Our family rented this house from Mindy while we were in town for a wedding at Boone Hall Plantation. We had members of both sides of our family staying together, and we could not have asked for a better place for a mini-vacation retreat! The house was spacious and welcoming, with the best stocked kitchen of any house we have ever rented. The property was amazingly beautiful. The VRBO description of "our own little Gilligan's island" does not do it justice. We have young children, and they had the BEST time splashing on the beach when tides were low, and fishing off the steps and relaxing in the hammock when tides were high. The wrap around deck on the back of the house is set up for spending time outside, with numerous groupings of chairs, tables and swings - perfect place for adults to enjoy the beauty of the ocean! The location of this house is fantastic, and none of our group wanted to leave. While we are not avid vacationers to the Charleston area, and usually vacation in the Gulf of Mexico, we will definitely be back and calling on Mindy when we do return. I can't say enough good things about this location - Thanks for providing a wonderful, scenic place for our family to enjoy time together!
Owner response:Wow, what an awesome reveiew. Thank you so much for saying such nice things. I do try to keep my house well equipped, as it is nice having some of those extra things. I also love my house and I love sharing it with other groups that can really appreciate the warmth of our home and our spectacular views. Thanks agian, i am so glad that everyone had a wonderful time.

We just returned from a wonderful week's vacation at this lovely beachfront home. The views are spectacular, probably the best on Sullivan's Island which is what we wanted most and we were not disappointed. The house was clean, tastefully furnished, very comfortable and spacious. Mindy was lovely and quickly responded to any questions or concerns that I had before I even arrived. She greeted us when we arrived which is unusual in a rental house, it made it so much more personal and showed that the owner actually cared rather than the usual businesslike ordeal you have to go through in a rental agency. The wildlife viewing was wonderful; dolphins, blue herons, pelicans, and grackles were such fun to watch. We brought our own bikes and rode them right on the beach and the sand bar every day. Next time we come, we realize we do not even need to bring our own, as the house is well stocked with bikes. Our daughters' family came to visit us and brought young children. There was so much inside and outside of the house for them to keep busy and happy. We did loads of cooking, the kitchen facilities were very nice and well maintained. We went out to eat at Shem's Creek and then spent one afternoon in Charleston just walking everywhere. I would definitely recommend this property and Sullivan's Island to friends and families, it accommodates every age. I really enjoy off season at the beach, and it was perfect.
Owner response:thank you for such a nice review of our home on Sullivan's Island. I am so glad that you enjoyed the house as much as we do. We would love to have you back.

We had a wonderful time and would like to thank Mindy for her kindness - We rented the house for one week - Our three children and their families were all able to come although everyone was not there at the same time - The house can accomodate six adults and four children very comfortably. It is very close to Charleston so there is a lot to do and see - Our granddaughters ranged in age from 2 to 6 and had a great time on the beach. The porch is gated and provides security but when you have little chldren they have to be watched since you are right on the water. We found the house to be clean and in excellent condition. We would love to return again.
Owner response:Thank you very much for the wonderful comments about our home. We would love to have you back. October is a great month to be in Charleston, as I think the weather is wonderful. MIndy

This house has it all! I had a group of 12 staying at this house. We found the accommodations to be well suited for our needs. The house was clean, comfortable and great for large meals and time together. There is really enough bikes, beach chairs and kid toys for everyone The beach is unbelievable. Sand bars made great entertainment for building castles, skim boarding, watching kite surfers and taking long walks. It was hard to leave. Mindy was friendly and easy to set up house arrangements. We will be back!
Owner response:Thank you for the nice comment about our home, we would love to have you back next October

We stayed for a week when our son got married in Charleston last month. It was great to have a place to relax that week - everyone that come to stay or visit loved the house! From a brunch with 75 people to a small dinner party on the screened porch - the house was perfect for entertaining. We had plenty of tables and chairs as well as dishes, serving pieces, ect. to accomodate everyone. The views from the family room are spectacular - especially early in the morning - I miss that!. We loved walking on the beach and just relaxing on the deck. Can't wait to go back!
Owner response:Thanks for the great response. So glad the week worked out so beautifully. We would love to have you back.

We enjoyed our week at this home right on the beach on Sullivan's Island. Mindy was terrific to work with, and very accomodating. We're big cooks, and can say that the kitchen is terrific -- loved that fabulous fridge -- and well stocked with pots, pans, all kinds of amenities, and everything we needed to cook for the week, including starter paper towels and napkins. We loved the floor plan of this house -- two bedrooms on one side of the great room, two on the other. Loved the screened-in porch and the deck overlooking the ocean. We did not swim right at the bottom of the stairs, at "our" section of beach, because we'd heard about strong currents, so we walked (on the beach) three houses up to a public area we adored. We swam there in high and low tide. In low tide we swam to the sand bar from this location. Very gentle waves and great water. This was a very popular spot on the weekend! Lots of boats docked at the sand bar, and there were plenty of kite flyers and stand-up surfers and sailers. It was fun to bob in the water and just watch the activity. There are several bikes under the house -- we rode them everywhere. We hosted friends for two nights and celebrated my husband's birthday here -- baked a cake and everything. We had lots of fun. We found the house clean and comfortable. It's one of the few rentals I've found with a king-sized bed in the master bedroom, which is important to us. We loved the size of the dining room table and the great room. Loved the way the sun washed everything through the many sliding glass windows. There was plenty of room to be together as well as room to find pockets to be alone. Loved the master bedroom shower -- fabulous. We stay in the Charleston area for a week each fall and invite our grown children to the beach. We've stayed on Folly but like Sullivan's better, and this house gave us everything we needed for our family for a week. Thanks, Mindy!
Owner response:Thanks Debbie for your wonderful response about our home on Sullivan's Island. The currents at high tide are probably a bit strong but at a low and medium tide it really a great place to swim. Most of my tenant swim right from the beach at our step but I always tell people not to swim to the sand bar, as I don't feel it is safe. Come stay with us again.

We vacationed in this home for 1 week over labor day weekend 2010 and had our 4 grown boys come out for a small family reunion. Mindy has a lovely home and I was comfortably able to cook for 6 daily and there are many places to set up for breakfast, lunch and dinner with amazing views. Mindy was able to refer me to a local photographer and we took family pictures on the water there on her property. We live in beautiful lodge style home in Oregon and I was very comfortable with this properties' amenities and Mindy's helpful attitude while working out all arrangements. This property is beautiful and very warm...our family had a very comfortable stay here.
Owner response:Thank you Sherry for the wonderful comment about our home, we would love to have you back.

Thank you again for the use of your vacation rental. Our family had a wonderfully relaxing time the week of July 17. We have rented many oceanfront homes on the IOP, and have enjoyed them. Yours, however, is unlike most. The panoramic views are fabulous!!! The pictures I took & posted on Facebook, were spectacular. Many people thought we were on an island in the Caribbean. I also loved the "cottage" style of the decor inside the house. And, the price on the rental is a real steal!! I've been vacationing for 30 years at the IOP & every year the rental rates slowly have climbed upward, just like everything else. But the price on this house can't be beat, besides where else can you walk out just steps to the beach & have a hammock & Adirondack chairs waiting on you!!!
Owner response:Wow, That was really nice. I love the house also, and I am so happy to be able to share it with others, I work at making it special, thanks for taking notice.

I have vacationed on Sullivans with my family for the past 15 years or so at different houses and yours is our families favorite. The house is very tastful with everything you need and more and the location of the house with the views of the ocean is just awsome. It's so nice to be able to open the door and be steps to the water, or just sit on the huge deck and listen to the surf. I would recommed this house to anyone! Special thanks to Mindy for going over and beyond what was expected in making our stay so nice.
Owner response:Thank you so much for such a wonderful comments about our beach home, we are proud of our home, and we love sharing it with others, so they can have a great experience also. Would love to have you back. Don't wait to long if you want to book July, as I have been getting alot of summer request. mindy

My family stayed for a few days before my son was married in Charleston. The house was just what the doctor ordered to relax before all the festivities in town. The view of the ocean is spectacular and we spent most days on the beach enjoying all the water activities. The house was clean and had everything we needed to be comfortable during our visit there. Mindy greeted us upon our arrival and we thank her for the great pizzeria recommendation. We would highly recommend this getaway to anyone and hope to get back soon.

Hi again and thanks Mindy :) We were thrilled to be back on Sullivan's Island and back at our favorite house ON the beach. The beds and furniture..inside and out..are still so comfortable and the beach is still beautiful, calm and perfect for our young girls. We took long walks on the beach starting up where they filmed parts of Dear John and never came across a house we'd rather stay in. A couple tips: go to Poe's..it is so close to the house, you'll probably want to go more than once its so good..have the chips with fresh salsa and guac and a burger..one word..yum :) and ride the Thriller out of Charleston..fast..fun..and wet! The owners of the boat are super sweet. We've definitely found our yearly vacation spot. Thanks again for sharing your house with us Mindy and being so friendly and easy to work with..we'll see ya next year :)
Owner response:thank you so much for your wonderful recommendation. We love our home also, and feel it's a great place to vacation with familes and with friends. Sullivan's Island and our home is very special, and we would love to have you back at anytime, and thank you for always leaving our home so clean.

My wife and I have rented this home on two separate occasions and loved it both times. We're sad to see that it's already booked this year for dates we would have been able to go. The porch is huge, wraps the whole house, and you can sit on it and enjoy the ocean breeze and the sound of the waves hitting the rocks, which is an experience you may not have at other oceanfront homes on Sullivan's Island, many of which are much further from the beach. The hammock is perfect for napping and there are stairs down to what is essentially a private beach where there are only small waves due to the sand bar just off shore. The calm water made an excellent place for our 3 year old to play in the sand and wade, but you would not want to swim out past the rock barriers because of the strong current from the channel. When we wanted larger waves, we would walk a little further south. The extra large fridge was a nice touch when we had extended family staying with us. The amenities were more than adequate -- everything was clean and functional. Overall the reason we most enjoyed this house was its proximity to the sea and that's what really makes it stand out.

View was great! Swimming is dangerous because of currents in this area. House was not very clean. Visible mouse traps and warning from owner that they previous tenants had seen them. UGH!! Linens were cheap rental linens and quilts and bedding were worn and tattered. Pillows were old, stained and disgusting. For over 5000 for a week we expected a little more attention to detail. Not very well stocked either. Yard had blue tarps over piles of dirt. Landscaping desperately needed.
Owner response:I did not have anyone stay at my house under the name for April 24, 2010. My house rents for $2995 during April, so I don't know who they paid $5000 to, but it wasn't me, my home is competitively priced for the area, and the home. My house is extremely well stocked so I have no clue what they are talking about. I only have 51 Palm Trees in the Yard, and a hammock looking over the ocean, and the yard is maintained, but certainly not in perfect condition. But it does sound like they stayed there and I will take care of the things they commented on. Maybe I made them mad or something but usually I have great comments on my house and my house is very Clean as I am there with my housekeeper to clean it. All house especially at the beach have had a mouse or two especially if you keep food out on the counter over night, but my house doe not have any serious mouse or bug problems. My home is sprayed every month. The currents are strong on Sullivans Island at High tide, but I have never had any problems with anyone staing at the house, even with small kids, but I do warn my tenants to be be safe. The rental linens, do come from a rental company and I will pass that message on to them about the cheap linens, but they happen to have very nice towels. I will remove the tarps as they don't look very good. I will get new pillows for the ones that are stained but the mattresses are only 5 years old and they are in good shape. I will take care of what they commented on. I have alot of repeat tenants, and I have excellent comments on my house. My house is also not priced to be a home in perfect condition or anything like a 6 star hotel, but it's comfortable, and nice, and has alot of great amentities. I am wondering if they are the people that I asked not to park in the middle of the lawn, as that did upset them. I have plently of parking enough for about 10 cars in the driveways. My home is an excellent rental, and also a very popular home to rent as it has been full from March through November with Extremely satistied rentors.

Thanks Mindy and family for sharing your home with us. We had the best week. Your spot on the ocean was just perfect for the girls..so calm and close! The gates on the porch were also very much appreciated..as we could relax and have our tea out there every morning. And the view..one word..WOW We fell in love with Sullivan's Island and very nearby Mt. Pleasant with lots of shops and restaurants. Also..one of the highlights of our trip..a private boat tour to Morris Island Lighthouse with Captain Gresh..just google his name..you'll find lots of nice comments and they are all right on :) Thanks again so much for your warm hospitality. We loved the area and your home and hope to come back next year!
