The Red Barn was clean, comfortable with a great indoor/outdoor space to enjoy the beautiful weather. We loved the location, with good food nearby. The owner/manager was very accommodating and helpful. We would definitely come back.

My wife and I have stayed here twice, both times with another couple, and both times we had an excellent weekend. It's got a nice open living area perfect for hanging about, drinking all your freshly purchased Sonoma wine, and playing cards or kicking back. All the amenities. Very comfortable. Good base camp for excursions.

This house is awesome - loved the artwork and furniture, and so clean! Will highly recommend - thank you! Other guests: We loved Hanzell winery/vineyard very close to here and absolutely beautiful - amazing views - need to make an appt, though. Spectacular - we kept saying, "Is this real?"

As a VRBO owner, I look at rental properties more critically. I am happy to report that the Red Barn met and exceeded our expectations! The pictures, description and communications were very accurate. We loved being within walking distance of the Fairmont’s Sonoma Mission Inn and on the nicer side of the Highway 12. It is around a 1 mile to the Sonoma Square where the restaurants, shops and tasting rooms are located. We choose the two bedroom Red Barn for the location. It was an easy walk to the hotel for dinner at the Michelin Star Restaurant, Santee, and to utilize the great spa. (Local tip for Marin and SF residents-call the spa ahead before you arrive and ask for the Good Neighbor discount at the spa and use the luxurious facilities for $39, receive a 20% discount off of food at the spa and Big 3 restaurant and off of spa services. IDs are checked to verify residency). The concierge assumed we were hotel guests and gave us complimentary passes to the hotel's tasting room at the Big 3. Cabs are very accessible from the Red Barn but call ahead or grab the cab at the Sonoma Mission Inn. The Red Barn is really cute, very clean and well stocked. The nice touches of the Sonoma Mission Inn spa bath products in the bathroom, gourmet kitchen (perfect for the chef in our group) and nice furnishings were appreciated. The ceiling fans were utilized during the warm October days (a nice treat from the Marin fog!). It was nice to park our cars in the garage and have access to the Wi-Fi. We enjoyed our morning Blue Bottle Coffee on the Red Barn deck thanks to El Molino and delicious Mexican food at La Hacienda. The Red Barn owner was very easy to work with and flexible to extend our reservation. The Red Barn is a great value for the accommodations and location. We will definitely be back and would recommend this property and the sister property to our friends.

We stayed here for a week in August for a family wedding. I was so pleased with the accommodations!!! The pictures definitely do represent exactly what you should expect, and being able to park our car in the garage was a perk. Our teenage son stayed with us for half the week, and then we were on our own for the other half. It is close enough to the center of town that groceries, restaurants, bike rentals, and all of the shops in town are all just a 2-5 minute drive away. There is a coffee shop, a breakfast place and the very posh Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa all within walking distance (for those looking for spa treatments, or in our case, for those who may have family staying there. During the week, we went shopping in St. Helena, wine tasting in Napa, ziplining in Occidental and a day of sightseeing in San Francisco -- all within about an hour away. It was great to be able to come home each night to a comfy bed. Would definitely stay in this home again, or possibly the Green house next door owned by the same people. Thank you!

My girlfriend and I spent a week in Sonoma and when booking the trip we knew this place was going to be to our taste, but I don't think we expected to enjoy it as much as we did. In fact we felt so comfortable and content in this house that we had a hard time finding reasons to go out at night. We had friends from Napa over for dinner one night and they were enamored with this place as well. The kitchen is wonderful and the patio area is ideal for relaxing meals in the morning and evening. The living room, dining area and bed rooms are spatious and wonderfully comfortable. The decor is all well thought out and charming. The garage, gas grill and washer/dryer also proved to be very useful bonus features. Also, if you know how to play piano there is one in the living area. :) The location was ideal for us because its tucked away and quiet while also being not far from a main road leading to the vineyards. There is a fantastic fresh fruit market within walking distance as well as good coffee houses and nice little mexican restaurant. Being from the big city my girlfriend and I found everything very easy to get to and we liked where this place was especially because its like having a little cottage of your own in a quiet neighborhood. Lastly I would like to add that our choice in staying here proved especially fortunate due to the graciousness of the owner and proprietor. We discovered we had left a bag behind when it was too late to turn back and B.J. and Jennifer were incredibly helpful in getting it returned to us within a day or two. Thank you again so much. Our entire trip was wonderful and we won't forget it, but the "barn house" was a big part of the entire experience. We hope to return again as soon as we can.
Owner response:Thank you so much for your kind words! Look forward to having you visit again. Thanks!

This property is amazing, peaceful and beautiful. It has plenty of room to cook, relax on the back porch and listen to the fountain next door. It is within walking distance to restaurants, and about 1-2 miles to the main plaza. It was clean, in great condition, and the owner made sure we had clean towels, and a very clean kitchen when we arrived. The bedding was also extradorinary, and many windows to let in lots of light and fresh air. We are definitely coming back! PS We reccommend doing the 17 mile bike and wine trail with sonoma bike rentals, just bring a pack so you can purchase wine along the way, also The Girl and the Fig restaurant is superb!
Owner response:Thank you D & S. It was a pleasure having you stay with us! Look forward to seeing you again!

We are nearing the end of our trip & none of us are ready to go. We'd like very much to move in & stay forever! The house suited our needs perfectly and we loved spending the evenings with a glass of wine on the patio, listening to the fountain from next door. We loved the shops around town & Amigo's restaurant! Coffee from El Molina Central down the street was a tasty treat. Frog's Leap Winery in St. Helena/Rutherford was our favorite stop. They have their tastings on their huge porch surrounded by their amazing gardens. Can't wait to come back!

This rental is the perfect size to accommodate 4 adults comfortably. It was a wonderful home to come back to after long days of wine tasting. The beds were very comfortable and the decor is lovely. The deck is perfect for sunny breakfasts and evening BBQ's. We visited the nearby Sonoma Market for "every day" grocery shopping as well as specialty items. We would highly recommend this house to anybody visiting Sonoma.

My boyfriend and I spent the past two weeks in the red Sonoma house. It was a perfect vacation spot!!! We could not have been more pleased with our experience. The property was beautifully maintained (completely spotless) and well stocked with anything you might need for an extended stay. It felt just like home. (Only much more relaxing!) The red house is the perfect place to kick back and enjoy beautiful scenery and a laid back atmosphere. Jennifer (property manager) was extremely helpful in preparing us for our visit, as well as readily available for any questions we had during our stay. There were pamphlets and information packets in the kitchen to help guide us during our vacation. This was our first Homeaway rental experience and the red house far surpassed anything we could have hoped for. It was adorable and comfortable and we will DEFINITELY be back soon. P.S. Jennifer also manages the green house next door. (Equally adorable!!!) We spotted it on Homeaway while checking red house availablity for our next stay in Sonoma. Fantastic wineries close to the house: Landmark Chateau St. Jean (Try the Reserve tasting!) B.R. Cohn We did a lot of cooking at the house. The food at Sonoma Market was so fresh and the house was very inviting. We loved cooking dinner at home and hanging out on the deck with a nice bottle of wine. Sonoma Market is about five minutes away. There you can pick up all your groceries and locally farmed dairy products and produce. EDK is a must visit in Sonoma Square. Their Sangria is crisp and delicious, made with all local, fresh fruit. YUM!!! If you are looking for the most perfect place to kick back, relax and enjoy beautiful weather, scenery and wine, the red Sonoma house is definitely the place for you!!! Enjoy =)

My recent stay was perfect. The location was close to everything, Just a short drive to so many wineries and quaint villages. We could tour all day and return to our perfect little hideaway. My bed was comfy, the kitchen was well equiped and the deck was a delightful hideway in the trees complete with relaxing bubbling water features. I would highly recommend this rental as well as the one next door, owned by BJ as well. As a first time renter I was very nervous but this cottage surpassed met my expectations. The pictures and description were absolutely acurate.

Our stay was perfect, the photos do not do this property justice. It is truly a magical place to stay and being surrounded by trees it was like living in a tree house. We were near downtown sonoma and near some great wineries. Great restaurants in Glenn Ellen-The Fig- and also in Sonoma - La Salette, Girl and The Fig, Red Grape etc. Though most nights we ate in as the deck was so comfortable and inviting. You are within walking distance to the Sonoma Mission Inn and also a great little coffee shop. Great markets down the road include Sonoma Market, Safeway Whole foods. Also Tuesday night farmers market in the square from April to end of October. Will definetly go back and stay again
Owner response:Hi Penny & Bill, We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to having you visit again. Best wishes, BJ

My husband and I just returned from two nights at the "barn". It is such a comfortable, beautifully decorated place with all the comforts of home to make your time in Sonoma a memorable one. It's a quick, easy walk to a great coffee shop, excellent breakfast spot and the Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa where you can get massages, pedicures, etc. We will definitely return to this cottage. It is clean, charming and an amazing value for the area. Thank you BJ for sharing your beautiful home with us.

My husband and I and another couple visited this home a couple years ago for our anniversaries. It was honestly the best vacation I have ever had, better than our tropical honeymoon! I can't wait to go back and visit again. What a trip to remember. As our anniversary approaches again, I just was looking at the house again and thought I would write a review! One night we skipped going out to dinner and just had wine and cheese on the deck and it was perfect! One piece of advice, make sure you have GPS, as it is kind of hard to find your way around the area...but there are wineries everywhere so you can't go wrong stopping at any one of them!
Owner response:Thank you so much for your review & glad you enjoyed your stay. Please do visit again! :)
