The panoramic views of Kailua town and Enchanted Lake are amazing every time you step outside onto the wraparound lanai or look out its large windows. The cottage is clean, bright and airy, lit by skylights, and cooled from trade winds. Relax and enjoy your vacation in our quiet neighborhood away from all the hustle and bustle of Waikiki for a much better value driven price!
Built in 2002, this is a standard 2 bedroom, 2 bath cottage has approximately 1300 sq. ft. of cozy living space and is furnished with elegant elephant bamboo furniture (a renewable resource), and energy efficient appliances, e.g. refrigerator, dishwasher, washer and dryer. You can use the coiled electric stove in the kitchen, or use the new stainless steel grill on the lanai for cooking.
***Please note*** The cottage is accessible only by stairs. The stairs start with 5 steps that lead to a 30 ft. landing, 4 steps that lead to a 10 ft. landing, then 12 steps that lead to the house.
Master bedroom has a queen bed and en suite bathroom with jetted tub, television, ceiling fans, a/c, and a sky light.
Guest bedroom has 4 twin beds; Two twin beds can be converted to a king size bed with a comfortable memory foam topper mattress, ceiling fans and a/c.
The dining table seats 4 comfortably with 2 seats at the breakfast bar.
The large lanai has two high dining table that seats 8 to relax and enjoy the views, and a stainless steel gas grill for you to enjoy outdoor meals.
There is a large pool with a slide for the adventurous, an outdoor 7-person hot tub for those seeking to relax, and outdoor shower.
There are lots linens, bath and beach towels available.
The cottage is completely separated from the owner-occupied main house, located on the same property. The owners have two friendly black-lab mix dogs who are 4 years old that reside poolside by the main house. The dogs are gated in the pool & hot tub patio area and are not allowed to access the guest house grounds.
We are family friendly with infants, toddlers, and children; we try to stock the cottage with amenities to make your stay safe, comfortable and fun.
The property is located about 2 miles from the two 'Best Beaches' in the world, Kailua and Lanikai Beaches. Kailua is famous for its water sports and we have lots of toys to help you stay in the water. Various beach toys like blow-up matresses and rings, beach mats and beach chairs may be available for your enjoyment. For an additional cost, we also have surfboards, kayaks, windsurfers, masks and snorkels, and kitesurfing gear available. Let us know how we can make your vacation the best ever!

The condo was wonderful. Clean, spacious, and with all the ameneties you need. We had ample beach chairs, toys and a cooler. The rooms are bright and clean, plenty of towels and wi-fi. The view was wonderful and the dogs are so sweet. We would definitely stay there again. And, it's on the quite side of the Island which is a huge bonus! One thing - I would not recommend if you have trouble walking up stairs because there are quite a few (not an issue for us).Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We liked the house very much. It was nice to come back to such a quiet place to wind down from all the attractions in Oahu. The rental was clean and better yet, we did not see one bug in the house. The view was pretty and the pool was great. The owners were nice and we hardly ever saw them so it was like they weren't there. It was good to know they were though and did help us out when we needed propane. The one thing I would have liked is a more cozy couch. So when your only complaint is that, it is a great vacation home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I agree with the previous posting. The facilites are not as new as they appear in the picture. We had issue finding where to enter the residence as we arrived at night. We also had issue navigating the stairs at night. Both me and my 60 year old mother in law fell on the stairs . The lighting is not adequate. We did enjoy having full use of beach items. Which came in very handy. Our kids enjoyed the pool and meeting the owners son.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children.

While the description provided on this site was fairly accurate and the price was right, we had some concerns. First the positive aspects: well- stocked kitchen and lots of linens (though we had to fold the laundry that was left in the dryer prior to our arrival). Lots of beach items (snorkels, boogie boards, chairs, coolers, etc.) were available for our use. The rooms are open, airy, and bright. Appliances were in good working order. Our concerns were the noise in the master bedroom from the neighbours, some areas were not so clean (some dishes were dirty as were the inside of drawers), and there was poor lighting up the stairs when returning at night. The unit could really be enhanced with more comfortable seating on the lanai (currently 2 semi-circle high tables neither of which comfortably seat 4) and a more suitable dining room table instead of the woven bamboo table currently available which was hard to clean. We all 4 loved our stay in Kailua and would like to return to the area. The beach truly is magnificent!Recommended for: Pet owners.
Owner response: Mahalo for your review. We appreciate all feedback as we believe we can make our rental better only if our guests let us know what they think about the cottage. First, we apologize that towels were left in the dryer, that only happens when we have a same day check-out/check-in, so the cleaners basically run out of time to do all the laundry by the 4pm check in time. We appreciate your help in folding the last load of towels. The noise the next door neighbors make has been a recent concern for us, as there has been rotating renters every 6 months. Admittedly this last set has been noisy late at night, and we shall be more vigilant in calling the police to get them to follow the noise laws. The motion lights broke down recently after a good 8 years of use and have been replaced with new solar powered motion lights to better light the stairs to the cottage. As for the lanai furniture, most of our guests enjoy the higher seating to see the view over the lanai rails, so at this point we will keep the lanai furniture as is. We are hesitant in putting out even outdoor furniture on the lanai as it is quite wet in Kailua, and mold tends to build easily on everything. We apologize if you feel that the furniture wasn't so comfortable. The dining room table had a glass overlay once, but a former renter broke it using a baby seat on it, and it costs $800 to replace. Unfortunately, we felt bad about charging the new family, so we left the table as is without the glass overlay. We now charge new renters the Damage Protection insurance for such occurances. However, we plan to epoxy over the bamboo to make it a smooth surface and easy to wipe the next time the cottage has no renters. We hope the changes that we make will enhance the stay of future renters. Again, we appreciate the feedback.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property - it offered us a real peaceful stay with access to all the island had to offer without needing to endure the "disneyland" aspects of Honolulu. Kailua provides all the qualities of the island paradise and the owner provided all the water toys we could image. Easy access to the highways to get around the island. The property is well maintained, clean and everything worked - they must have an excellent handyman! The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had all the desired appliances and utensils. We used the BBQ most every night and the pool was very nice after spending the day in salt water. I highly recommend this property!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

I can't even begin to describe what a great place this cottage turned out to be! As soon as we walked in the door, we felt like we were home. The place is super clean and has everything we needed. The location is centrally located on Oahu in a quiet "local" neighborhood. There were six of us, yet we never felt crowded. Loved hanging out on the spacious lanai with the magnificent view of Kailua; using the huge grill to cook; Foodland is close by for our daily "poke" snack; all the beach accessories (chairs, cooler, towels, etc.) provided were an awesome convenience, although we bought some snorkels at WalMart, but donated them to the house since we had no room in our luggage to take home; love your dogs, who are very quiet and friendly, always greeting us as we walked up the stairs; loved waking up to the sunrise shining into the second bedroom ... Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet you, but Mahalo for perhaps our best trip to Hawaii ever!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

What a lovely location to rent. The views were exceptional. The house was wonderful. We did not get the opportunity to meet Arlene, but did meet Josh and Adam. Although my husband has walking disabilities, he was still able to manage the stairs. The dogs are very well behaved and to our knowledge never barked while we were there. We just can't say enough about how great this rental was.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Mahalo Kathie! Sorry I didn't get to meet you while you were here, I must've been working a lot! I think I saw you reading your books with the dogs once, they love having the company. We generally try to give our guests as much privacy as possible, at the same time we try to make ourselves available should you need anything. Thank you so much for the great review, we really appreciate it, and we hope to see your family again in the future!

Wow, what a wonderful home! We have rented 6 houses in the Kailua area ( within my family ) and all thru VRBO. This house was by far the cleanest and most accommodating for children. Aside from the 100% accurate description on VRBO I can tell you this; the owners are lovely people to deal with, the dogs are silent and lovable, the pool and hot tub are wonderful, the kitchen is very well equipped, there are tons of towels, beach toys, etc...and the BBQ (grill to you Americans) and all appliances are terrific. The house was the cleanest we've had yet! We are mom, dad, and 2 little girls ages 3 and 6. The location is great (feels like you're in a treehouse), the stairs were only an issue when we were hauling the suitcases in on arrival. Otherwise, not an issue. Great neighborhood, nice neighbors, and a veery sunny yard by the pool! (a bonus as no pools are heated in Hawaii (that we've found) so you need the sun. The house pool was warmer than any Waikiki hotel pool hands down! We honestly can't say anything bad about hale ona honu! Great hous, great price, well equipped, I also found a high chair, stroller, exersaucer, baby bath and baby toys in the house. I would recommend this house to anyone! Couples, families, everyone! Mahalo for a wonderful stay! We hope to see you again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

House was exactly as stated. Beds were extremely comfortable, plenty of towels, kitchen supplies well stocked. Neighborhood was quiet, property grounds were clean. Swimming in the pool was a great way to end the day. Dogs friendly, and quiet. We loved our stay there and wished we could have spent more time. If picking between the two local beaches, Kailua or Lanikai, go with Lanikai it was much less crowded and perfect for young children. Thank you Arlene and Josh, we plan to come back again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
