  I could not agree more with all the prior reviews. This is a place not to be missed. Our family (my husband and I, our three children ages 5,3,and 1) and our nanny, stayed here in September and could not have chosen a better place to accommodate us. It takes two minutes maximum to walk to the beach, they have toys for kids, towels, a lovely outdoor shower, and once you are inside the front gate you feel like you are in your own secret haven...it is very private and the landscaping enriches the island aloha feeling, the home calls for entertaining, it can accommodate a large family yet still have many areas to escape for a moment of solitude. The owner Mike is exactly as described in a prior review...like a breath of fresh air and 5 star service. The house was very clean, impeccably organized and detailed instructions on how to operate everything...I loved the two pages of how to turn on the lights from entry to back bedroom. The photos are exactly like what the home looks like inside and perhaps do not do the home justice. It is the only place we will stay when we visit Oahu and we have stayed many places. I give it five stars all around.

  Lanikai House was a true oasis for us. The house is well situated, close to what I think is the nicest beach in Oahu in a very lovely neighbourhood. There are many things to do in the immediate vacinity and it isn't too far or difficult to get to other areas of the island. The house itself is well equipped, very clean and had plenty of space for our family of 6, 3 of whom were teenagers and liked to have their own space away from adults on occassion. We loved the Hawaiian decor, everywhere you looked there was something interesting to see. There are a lot of personal touches in this home that contribute to it feeling like your own as opposed to a vacation rental. The yard was so private and well maintained it was just such a pleasure to sit outside on one of the many different lanais. The owner is also very responsive and helpful. I have nothing negative to say about the properity. I have been highly recommending Lanikai House to all my friends and family. It is truly a vacation paradise especially for those who wish to be away from the hustle of Waikiki and enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere.

  My family and I stayed in this home for 30 days in July 2012. This is a beautiful, very private vacation home. The pictures do not do it justice. We have stayed in Lanikai previously. It is a beautiful, upscale neighborhood and this property affords an amazing amount of privacy. The landscaping and lanai areas make the outside where you want to be all the time. The inside is clean, decorated very tastefully and feels like a real home. It doesn't have the "vacation renters" wear and tear. The owner, Mike is a breath of fresh air to deal with. When use the hot tub, which is a quality product, just look up and you can see a large canopy tree above you and it's beautiful. We have a 10 year old and felt very safe with her playing around the yard because you can lock 2 gates with bolts and no one can come in the yard. The hedges rise above the walls around the property and you can't see the road and no one can see in. The sandy beach is a couple short blocks away. The owner has a lighting plan in the house book and take the time to use it. The inside lights are beautiful at night. The outside shower is great and it's hot and cold water. Another unusual addition is all the shampoo, hand soap, and detergent available to vacationers. Usually, you only get enough to last a couple days, if any. The wet bar has a fridge-which came in handy. The last renters left us a 6 pack of Corona and we did the same for the renters following us. We've stayed on the water previously in Lanikai-there is NO privacy in many of the vacation rentals on the beach. Although the view is great-too many fishermen, tourists and locals show up in your yard. You won't be disappointed if you rent this property. This is a GREAT property! Thanks Mike!!

  This is the first time we rented a place for a vacation and therefore did quite a bit of research prior to choosing this one. I reviewed several hundred listings on several sites, picked this house, and was very happy with the choice. Several things made the experience stand out from the others, and if they are important to you, I would suggest looking into this property. 1) Unlike many of the other listings you'll see online, this property is tastefully decorated - hawaiian rentals have a preponderance of over-pastelized furnishings that look like they haven't been changed in 20 years. The place feels actually new and well finished, and the provided pictures actually under-sell how nice and spacious it is. For the prices we paid we were not able to find anything close in the area. We did not have the headcount to justify some of the more elaborate rentals on the island so this place was great along all the price/size/quality dimensions. We could have easily slept 2 more people. The dark wood is well complimented by an abundance of natural light. 2) The kitchen is very new and well equipped, with a large fridge and freezer. There is also a great grill behind the house that is clean and very useable. 3) The house is well covered with wireless internet, which was fast enough for VOIP, which was important because the house is (as of Oct 2010) in a verizon dead-spot despite the aggressive claims of their coverage map. Interestingly many local Hawaiians favor Sprint for its coverage. 4) The house is close enough to the beach, less than a crosstown NY block, close enough that if you forget something its not even irritating to go back. The beach at Lanikai is in my opinion the best on the island by a significant margin, although that's almost like saying 1982 was the best bordeaux in the 80s. 5) I thought because there were no pictures of the jacuzzi it would be a rinky-dink affair which was fine with me. I was wrong and it was great. 6) The wraparound wall is a fantastic feature and very attractive. in the interest of full disclosure minor downsides: -water pressure not amazing (I am spoiled in this regard) -poor verizon coverage (ditto) -it is far away from Yohei, the best restaurant in Hawaii (kind of reaching here, nothing is far on oahu) Save yourself the time doing the research and rent this place if you are in the area and have a budget within ~100/day of the asking and any of the above are important to you.

  My family and I were very happy with this rental after staying there for over 5 months. You won't be disappointed. Walk to beach, bus route to Kailua or Honolulu.
