Rezzonico is one of the most charming villages on Lake Como. A castle right on the water side dominates the village, it has secluded beaches which you can only reach by foot or by boat, and a long bay covered with gravel grass. The lake is clear and clean good for swimming, sailing, surfing, etc. Rezzonico is self supporting with a few restaurants, small supermarket, bank, pharmacy.
For extensive shopping you go to Menaggio (four kilometres), a small village with a nice lively boulevard, ferry boat stop for crossing the lake (Bellagio is just in front of Menaggio), "nightlife," narrow streets with trendy shops, good restaurants and ice cream parlors. The oldest golf course of Italy is in Menaggio on higher grounds with a tremendous view.
Lake Como was "discovered" by the rich Milanese families last century and beautiful villas with enormous gardens cover part of the coastline, some of the villas are open to the public; visit Villa Carlotta, Balbaniello, Melzi in spring or summer!
Lugano in Switzerland at 30 minutes, Como at 35 kilometres., Milan at 40 minutes by train from Como, even Venice at four hours by car; you will have a too short holiday to visit the sights.

The views from this accommodation were as shown - spectacular. The living area and two bedrooms were also excellent with wonderful views. A car is a must to stay here. We must also mention some significant disappointments. First and foremost - this is not a 3 bedroom villetta. There is a 'bed' and wardrobe placed in an alcove downstairs which also serves as the walkway between internal garage access and the staircase up to the apartment proper. There is no privacy and it is stuffy with minimal light. There is also no washing machine available to guests so not so great for a summer holiday with lots of washing.

The villa is a very comfortable, clean and attractive property. The view from the terrace really is amazing. The local walks are interesting. You need to learn to find the paths between the roads! You also need to look carefully to find the local shops which are quite well hidden. There are so many places to explore, one visit to this area will never be enough. The house presents a couple of difficulties: no washing machine - why not? You use all the hot water for washing anyway and it is inconvenient. The downstairs bedroom is a little too spartan. All double beds is an evident problem for families. We took a camp inflatible - not ideal, particularly as the house is not cheap. Also the advertised price seems to vary. We paid 1350 euros, plus cleaning and not including sheets. Why so expensive for wi-fi? It seems a small luxury to include these days. I would not reccomend the area to anyone with mobility difficulties. Parents with young children would have to be aware of the height of the terrace and the open stairs. Not sure all the neighbours are holiday makers - we felt somewhat restricted by proximity to a very quiet older couple. After all, a family is a family and noise is inevitable. Moaning aside, we loved our holiday. Italy is very special.
