Located in the historic Town of Surry, this beautiful 1902 Victorian home offers old world charm with modern amenities. Featuring five bedrooms, three and a half baths, a formal living room, dining room, spacious kitchen, den, screened porch and large yard, this is the perfect home for a large gathering or family vacation.

The first floor bedroom has a queen size bed and a private bath. The four upstairs bedrooms feature a king, a queen and two double beds. One of the upstairs bedrooms also has a single sleeper sofa. There are two full baths upstairs. The den has a double sleeper sofa. The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware and utensils. Linens and towels are provided. The house sleeps 13.

The Town of Surry offers basic amenities including a small grocery store, a florist, gas stations, convenience stores, banks, and several restaurants. The house is conveniently located just four miles from the free car ferry to Jamestown and Williamsburg. After a 20 minute ride across the beautiful James River, the ferry docks one half mile from Jamestown. Once across the River, visitors have easy access to Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, Williamsburg Winery, Busch Gardens, Water Country USA, the Williamsburg Pottery, Prime Outlet Malls, and several championship golf courses.

The Town of Surry also is rich in history. The courthouse contains one of the most complete collections of original county records in America, dating back to the 1600s. Also nearby: Smith’s Fort Plantation, the site of the fort begun by John Smith in 1609; Bacon’s Castle, the oldest documented brick house in English North America and famous for its role in Bacon’s Rebellion; and Chippokes Plantation, one of the oldest working farms in the country.

For recreation, guests can visit Chippokes Plantation State Park, located only six miles from the house. The 1,683 acre state park features a swimming complex, visitor center, picnic facilities, hiking & biking trails and riverfront beaches. Additionally, Hog Island Wildlife Management Area, located just a few miles from the house, offers 3,908 acres of wetlands, fields and pine stands available for bird watching, fishing, hiking, and scheduled game hunts. Also nearby is College Run Farms, a pick-your own farm featuring some of the area’s finest strawberries and other seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Additional sites of interest include the James River Plantations and Historic Smithfield. Richmond is an easy one-hour drive to the west; it offers a wealth of historic sites and cultural events. Virginia Beach, an hour’s drive to the east, is another perfect day trip for guests.
