Location: Pelican Watch, Seabrook Island, Charleston Area, South Carolina, USA (On Ocean - 25 miles from Charleston)
Accommodations: Seaside Villa, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 2-4)
This well-equipped desirable top floor villa is located in Pelican Watch in the beautiful gated community of Seabrook Island - a barrier island located just 25 miles from historic Charleston. The island features beautiful ocean beaches for swimming and fishing, along with tidal marshes and meandering creeks, perfect for kayaking, bird-watching and crabbing.
The unspoiled, uncrowded, private beach is a mere three-minute walk via boardwalk from the deck of the villa. This second floor deck provides an uninterrupted view of the ocean and beach all the way to Privateer Creek. Watch the playful dolphins and shrimp boats glide by. With a western exposure, the sunsets viewable from the beach and the deck are spectacular.
Two bicycles with helmets are provided for biking on the three-mile beach or on the protected roadways on the island. Additional bicycles are available for rent. The bedroom features a king-size bed along with an additional TV.
The beautiful new Seabrook Island Club by the ocean is now open for dining in two restaurants. It is available to renters at a modest fee, provides two private championship golf courses (Ocean View and Crooked Oaks), world class tennis on Har-Tru courts, and an equestrian center. Other options for golf are close by. A state-of-the-art new fitness center with indoor lap pool and heated outdoor pool overlooks a lake where alligators often sun themselves.
A short distance outside the gate is the recently opened Fresh Fields Shopping Center which features Newton Farms,a complete gourmet and regular grocery store, along with a sporting goods store, a drug store, a liquor store, a book store and a restaurant among other shops. The Java Java Coffee Shop where wireless high-speed Internet access is available is a popular spot. Bohicket Marina is also just outside the security gate where boats may be rented for leisure, deep sea fishing or kayaking in the marshes.
Nearby Charleston is a city of museums, historic sites, a spectacular aquarium, carriage rides, antique shops, art galleries and many fine eating establishments. Three landmark plantations (Middleton Place, Drayton Hall and Magnolia Plantation) are close by and available for visiting.
