For a woman who hails from Brooklyn, NY to have said this means a lot. NUF Said:):):) Many thanks to our hosts for the wonderful zucchini bread. We all enjoyed it ! Sinply a wonderful vacation spot for young and old(er) alike. We plan to return as often as possible. Many thanks to Jerry and Charlotte for providing this wonderful "retreat."
Owner response:The fishing is usually quite good, but it seems that you folks had exceptionally good luck. We will be sure to pass on your fishing tips for catching the big ones like the 6-1/2 pound brown that you caught. Thanks so much for your rental and we look forward to your return. Jerry and Charlotte
