My family and I stayed at the house a few weeks ago and had a great experience. The location is superb and the house is clean and well maintained. The owners know the area extremely well and provided insightful knowledge on how to plan our weekend. They have a passion for skiing and all things Gore. We will certainly be staying here again and I would recommend this rental highly whether it be for a long weekend or a whole week- it's the perfect fit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

It was a very nice (and amazingly well-kept) house just few minutes from Gore Mountain.A big dining area, living room, and a porch - were all very helpful when you have a bunch of kids. Great location, and very reasonable price.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

Listing and description were very accurate as well as photos. Very comfortable for 2 families with 5 kids total. Great location as very close to Gore Mountain 5 minute drive. Owners very prompt responding to questions. This was my first experience using VRBO and would do it again. I would recommend this property and consider staying here again. Town of North Creek is small with one Main Street with a few restaurants and supermarket which are within walking distance.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

This was my third or fourth weekend stay at the house, first time as the 'renter.' The renovation of the upstairs bathroom is a real plus, and the new towels are thick and absorbent, a great combo. Due to my injury which eliminated skiing this season, my wife and I got to do some sight-seeing. We had planned to go to Lake Placid one day, but changed our minds when my wife found the Wild Center's website. The Wild Center is the catchy name for the Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks. IT WAS FANTASTIC. It is 65 miles NNW and a bit over an hour from North Creek, in Tupper Lake, easily accessible via Rt. 28 to 30 or 28N to 30 (we took both routes, one going and one returning). If you like museums you will love this place. It is not large, yet we spent 5 hours there and loved it all, including good sandwiches in the cafe. There was even more to do, and more outside in warmer weather. It is very modern (opened in '06 or '07) and the exhibits reflect that. It is designed to show and explain the creation of the Adirondack area by glacier activity and all the various terrains included, and their interaction, and animals, fish and birds. They have activities for kids, but we didn't need them. Everything is very accessible--you could reach out and touch the snapping turtles and ducks and frogs if you wanted to (or are dumb enough to). The highlight of the place are the river otters, which you can watch frolicking in their large water-filled enclosure all day. They never stop swimming, playing and entertaining, including getting up on their hind quarters for the naturalist. They have 4 otters and have 2 out at all times. Don't miss the naturalist's lecture/demo at 2:30. There is a large theater that shows several videos, and the center of the exhibit area has perhaps a dozen video-stations, each offering several selections that you can chose. All are relatively short, and interesting. I particularly liked the ones at the stuffed moose, about how they train sniffer-dogs to find moose scat in order to set up a tracking system. Check out the website, especially days and hours of operation, because they have limited days in the winter and are closed all of April. But it's a great place!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Dan & Amy, Thanks for a wonderful stay at Gore Mountain House! Your warm hospitality and thoughtful in all the little things made our stay at North Creek enjoyable and relaxing! We skiied our hearts out; the little ones had a fantastic time, and enjoyed the games, books and DVDs. Our older kids took advantage of Bar Vino's and enjoyed immensely. We hope to do a repeat trip in the future! Thanks for your attentiveness to detail! The house was immaculate, and well stocked for all our needs. We used the grill to cook steaks, an easy meal after a day on the slopes! The convenience of the Grand Union and the Catholic Church were a bonus--we could walk to both! Great to have the opportunity to meet Dan! The new bathroom was terrific with all the adults getting ready! Great job! Thanks again, Sue & EdRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at Gore Mountain house with our family of 4 and our friends' family (4 more). We had a great time. Loads to do if you like the outdoors, and North Creek is a wonderful town. The house was very neat and had everything that we could think of to make our stay comfortable. Dan was very easy to work with as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone I knew.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Hi Dan, We had a wonderful weekend at the Gore House. Thanks for having the instructions posted so everybody in the group had access to them during their stay (it made my job as the organizer much easier). Everybody loved the house, it was a great first group outing success with my colleagues; we spent the weekend white wtaer rafting. The beds were comfy, the kitchen is well equipped, the large dinning room was excellent; especially the selection of board games to play (we had a rainy day so we could not be out). It was so close to the small downtown area that we didn't bother to cook, we just ate out both nights.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We just returned from another great year visiting the Gore Mountain House. Since it was our second visit, this time it really felt like our home away from home - everything just as we'd left it. Spacious, clean and comfortable. A 5 minute right to the mountain, and we're off! We'll definitely be back next year and the only thing we'd do differently is stay a couple more days. Highly recommend the house to anyone.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children.

The location was great. close to all amenities. The neighboors were very friendly. All the photos and listing reflected the rental's apperance and amenities. The house was very clean and well maintained. I appreciated the hand cream in the kitchen and laundry the detergent. The kitchen was well equipped. (from tea towels, great pot and pans, silverware and plates, salt pepper etc) Everything was in excellent condition. We enjoyed using the fire pit. The owner was very helpful in answering all our questions and concerns I will recommend this property to all my friends. What nearby activities, attractions and restaurants would you recommend? The skiing at Gore mountain is super, sarah's cafe wow not words to describe the food and coffee. To bad it was close for two days.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Gore Mountain house with my husband and 6 friends just last weekend. The listing was true to the house, and the owners were very easy to deal with and very organized. The house offered every amenity we could have needed and then some. The location was fantastic for walkable access to Main Street as well as to the location of the wedding that my friends and I were attending. We made use of the large dining table for fun meals together, the child with us loved the bunk beds room, and the house never felt crowded. We were also really impressed with the plethora of activity brochures and maps that were available in the house - great attention to detail by the owners! We were there as the leaves were turning color in October and had a great time riding the gondola to the top of the mountain. All in all, the house is a great value, and I hope to return again - perhaps for ski season!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children.

my family of 5 stayed at this property the first week of august. we grew to love north creek and its people. this is for those who want a place that's quiet (compared to lake george) and yet within driving distance to many sights. the main street of north creek is quaint , you can walk it in 10 minutes and have breakfast, shop a little, or have some wine and music. it can be dead at times and very lively at other times. sarah's bakery is a must do!!! white water rafting is a must do too. the house is perfect for kids and has every amenity you would need. be aware there is no AC although not really required because even in august the nights were quite cool. my only complaint is that the neighborhood can be loud at times- we heard a dune buggy , motorcycle, and occasional trucks at night when windows were open but other than that it is a peaceful and quiet neighborhood. This house is in a neighborhood so there are no scenic views directly from the house. your view is another persons home and backyard. Now that we've gotten to know the area we would love to come back, the price for renting this house is awesome and working with Dan Sell is a breeze!!! He is very caring and easy to communicate with. You and your family will love the gore mountain area and the cute town of north creek our boys ages 10 and 12 went to the local hardware store every day! Easy walkable access to large grocery store, wine store, and restaurants. Hike to blue ledges. Go to lake minerva for a quiet place to swim and read and waste away an afternoon. Have smores outside in the firepit. There is so much to do/see you will love it. We are coming back.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Last week I rented the Gore Mountain house. I've been there about four times already and, like always, had a great time. We had a large party of 11 people and everyone loved it. The close proximity to the ski lifts, to the tubing area and restaurants/stores worked out perfectly. The large dining room fit everyone for diner and card games at night. The beds were comfortable and plentiful. The house was clean and had all the comforts of home, including laundry room, dishwasher, cable TV/internet. I highly recommend this rental house and we are already planning on doing it again next year.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Thanks so much for letting us stay at your house at Gore Mountain! We absolutely fell in love with the town, mountain and all the lovely people. We loved how close your house is to the mountain for skiing, as well as walking distance to the town. Barvino was excellent! Your board in the kitchen with information on the town was SO helpful to us too! The house was great - so much storage for putting in all the ski stuff you have to haul with you too! House was very clean too! Just perfect. Thanks again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Also appreciated all of the info on the North Creek area that Dan provides at the house. Walking distance (1 block) from the quaint little town of North Creek, and quick drive to the mountain for hiking, snowboarding etc... The owner, Dan Sell, is very accomodating and nice to work with. The house was exactly as advertised. Very large and functional, accomodating a large group. The property was clean and well maintained. The owners were very professional and easy to deal with. There was ample parking. A nice touch was the section set up with pamphlets and other items making it easy to figure out all of the entertainment options. North Creek the location was a nice hub for Adirondack vacationing if you don't like being surrounded by all the tourists and touristy stuff to be found in Lake George and Lake Placid; but they are close enough (.5 hour and an hour respectively) that you can take trips in if you like. Fishing, cycling, whitewater rafting, and hiking options are available and we made use of them all.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Thanks again for a great stay at the house. We keep this place as the home base for the Hidden Valley Alpine Racing Association for all our races at Gore, and it's always just what we want. We'll be back again in March for our next big race! It's nice having a place to stay that is so close to the mountain. This sure beats a hotel room, and is far better than any of the condos in the area. Mike KowalskiDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1

Dear Amy and Dan, We just wanted to thank you for a great weekend at your home. The Gore Mountain House is terrific and we had a very fun and relaxing time - and even enjoyed some snow this early in the season! The place is so clean and comfortable - everything was just great. We went to Laura's on Saturday and enjoyed meeting the locals. We even got to "play with the band" and I have a bruise from the tambourine to prove it! :-) North Creek is a great little town and we hope to come back again. Thank you! The beds were clean and comfortable and the house was full of charm. The home was toasty and warm and we really felt at home. This house was perfect for our family. My kids loved the fact that they didn't have to share a room (much less a bed) like in the hotel rooms they are used to. Even in the heat/humidity of August the home was cool due to a great working air conditioning system. The washer/dryer really came in handy but my favorite spot was sitting on the front porch swing. Thanks for the great communication and ease of making the reservation - your beautiful house is the perfect example of what a great VRBO home is!!Did you find this review helpful? The Gore Mountain House was an absolutely ideal experience for me and my group. I stayed at the house with 5 friends, but could have easily brought an additional two to four and been comfortable in these accommodations. The house was immaculately clean, and exactly as described. It was spacious, and had all of the dishes, silver wear, towels and other amenities one could ask for. The location is also perfect... just down the street from a super market, restaurants, a video store, etc. We had come to go white water rafting, and the house was only a 5 minute drive from the outfitter we selected, among others. The house also had nice touches, such as the wooden swinging bench in the enclosed porch. Overall, I can not say enough good things about the property. Perfect experience.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This house is great for a group of friends. Lots of room to dine together. Minutes from Gore Mountain. The owner is very nice to deal with. Highly recommended.Lower bunk bed might give you a bump on the head first night but the kids loved them! We would definitly stay here again.Owner response: Thanks for the feedback Bruce! After a few of our personal guests also gave themselves bumps on the head we switched out the high profile box springs on the bottom bunks with 1/2" bunkie boards which provide for much greater head room.

I really enjoyed my time at this great house. It felt like a home away from home. There was plenty of room for our large group. It is in close proximity to the mountain and a short walk to restaurants and shops. I will be back and heard that it is a great summer getaway as well.Did you find this review helpful? This house was great. The beds were comfy and the kitchen is huge. A great place to relax after days of skiing. We'll be back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The Gore Mountain House is truly a home away from home. The moment we arrived, we felt comfortable and at ease in this charming house. It was big enough to accommodate our group of 10 adults, has all the comforts of home and is conviently located in the quaint town of North Creek. It's also walking distance from shops, 5 minutes to skiing and has a tubing park close by for the young at heart. I highly recommend the Gore Mountain House. I can't wait to return in the Spring!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
