Our adorable, lake house is perfect for those who want all the amenities in the quiet of the woods. We are ten minutes from the dining, shops, theater, and beaches of South Haven, but in the peace and quiet of Grand Junction.
Imagine a two-hour drive from Chicago that ends at a dirt fire-lane. Drive slowly down this curving road and see the perfect getaway beckoning!
Our property features 12 acres of lake front, private woods and open fields for picnics or sports. 150 feet of pristine lakefront property includes a dock, a firepit for bonfires and the most adorable and comfortable house you can imagine. There is even a darling little gazebo in which to to rest while strolling the trails through the woods.
The upstairs features a master bedroom with a king-size bed and stunning sunrise views over Saddle Lake. The second bedroom upstairs features a full-size bed, large closet and tasteful decorations. There is also a beautifully restored bathroom featuring an antique claw foot bathtub/shower.
The first floor is comprised of an enclosed porch filled with comfy furniture, boating and fishing bric-a-brac and a beautiful view of the woods sloping down to the lake. There is a cozy living room with a pull-out sofa and wood burning fireplace. A small bedroom with a twin bed. The TV room/bedroom has a full size pullout sleeper, TV, DVD player, and an X BOX gaming system.
The fourth bedroom has a king-size bed with direct access to a 1/2 bathroom. Additional rooms include a spacious mudroom with a washer and dryer and a large fully-functioning and well-equipped kitchen. Other conveniences are central air and heat, a gas grill, and water cooler system. (please note we do not provide water or propane for grill.)
Everything has been maintained meticulously with love and attention by the owners and the care-takers. In our opinion, the best part is the large wooden deck with a hot-tub, heat-lamp, and outdoor fireplace! In the summer, take advantage of cooking out and host a big bonfire down by the lake. It is like being on Golden Pond!

Why the Owner Chose South Haven
Convenient drive from Chicago. Wonderful community, great beaches and a gorgeous piece of land. We are just outside of South Haven and have the unique offering of a lot of elbow room. Most rentals are sandwiched on top of one another with no privacy. We are nestled at the top of a hill, over looking a great lake on 10 acres of private land. You are getting an estate when you rent our home, not just a rental house. It is your own private sanctuary.
The Unique Benefits at this Single Family Lake House
Fishing is wonderful right off the dock, boating is exceptional on the 225 acre Saddle Lake, the quiet that comes along with the remote local. Quick drive to South Haven and the wonderful beaches of Lake Michigan. Shermer's dairy has the best ice cream I have ever tasted. You drive past every time you go to town. Yeah! The great roadside vegetable stand at Ruehl Farms on Phoenix road. Blanche is the best.

Dear Carter My In laws and my kids had the best time at your vacation home. My wife and I had the opportunity to unwind and relax. Great bonding, great weather. We were able to explore everywhere, as well as utilize the lake!! We went to the Kalamazoo Air-Zoo, the Michigan Adventure Park. Climbed the dunes at Van Buren. Blueberry’s, blueberry’s blueberry’s….Ice Cream every day!! NO TV!!! Played board games and laughed the entire week. My sister came up for day and had a ball also. Thanks again. Dear Mr. Reese, This note has been a long time coming and I'm sorry I didn't send it earlier. The only excuse I can give is that R & R was like a whirlwind and I'm just now getting settled back in over here. But, I just wanted to express my sincere gratitude for what you and your family did for my family and me. My wife and I both said that the best time we had over my leave was when we were at the lakehouse together. It was so peaceful there and isolated from every distraction. It gave us a few days to just be a family again and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful location to do so. We were able to have daily walks and went in to South Haven to see the lake and maybe stop for ice cream a couple times. My daughter loved the "swimming pool" and she even was able to feed a swan that came up to the dock. We had so many wonderful experiences there and we owe that to you. We tried to be respectful guests and hope everything was left in order. We can never say thanks enough for what you did for us and will look for any chance in the future to repay you in some way.
