We (2 parents, 2 kids ages 11 and 8) stayed for a week and had a great time. The location is great - it certainly feels like you are way off the beaten path, but it isn't far from the wineries and town. The cottage is nice and small (we like that) but has a massive deck and a long dock. The kayaks are great and the lake is quite stunning overall. Facilities - the place has pretty much everything you need. Lots of plates, glasses, etc.. Great BBQ - same as mine at home (well, until I replaced it a month ago) - solid Weber. Trips - head to the Watkins Glen State Park is a must-see. We also enjoyed the Corning Glass Museum. Wineries - hit the Heron Hill (original location on Keuka Lake - it's way nicer than the one that is right by the cottage), and Fox Run Food - we didn't head out much but a definite hit is R.E.D.S Hot - a Finger Lakes Wienery - awesome hot dogs. Just south on the highway. There was a minor issue with a lot of seaweed due to the massive rains, but Ed took care of that nicely. Overall an excellent stay - Ed was a great host, visiting occasionally to check up on things and take care of little things (e.g. empty BBQ propane - fixed in minutes). No hesitation at all in recommending the Journey's End.

The cottage was perfect for our family. It was very clean and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed (loved the bottled water dispenser for fresh cold water). We loved that there were a variety of boats at the cottage to use and we used all of them. The dock was awesome and we spent a lot of time there sitting in the Adirondack chairs fishing and watching the boats go by. Our boys spent hours jumping off the dock to swim in the lake. We used the fire pit by the water to cook hotdogs and smores and enjoyed sitting on the swing by the water. The decks were great and the rock walkways were beautifully accented with lighting at night. The owner was wonderful and called shortly after we arrived and also stopped by during our stay to make sure everything was fine. While we were there we hiked Watkins Glen and also visited the Windmill in Penn Yan but other than that we just enjoyed our time at the cottage and all it had to offer.
Owner response:Great Family! Loved having them and their parents!

This cottage is perfect for a family vacation--we loved it! It is right on beautiful Seneca Lake. Very homey, immaculate and comfortable, and has everything you would need for a great, relaxing vacation. It is very quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed the kayaks, went fishing, swimming, grilled out and drank alot of wine! How I would love to be on the deck of Journey's End this evening sharing a bottle of white wine with Bud and Roseann! (Yes, Bud, I said white--I think you and the fabulous Finger Lakes wineries have made a convert out of me!) The owners bent over backwards to make our vacation delightful and so memorable! We hope to return soon!

We just returned from a week at Journey's End and enjoyed every minute of our time there. The cottage was cozy and well equiped with plenty of dishes and pots and pans etc. The vew was wonderful and the outside seating was superb with adirondack chairs everywhere. We had wonderful weather and there are many local attractions, from winerys, antiquing and sidewalk sales. My husband caught his first carp off the dock and a pike not far from shore in the rowboat. We used the paddleboat as well. Saw several deer and took some great pictures. Thanks for a very nice vacation.

The extremely warm and cozy cottage was well laid out and very comfortable and had a surprising abundance of outside space in which to relax and enjoy--a large sunny patio near the grill for eating or sun bathing, another shaded patio for quiet reading, not to mention large sitting areas with Adirondack chairs on the dock and on the house porch where we all enjoyed beautiful views of sky and water. Extremely clean, well-equipped, and well-maintained, with charming details.

Dear Roseann and Ed,We loved it here so much that we returned- this year we had a seafood lovers weekend- clams, lobster, shrimp, chowder and crab, etc. We settled in quickly because we knew the lay of the land. We weren’t here an hour and a lake storm blew in, tossing two deck chairs into the lake to drift several cottages down- we retrieved them after the storm. This year there were neighbors on both sides of us-very nice young people-we had some laughs and shared our food and drink with some of them.P.S. The lobster t-shirts were a big hit-(Cindy hand painted on for each of us-we looked great!)Looking forward to a return visit-So many laughs our sides are aching! Thanks so much-The Honeoye CrewLynn and Carolyn GortonLori White and Tom GendreauGuy and Cindy Ward

We had no idea what to expect of this area. To me it is a magical/majestic place that I don’t have a handle on after a couple of days. As for Journey’s End, it was a perfect place for my friends and I to kick back, relax, and laugh! Till our hearts content you guys did a perfect job with the place. Everything we needed was here and the view of the lake is a comfort to the soul. I think we all agree we’d like to return, but one thing is certain-I’ll remember this place well and with a big smile! Thanks so much!Pat and John Vida

10/13-10/15, 2007 Truly a wonderful vacation home! Your cottage totally surpassed our expectations! It was unbelievably clean, comfortable and inviting! Every need of your guests have been considered and met. From games to books to the extremely well stocked cottage kitchen..."Journey's End" has so much to offer families and couples. I would defintely recommend this cottage to my friends and to my customers at "OWNER DIRECT" and "ITRAVEX". Hopefully, we will be able to make a return visit during the peak season, so we can take advantage of the inviting beach and waterfront, kayaks and paddle boat. A barbeque at sunset must be a beautiful experience! Thank You! Nikki Fleury Deb McCann

9/2-9/4/2007 Dear Roseann & Ed Thanks again for letting us stay here on such short notice. We finally got to see how beautiful Seneca lake really is and how clean the water was. We loved everything about the cottage. Roseann does a wonderful job with all the special touches that make everything feel so cozy. The children had a blast! The boat ride was awesome! You both made us feel so welcome. We think you made our stay here something we will cherish and remember forever! Our stress stayed at home when we came to "Journey's End". We will definitely be coming back soon. Thanks for the wonderful time with our family! The Russo Family, Margie, Chuck, Jennifer, Luke and Brent P. S. Thank You for the memento. It is so adorable!

8/5 - 12, 2007 We had a wonderful time at your house and playing in the water. The house was very "Kid" friendly. It was also a great location to explore nearby areas. We loved the glass museum in Corning, the Strong museum in Rochester, the Watkins Glen State Park and visiting friends in Skaneatlas, NY.

June 10th-13th This was our summer get together - 3 couples from Florida, New Jersey and Ohio. we enjoyed our entire time here and were blessed with outstanding weather. We appreciate the cottage being equipped with everything that one would need and then some. Amenities that we really appreciated were the Adirondack chairs on the deck and dock, the kayaks, shampoo, cascade dishwasher soap, fully equipped kitchen, gas grill, water dispenser etc. The area is beautiful from the lake to the surrounding hillsides. We enjoyed lunch at the Wagner winery across the lake, our hikes at the Watkins Glen State Park, and our visit to the Belhurst Castle. We really enjoyed dinner at the Madderlake resturant near Geneva. We take home many fond memories. Enjoyed meeting the both of you and wish you a very happy summer! 9/10 thru 9/12/06 Dear Bud and Roseann, Thank You for a great new vacation spot! We absolutely ejoyed our stay at the cottage, especially with all the comforts of home! You have the perfect combination of beauty between the lake and the cottage. The woodwork was very impressive and I loved the modern appliances. All of your hard work really shows in both the appearance and presentation. The weather was alot nicer than we imagined it would be. Also, as the forcast originally called for rain thoughout our entire stay, I actually got a sunburn! I picked up some wine from one of the many local wineries in the area to share with my friends. By the way, your property description on "VRBO".....everything was just as you advertised and that I think was pretty impressive! Thanks Again! Andra Telenda

What a beautiful cottage! As we stayed here over the week, we only came to appreciate the work you put into it and the quality of the upgrades and workmanship even more. It contibuted greatly to making our stay so pleasant. The weather was perfect, it rained only one day. We were able to take advantage of the "Outlet Bike trail"-truly a beautiful ride! Watkins Glen...a wonder of nature and great educational experience. The Corning Museum of glass is a fantastic place especially on a rainy day, not to mention the wineries! I wish we had more time for more of the wineries, but the kids wanted to Kayak, fish or swim....! Thank you again, every thing was perfect, including your tasteful decorating. The best and most memorable though are the millions upon millions of stars at night. As we sat on the beach in front of the fire with the kids toasting marshmallows....allin a sea of stars.......Beautiful! Thank You Mary Nichols Jim Murray and family Doylestown,PA(near Philly)

July 23rd thru August 6th, 2006 Ed and Roseann You have a lovely treasure of a lake cottage here - we have thoroughly enjoyed it for the past two weeks. We have enjoyed the museums(Corning Glass and Curtiss Air). The Geneva Historical Society was very interesting as Geneva, NY was itself. While we didn't go out to dinner alot(why leave?) lunches were most pleasant-Bully Hill, Geneva on the Lake, Red Newt Bistro, etc. We had a goodly sampling of the area wineries, but leaving enough of them to require a return visit! You obviously love your cottage, as evidenced by the care that you have lavished on it. I hope that you will keep it as delightfully simple as it is. With Best Wishes, Val and Patsy Sauri Philadelphia, PA

09/15 - 09/17/2006 Dear Bud and Roseann What a wonderful weekend! We had an Octoberfest(in September). With many German dishes to great German music. We toured a winery and visited the Windmill. Our primary goal was relaxation and fun....we met that goal many times over. The weather was great - sunshine both days and no rain! This cottage is so very cozy and decorated with taste. Everyone loved the deck - just watching the world go by. Many Thanks! "The Honeoye Crew" Lynn and Carolyn Gorton Lori White and Tom Gendreau Guy and Cindy Ward

August 20-27, 2006 Thank You so much for the "Journey's End" experience. We had just the right blend of busy and relaxation. Jude This was a great week with the new experiences with the Kayaks. The fishing was great even though we only caught one fish. We had great weather with only one day of rain. Even though it rained it gave us a chance to go to the Corning Museum of Glass. The other great place was the Windmill. We had great food there. Evan This place was great. It was clean and very nice looking, and it was the perfect vacation. We were never bored! This was my first time at a lake and I really enjoyed it. Mark
