Jaco house description
This LUXURY BEACHFRONT home is located on one of the best surfing beaches in Costa Rica! This home is so close to the beach you can hear and see the spectacular sight of these sought out waves crashing on the beach. You will have the opportunity to enjoy daily strolls or jogs on this beautiful and clean beach or swim in our pool. You can relax and enjoy the breath-taking sunsets each evening.
This AIR CONDITIONED home is less than six years old and is approximately 2,800 square fee. It is located in a new gated development with security.
We also have a 4 bedroom home, 3 houses down (still on the beach) that can be rented for larger groups needing 2 houses. It can be viewed at VRBO listing #60800. There is a same style 3 bedroom home right next to this house with only shrubbery separation us, so you could have up to 16 people between both houses! It's like having two houses on the beach on one large lot with two huge pools. We can send you pictures of the two houses. Just ask. This is a great way for a larger group of people to enjoy famous Playa Hermosa.
The FLOOR PLAN is large and open. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed. The second and third bedrooms have a double and a twin bed in each. For your convenience, there is also a washer and dryer located in the home.
The KITCHEN is spacious, with granite counter tops, and includes a large side-by-side refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, etc. There is plenty of room to sit at the counter in the kitchen or you may want to enjoy eating out by the pool while watching the waves crash on the beach or the spectacular sunsets. You may want to keep up with what is going on back home with our high speed internet. The house has just been freshly painted May of 2013 if you don't reconize the new exterior color.
To help you get settled in for your stay, we have a wonderful HOSPITALITY professionals to greet you for your check-in and provide a customized welcome basket, maps and brochures tailored to your needs. They can help you with: tours, directions, horse- riding, surf lessons, whitewater rafting, canopy tours, and restaurant recommendations. They will be your contact throughout your rental time.
HANDICAPPED FRIENDLY. The house and yard are handicap friendly. There are no steps and the doors and hallways are wide.
HERMOSA BEACH, where this home is located, is a world-class surfing beach that hosts international competitions. Since the waves can be enormous, surfers from all over the world seek out this beach everyday. Even if you don't surf, it is very entertaining to watch the waves and surfers.
Located at the Northern end of the beach, there are several 'Beach Boy' style bars and restaurants. You can relax, watch the surfers, and enjoy the sunsets.
At the southern end of the beach, is a TURTLE PRESERVE. During September to November, the turtles come and lay their eggs, volunteers come help move the eggs to a safe place. The volunteers take care of the eggs until they hatch. We were able to help release newly hatched turtles into the ocean.
If you are a BEGINNER SURFER or booggie boarder, you will enjoy JACO Beach, which is located to the north only 10 minutes away. The waves here are milder. In addition, you will discover a wide assortment of restaurants, shopping, ATM/banking, internet cafes, nightclubs, bakery, pharmacy, medical services, churches, etc. in this town.
WILDLIFE can be discovered everywhere, even around our houses. Iguanas and geckos can be seen all around. For those with an adventuresome side, crocodile safaris are also available. If you stop by the Crocodile bridge (on your way to Jaco from San Jose) you can see 15-20 crocodiles in the river.
We highly recommend for you to experience a guided CANOPY TOUR! You are hooked up to a cable with the safety of a harness. As you travel along the zip line, you go from one tree platform to the next. It is quite a thrill! One of the best tours is only 5 minutes from the house.
In addition, you can further experience Costa Rica by bird watching, sea kayaking, white water rafting, visit national parks, or relax in the hot spring pools located by the volcano, a 3-4 hour drive.
You can arrange to have your kitchen stocked with food for your arrival or arrange maid/ cooking services.

Great getaway on the beach!!!
Great getaway on the beach!!!
What a wonderful beach house. The pool was perfectly clean, crystal clear and refreshing. Just a few steps away was the beautiful beach with awesome surfing. The layout of the house was perfect for a family with a large living area and plenty of room for a large number of guests. The living room was open to the large patio area with a BBQ that looked out to the ocean. It was obvious that the house had been recently renovated and was in great shape and looked wonderful. The management staff was very nice and extremely helpful. The thing I enjoyed most was that the home was on a nice quite road away from the hustle of Jaco, yet just like 5 minutes away. There was also several restaurants just a minute or two down the road. I would definitely stay here again. This home made for some great memories of our 11 night stay. P.s. I would also definitely recommend Zuma car rentals as they were extremely easy to work with (and get the GPS)

I was surprised and a little saddened to read the grossly exaggerated negative review of Casa Dolphin. It's impossible to keep up with the abuse of the house by some renters as each comes and goes. As a 4year repeat renter of this home I think the beds are first rate, firm and comfortable. The linens are clean and matching. The furniture is rattan and has a beachy feel. As for the lizards that's true, it's Costa Rica... they are everywhere. This house is located directly on the ocean and from the front door has an amazing view of the Costa Rican mountains. This is one of the main reasons we have come to this house for 4years, the location and proximity to nature! Casa Dolphin has everything we look for in a vacation rental and we will be back next year for sure!

Owner response: I am so happy to hear you are enjoying the house and the Costa Rican life style at the beach! It is very important to me that each and every renter is satisfied and enjoys their vacation to the fullest. We are striving in every way possible to make this home a destination dream vacation spot as it has been for many of you that continue to return. We appreciate your continued support over the years and welcome recommendations as you see them. We will continue to improve the house and the grounds to keep the high standards you deserve. Have a wonderful stay and feel free to let me know if there is anything at all that I can do for you.
The location and the grounds/pool at the home are beautifully kept and were enjoyed by all for multiple hours everyday of our stay. The home however was a completely different story. The house.. your advertisement stated a "Luxury House" however what you have is a ruined down dilapidated home that is furnished like an old dumpy surf shack with absolutely no repairs or upgrades done to the home in years. The smell of mold and urine could be found in nearly every room of the house. All linens had seen better days and were stained and thin, the beds are stained and uncomfortable. There are iguana's living in the eaves of the house due to rotted/neglected sidings/soffits. During our stay we were inconvenienced with broken items that either didn't work, broke, was repaired, broke again, repaired again and finally just given up on to allow us to move forward. The list of repairs/replacements far exceed the 2500 word allotment that VRBO is giving... To summarize our visit to Casa Dolphin.. had we not been so exhausted from the red eye flight, knew the area and spoke Spanish better- we would have cancelled our stay immediately and found another place, instead we chose to make the best of what we had. The owner did refund us a few bucks, but is was far below what is right. I would not recommend this home to anyone!

Owner response: I have 5 vacation rentals advertised here on VRBO. I started with my first one over 9 years ago. I have never had a negative review posted on any of my guest books. This is a first. I admit I personally have not stayed in this house in over a year. I was relying on the management company to tell me if the house needed new linens or if something was not working properly and needed replacing. I now have a new management company that has gone over the house inside and out and is in the process of taking care of bringing the house up to my high standards. Part of my love for the country has been the wildlife. We have even brought in special plants to attract these friendly iguanas that many people find much enjoyment in watching. My ultimate goal is to always have a satisfied customer. I felt bad that they were so unhappy that I refunded a substantial amount of money. I will be striving for nothing less than total satisfaction from all my future customers.
Great Vacation place
Great Vacation place
This house is in a great location for having a quiet restful vacation. We found the location put us close to activities without being in the middle of the typical resort areas. The ability to walk out the back door and walk to an endless beach that was all but private for you relaxation was outstanding. The house offers all the conforts of being home in a tropical paradise.

We were a group of two couples staying primarily for surfing. As previous owners of a home in Costa Rica, we were very familiar with the area in which we wished to stay. We had driven by this home dozens of times on previous trips and thought "wow, what a perfect location and setup!" - never imagining that one day we would be staying there! The layout and amenities of the house are wonderful - perfect for surfers or families here to enjoy the beach, with tile throughout. Cable TV and internet was 100 percent dependable, and there is an easy-to-use alarm system and round-the-clock security guard for added peace of mind. The home was equipped with everything we needed to prepare most of our meals, and the pool was wonderful also - having full sun exposure all day. We can't wait to return!

Owner response: Always enjoy hearing about how renters had a good time staying at our beach house. We try to keep the house equipped like we would want it. Hope you are able to make it back again soon.
Great Family Vacation
Great Family Vacation
My family and I have stayed here twice, and we look forward to staying here again in the near future. The house is in a perfect location. It's off the main road, so everything is quiet and still and you feel like you are the only ones enjoying the breathtaking sights and sounds of nature. But, just 15 mins up the road you will find restaurants, shops, zip line tours and anything else you want to do in Costa Rica. My family did it all and relaxed, too. We enjoyed many evenings cooking our own meals in the kitchen then swimming under the stars while listening to the ocean waves, while other nights we stayed in town to eat a restaurant. There were so many to choose from we never ate at the same one twice. During the days we went on zip lines, and tours and boogie boarded. It really was fun for our whole family. I would recommend this house to anyone going to Costa Rica.

Owner response: Thanks for sharing about your trip. Your information will be helpful to future renters.
We stayed at the Dolphin House for 2 weeks and it was MAGICAL! We enjoyed the sound, sight and smell of the ocean while we relaxed in hammocks reading or swam in the pool. It is on a very quiet road and stretch of beach, yet it was perfectly located to easily get to Jaco for shopping, tours, and restaurants in less than 15 minutes. Just 2 minutes down the road are some delightful oceanfront restaurants, including Vista Hermosa and a Pizza/internet place we loved. The house was comfortable, spacious and had everything we needed, including some of the comforts of home like a dishwasher! We even enjoyed watching some movies on the cable channels in the evening when we were exhausted from riding the zip-line, snorkeling, climbing waterfalls, four-wheeling and hiking through the rain forest and snapping endless photos of monkeys, toucans, sloths, and SO MUCH more. Susan is so efficient and great to work with. She even sent us lists of "What to see and do" and a notebook full of great ideas and places to visit. Check in and out was very easy. It was awesome!!

We had a wonderful time staying at your lovely beach house. Not only was it a very comfortable place to stay, but it was a treat to stay so close to the ocean. We could even hear the surf from inside the house! We invited family to join us for a reunion and it ended up being the perfect house and location for everyone. Some enjoyed just relaxing by the pool or taking a stroll on the beach while the other more adventurous ones went zip-lining and surfing. We had fun at some of the restaurants in Jaco and it was always nice to return to our quiet home on the beach. And we got to see the scarlet macaws that live in the in the trees behind your house too. We all hope to return in the future and we would definitely want to rent your house again!

The house was great...all the modern amenities. Pool was great for the kids and the nearby beach was beautiful to take a walk on every morning and sunset. We were 3 families with 5 kids in total and it never felt crowded. I recommend this home to anyone who's looking for a house on Jaco Beach...it was close to everything!

About the owner: My husband and I are farmers in the central San Joaquin Valley in California. We mostly grow grapes and almonds. His mother is from Costa Rica. We have lots of cousins in Costa Rica. We fell in love with the country and the people. We bought this house when it came up for sale thinking it would be a good investment. We have 2 beach front homes in this area. We come down 4 or 5 times per year and wish we could spend more time in Costa Rica.
Why the Owner Chose Jaco:
We like this location because it is on the beach and you can hear the crashing waves pound the sand. It is a beautiful beach and always warm to hot. We found farther north up by Tamerindo was very dry and brown during the dry season, not what you are looking for when going to Costa Rica. This area is fairly green even in the dry season. It is only 2 hours from the San Jose airport on paved roads. The house is about 5 to 10 minutes from Jaco. Close enought to go for dinner or shopping, but away from the crowds to enjoy the beauty.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our house is not just in a beach front comunity. You are only steps away from the sand. Walk past your private pool and cross a little beach acess road and you are on the beach. It will seem like it is your own private beach. Build a bon fire, surf, explore the beach or take long walks on this beautiful beach.
