My husband, 12 year old daughter, and I spent a wonderful week at The Best Marathon House during our spring break vacation. We had a wonderful time, and the house was everything it was advertised to be. We loved the pool and hot tub, and the view of the canal was beautiful. The interior of the house is set up well. Manny and his wife also had a great selection of DVD's, and we watched a movie most nights. The kitchen is updated with everything you need--we ate breakfast and lunch each day at the house, and even cooked a few dinners too. Manny also provides a comprehensive booklet that gives information on local attractions, beaches, and restaurants. Even though my family doesn't fish, we found lots to do every day that made for a special and memorable vacation. The house was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the linens were nice. We enjoyed having the washer and dryer to do a few loads of laundry. I would recommend this house to anyone visiting the Keys. We will come back to Marathon for a vacation in the future, and we plan on staying at The Best Marathon House again.

Awesome Vacation

My family and I spent a week at "The Best Marathon House" during spring break and we couldn't have asked for a better place to be. The house is in immaculate condition and has all the amenities you would expect to make your stay comfortable. There is a docking area for your boat, if you bring one. We spent time outdoors bird watching and relaxing by the pool and hot tub, which the kids enjoyed very much. The house is conveniently located minutes away from Publix, Win Dixie, gas station and K-Mart. It is also very close to parks, playgrounds, Sombrero Beach and the Dolphin Research Center, which is a must see if you are bringing children. There are a couple of nice restaurants closed by to enjoy with your family and/or friends with options to eat indoors or out, overlooking the turquoise waters of the Atlantic. If you don't mind exploring further away, feeding the Tarpons at Robbie's Marina (Islamorada) is an unforgettable experience. Last, I would encourage a trip to "Cayo Hueso" my favorite city in South Florida. Key West has a welcoming atmosphere that brings you back in time. It is beautifully maintained and very picturesque. You can walk the streets or take one of the tour rides offered on the trolley or train. There are many good restaurants to choose from as well as a variety of gift shops. Overall, The Best Marathon House, not only provides you with all of the comforts you would expect to make your stay memorable, but its convenient location allows you to explore the Florida Keys without breaking your bank. Manny and his wife went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and were extremely helpful to us. On our first day, my husband lost his way back home while bringing the boat from the marina and Manny did not hesitate to go out on his boat to rescue him, for which we are very grateful. I recommend "The Best Marathon House" to be your first choice to consider when planning strip to the Florida Keys, believe me, you will not regret it. Wonderful Vacation

This was the best beach/boating house I have ever rented. The house is truly conformable and includes all the amenities you can find at home and more; there is an ice maker, fryer, BBQ, and big freezer for your fish. It is very clean, well maintained, organized, and inviting. The photos posted can not possibly capture the beauty and comfort of this home. The canal is well marked coming in or out; even at low tide there is plenty of water to get your boat back home or out to the ocean. Please follow the coordinates provided by Manny, the owner, to find the channel. I got lost trying to find the channel the first night and Manny, who happened to be there, put his boat in he water and rescued us from a long night in skinny water. Today, I consider Manny a friend. He was very helpful answering all our questions. Sombrero Beach and Key are excellent amenities. Captain Hook marina is a nice place for bait, tackle, and info. I am looking forward to a summer week in this home. I would definitely recommend this home to my family or friends. Thank you again Manny. Hope we can go fishing together in the future, Elio

Wonderful for a family of six

Best Marathon House was the perfect place for our family to stay on our winter vacation. The house was spacious, spotless, and included everything we needed. The kids absolutely loved the pool and hot tub. We had so much fun catching fish off the dock, and we even saw a manatee. Although there are many houses nearby, the spot was very peaceful and relaxing. The house is also very close to everything we wanted to do, including Sombrero beach, the Dolphin Research Center, snorkeling tours, various restaurants and shops, etc. We would definitely visit again. Thanks Manny and Elena!

Amazing, clean and well-stocked house on Marathon Key

This place had everything you could possibly need. It was spotless when we arrived. Everything, including the free WiFi, heated pool and hot tub worked perfectly. The linens and towels were clean. The pool was clean and refreshing. The kitchen was loaded with all the dishes, utensils and appliances you need. We literally just had to buy food. The location is great on a quiet residential side street but within just a few minutes drive to grocery stores, restaurants and bait/tackle shops. The best surprise was when were visited by a family of manatees that swam up the canal right to the deck behind the property! I would highly recommend this place to families with children. We had kids ages 10 months to 10 years with us and they all enjoyed their stay and we felt very safe at this location. The owner was very responsive to our questions and answered them promptly.

This was a very clean, comfortable home away from home, located in a quiet, relaxing neighborhood. It has a great set-up for fishing, and a nice pool and hot tub. Definitely considering a return visit next year.

The property was perfect for our group- 2 couples and a single. It was clean, well layed out with a great pool, spa, and boat dock. The best was the ice machine with unlimited ice. We look forward to returning next year to better weather since "Sandy" kept us off the water.

Great Vacation Stay

The house was just right for our weeks stay in Marathon. The rooms are decorated nicely, keeping with the tropical feel we all enjoy when coming to the keys. The house is well maintained and clean. Our group of six adults had plenty of room to enjoy inside. We had rented a 27ft. boat for the week and there was ample dockage for that. The pool and hot tub were a life saver after thoughts long hot days on the water. The provided ice maker and freezers where also a great benefit for keeping the boat drinks and catch cold. For boaters the access to the Atlantic and the gulfside through Vaca cut and the seven mile bridge was easy, although the access channel to the house was a little tricky at first, it's to be expected in the keys. Manny (the owner) was very helpful with a couple of small issues we had at first by just making a phone call. We will be renting this house again and I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxing stay and to enjoy all that the Florida Keys has to offer.

We stayed for two weeks in July (07/14/12-07/28/12) and this was by far the best vacation we have ever had. After thoroughly shopping for the perfect vacation spot for our family and deciding on this location we could not of been more happier. This home is truley what is says and so much more and is by far "the best bang for your buck" and you will not be disappointed. It truely has something for everyone to enjoy and was equiped with everything you needed to walk in and let the fun begin. Manny & Elena were very proffessional, friendly and have gone to great lenghts to provide the information on all the local attrations as well as a very clean rental property. We brought our boat, dive and snorkle equipment, bikes and used them all. We loved the convience of the commercial ice machine, outside bait refrigerator and frezzer which we used every day. If you are looking for a rental where all the little things mean a lot this home has it. We enjoyed snorkerling and diving Sombreo Reef, went to Key West for a shopping/parting day, enjoyed a full day deep water charter fishing trip with "Fins Up" ,had a great day on opening day of mini lobester season and celebrated my Inlaws "50th Wedding Anniversary and all I can say is "Wow" what a great time we had and memories that will last a life time with our family and friends. Ohhh and yes we will returning next year.

Fishing Vacation Trip in Marathon

The house and amenties are exceptional and very well maintained. The house is close to two boat ramps and has a dock accessable to the Atlantic. For our fishing trip, I was delighted that the house had a commercial ice maker, a separate outside upright large freezer for bags of ice and bait and a rod holder/sroarge center for rinsing/cleaning the 12 rods we brought for the trip. The hot tub and pool are in excellent condition. The kitchen, gameroom, outside Tikki bar and grill are top notch. I am looking forward to coming back and staying here again. JC

Our children are already asking if we can return to the Keys next year and stay in this house again. We have three children 8, 12, 15 and they had a blast. Perfect House for exploring the keys

This house is exactly as pictured and described. Feels like your home away from home. Sombrero Beach wasn't as nice as we thought, but we did thoroughly enjoy Bahia Honda beaches and Veterans Memorial State parks. We had no problems whatsoever with the house. We arrived a little bit earlier than the 3pm check-in and Manny was very courteous in letting us drop off our things and we actually just kind of hung around until the cleaning person was done. We were so happy to arrive after 25 hours of driving. Very nice of Manny to let us in early. I would recommend this house to anyone. There were 4 adults and 2 kids and we had plenty of room for everybody. We will definitely stay here again someday. THANKS MANNY!!

Late Christmas in the Keys

This house ended up being the ideal place for our family of 4 to get together for a late Christmas & New Year celebration. This house is equipped with LOTS....not to mention the pool...the whirlpool....a air hocky/pool table...and did I mention the pool :)...which is heated! Our stay came when the ocean was a bit cool but the pool was our salvation so we could still swim every day. The location of this house is ideal for Marathon visiting & Marathon is ideal for visiting the keys as a whole! If given the chance we would definitely stay here again :)!

Our family of 7 spent the most amazing week (the week before Christmas) at this lovely home. We played with the manatees right at our dock, and saw jelly fish, lobsters and more. The outdoors area was perfect for our family -- the "big kids" loved the pool, the "old kids" loved the hot tub. Both inside and out, the place was so well kept that we felt as if we were at a resort -- but we had privacy and it was affordable. Having the extras such as the ice machine, fish-cleaning station, covered picnic table and dock access made it so easy to do the thing we love most -- fishing. We can't wait to come back!

It is the Best House in Marathon!

My friends and I have been renting in Marathon for over 15 years. This home is Excellent! It is exactly as it is pictured and described on VRBO....even better. They have bags of ice for you, grills ready with gas for frying or grilling. The place is very clean and comfortable. The backyard (on the water) is a playground. Great pool and jacuzzi, Party hut and fishing off the back deck. They even had three rods and reels available. Give it a try...you will love it. the owner Manny is a wonderful person and available if you have questions when staying.

First time to visit in the Keys for us. Picked Manny's house to stay,(GREAT CHOICE!!).House was easy to find with Manny's directions.House was spotless and obviously well maintainted.Had all eating & cooking supplies we needed.Nice quiet neighborhood! Relaxing by beautiful pool & spa along canal was FABULOUS! Went to some local restaurants close by & had good food.Grilled food & ate by pool in the evening.Took a great drive to Key West & enjoyed Duval St. & entertianment @ Mallory Square.Went to Sombrero Beach close by to see sunset.BEAUTIFUL! My family and I just returned from one of the most relaxing vacations we have ever had. We have spent many weeks vacationing in the Keys, but this location, by far, was our favorite. The home has everything that you need to have a complete getaway. The house is quaint and comfortable. We spent most of our time though, outside by the pool laughing, eating and drinking cool beverages after long days on the ocean snorkeling, diving and fishing. The commercial grade ice machine is AWESOME to have for filling coolers and putting your catch on ice. Thank you so much for that! Easy access to ocean if you do have your own boat...it was outstanding. We were blessed with gorgeous weather the entire trip. The property owner (Manny) was accessible, honest and accommodating. This property was beautiful and affordable and will remain in our memories as one of the best vacations spots ever. We will most definitely rent again in the future.

We had reserved this beautiful home for our vacation this December. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we unfortunately had to cancel. I emailed Manny as soon as I saw we were not going to be able to go and it was right on the cusp of the contract deadline for a full refund of our deposit. Within just a little more than 24 hours from the time of my correspondence, he replied back that full refund was on its way. That is true customer service in my book and so much appreciated considering our circumstances for having to cancel. Because of his consideration and understanding, this is definitely a place we will keep high on our radar for a future vacation. Thank you Manny for being so thoughtful and kind.

Sweet!

This place was great! Perfect location. Place to keep our boat, which was great because many places in the keys charge to use their boat ramps. Minutes away from the protected Sombero reef. Saw alot of cool fish and coral reef. Did a lot of fishing and lobstering, brought home 28 mahi and 1 tuna in one day! Only 1hr away from Key West and all the people watching. Per my husband the "fisherman" the place is perfect for every fisherman... Team 'choot um' agrees! House was comfortable and has that tropical vacation feel to it. Everything you need is there. Grocery stores close. Couple of places to check out or stay away close by: Porkys Pub had terrible service, but we got a glimpse of a manatee. Salty's had good food and friendly staff. The Island Company had great conk fritters. We loved this place, it was everything we expected and more. Hope to visit again soon, would recommend to families or groups of friends.

Best House in Marathon

We've been coming to Marathon for over 13 years now. We've stayed just about everywhere on the island. This is absolutely the best house we've stayed at. You can't beat the location, ocean access, and I can't list everything the house has to offer. We had plenty of parking for vehicles and trailers, more than enough sea wall for dockage, and saved about $300 on ice thanks to the ice machine. We really enjoyed the pool in the afternoon after being on the water all day. It was nice to be in the shade having a cold drink. The other great thing is that you're only half a beer away from the ocean. Very quick access to offshore or backwater fishing, getting bait, fishing the flats, diving, spearfishing, or just a boat ride. It's only about 10 min. to sombrero reef. This house has something for everyone. It is set up for people who want to fish, boat, or just relax in paradise. Give it a try and you'll see just how hard it is to write a review listing everything this house has to offer. I'll be back next year!

This was everything we had hoped for. Nicely furnished and maintained, and exactly as advertised. For the kids there was the pool, dock for fishing and the air-hockey/pool table. The bait freezer, ice maker, dock, deep canal, and close run to the Atlantic was great for the fishing and diving. The jacuzzi was very relaxing in the evenings. And Manny was great , whenever we had a question about anything he was a phone call away. We are planning on returning again next year.

By Far The Best House In The Florida Keys

We are a group of firefighters that have been going to the keys since 1975 and have rented various houses, hotels, campgrounds, travel trailers, you name it. This year we came across this house on the internet and decided to give it a try. It was absolutely the best rental we have ever had. Clean, perfect location as you are close to everything, straight shot out to the fishing grounds, really enjoyed the pool and spa at the end of a long day of fishing. We have reserved the same dates with Manny for years in advance as we are done looking for a nice place to stay. If your looking for a clean house with all the comforts you could want, stop looking it just will not be beat. Enjoy your stay!!

This is our 30th time of staying on Marathon, but the first at this house. It is a beautiful house with a great location. Plenty of room to move . Good WiFi, huge TV, great dock with good fishing.Who could ask for more?. A great time for the whole family.

Truly the Best House

My wife & I just spent a week at Manny's house April 9th-16th with two other couples. We could not have asked for anything more. The house was as advertised, only nicer. Pool & hot tub were great, as was the dock area & fish cleaning table. We rented a boat from Tropical Boat Rentals for the week(also a class act), and spent every day on the water. This house is a perfect base to begin each days adventure. We caught Grouper, snapper, mackerel , barracuda, Mahi mahi & wahoo as well as an assortment of reef fish. This is also a great location if you are looking to dive or snorkel as you are within a short distance from Sombrerro Lighthouse & many other local dive spots. I would highly recommend this property if you have plans to be boating or if you just want to relax the days away in the pool. We've only been home for three days & we already miss it. Can't wait to go back. Thanks for an amazing week Manny!

We love Marathon!

We just spent 2 weeks, (Feb. 26 - March 12, 2011), at the Marathon House and loved every minute of it! The description and pictures accurately depict this rental, but it's even better in real life! Although there were 3 couples in our group sharing this house, we had more than enough room for all of us. We never once felt crowded. This house has all the amenities you could ask for. It is well kept, very clean, neat, and tidy. The hot tub is awesome and the pool was a life saver when it came to cooling off in the beautiful Florida Keys sunshine. We have visited the Keys numerous times over the past 23 years and this was by far, the most comfortable and enjoyable accomondations thus far. Marathon Keys is central to everything. Marathon itself has all you could ask for when it comes to shopping, (Sombrero) beach, restaurants, attractions, etc.. Be sure to visit the Turtle Hospital near the Seven Mile Bridge. They are doing awesome work there. Eateries we recommend are; The Wooden Spoon, Sunset Grill (beside Seven Mile Bridge), Key Fisheries, and Hurricane (awesome chicken wings)! Also be sure to walk the old bridge next to the Seven Mile Bridge, (2 miles each way). If you do this, check the water for Sea life and you may see a Manta Ray or Sea Turtle like we did. If you like fishing, The Marathon Lady, near the Vaca Cut Bridge, offers a very fun filled and successful fishing adventure. 5 of us caught 163 fish in about 3 1/2 hours. We were able to keep 1/2 of them, (in season). The only thing we regret is not bringing our "fishin' poles" for the canal behind the house. Janet and I are hopeful that we will be able to vacation here again in 2012. Thanks to Manny for letting us vacation in his wonderful home. Thanks too for being responsive to emails and any questions we had.

We were so pleased with our stay at Manny's home in Marathon. The pictures and description were perfectly accurate and Manny was very easy to work with. This house has everything you'll need to enjoy a care free vacation in the Florida Keys. The pool, hot tub and entire outdoor area were just lovely and really well maintained. The interior of the home was clean and nicely furnished - esp the kitchen, which has everything you'll need. (You will need to supply some of your own items - soap, laundry soap, toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags - but we didn't think this was a big deal as there is a Publix, Winn-Dixie and K-Mart super close.) The house is perfectly situated in The Keys! We went to Key West, The Everglades Nat'l Park, Bahia Honda Key/beach, Islamorado, etc. Make sure to check out the Dolphin Research Center on Grassy Key - that was very cool. We also took in the sunset one night on the walking bridge to Pigeon Key and it was simply gorgeous. If you're thinking of renting this house I would highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed!

Wonderful Vacation Home

We recently spent a week at this lovely house and enjoyed it very much. It's well maintained, clean, in a good location and offers a great deal of privacy. The house is even better than the photos and it has all the amenities you will ever need. Manny was very easy to work with and everything went smoothly. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a great getaway in the Keys! I you do stay in Marathon, I recommend you check out the fish tacos at Sparky's and the Lobster Rueben at Key Fisheries!

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

House was clean and furnished as depicted. Hot tub was wonderful during rather chilly weather for Florida! Location was good for the Keys, since we could get to Key West, snorkeling and party boat fishing right from Marathon. Be prepared to buy/bring ALL consumables, they have spices but no laundry soap, dishwasher or sufficient bars of hand soap. A bit much, especially since they asked us to start the laundry before we left. We have owned a beach rental and we would leave such supplies for people to replenish if they used them up. However, there were plenty of pots and pans and dishes. We did have a good time and it was a comfortable, relaxing spot, great TV room chairs and a huge selection of DVD's. It's a good arrangement for a family or multi-generations. If you go to Key West, be sure to visit the Butterfly House--it's awesome!

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We had a most delightful stay at Manny's home. It is in a beautiful location, close to everything. The home is even better than the description and pictures. It is very well maintained and clean. Manny is very helpful and a pleasure to work with. His communications are prompt, pleasurable and accurate. I would highly recommend this home to a relative or friend visiting the area. We would love to stay at The Best House the next time we are in the area. The house is in a great location. We visited Curry Hammock State Park, Sombrero Beach and Bahia Honda State Park. They are all beautiful and worth a visit. It is an easy drive to Key West, Key Largo and any other Key from this house. And, if you don't want to do anything, it is a great place to sit and relax. The swimming pool and hot tub are great. The sitting areas outside are comfortable and a great place to just sit around and talk! The house has everything you could ask for. We had a great time and wish to thank Manny for everything he did for us! We are hoping to make a return trip sometime in the not to distant future! Thanks again Manny.

We had a wonderful time at this home. We stayed 11/6/10 - 11/13/10. This is the best house! We had plenty of room and all the comforts of home. We caught fish off the dock and enjoyed the hot tub everyday! Also, a manatee came up to the doc and let us pet it and take pictures! A vacation we will never forget! Thank you to Manny for everything! Will stay again..hopefully next year.

I just returned from Marathon, and stayed a week in this wonderful house on the canal.It is absolutely beautiful and the pictures are an accurate portrayal of what it looks like.It had everything it said it had and more. Some great memories were made with family there. Hope to go back next year.

My husband twin two year olds, and another family of four all stayed in the house in August. We really enjoyed the house and it's location. It was everything Manny promised. I hope to be able to visit again next year!

I sent in a review with the wrong e-mail acct. I just want you to know that we had a great vacation staying in the house in marathon Keys. The house was in excellent condition, furnished nicely, kitchen well equipped. The weather was great. We would recommend this property to anyone., especially those with children.We will be looking forward to staying again. We didn't get to meet the owners but they were very helpful over the telephone. The directions they gave was right on the mark.Thanks again for a great vacation. Ronald and Friends

This house was perfect for our family fishing vacation. It was wonderful to wake up in the morning and have our boat right there. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. It is a perfect location as you are only an hour away from Key West if you want to go there for the day. There are also some great restaurants in Marathon too. I would definitely come back to this house!

We just returned from a week at Manny's house in Marathon, and we cannot rave enough about it. We were 4 adults, a 5 year old, a 2 year old, and a 6 month old, and we all enjoyed every minute of our stay. The jacuzzi was a lifesaver, as the weather was unusually cool. We were in it every day, and many nights. We all caught pinfish in the canal, and even had a visit from a manatee! We're planning at least 2 more vacations to this home and we're very much looking forward to it. This house is in a perfect location, and everything about it was perfect.

Our Family enjoyed a GREAT vacation Jan 2010 at Manny's home in Marathon Key! The house was very clean and meant all our expections! We loved the hot tub and pool and spend a large part of our vacation in Manny's back yard relaxing and enjoying family. Manny is a great host and very pleasant to do business with. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at this property during the third week of Dec, 2009. The house was spacious and accommodated our family of 4 adults and 2 kids comfortably. The house itself so comfortable that we had trouble stepping out for our daily activities. Marathon is a great home base for activities around the keys. Can't wait to return.

Just got back from spending 2 weeks in Manny's house (11/14-11-28). Even in our GPS we named it (The Dream House) I could write a book about how wonderful the house was. It was exactly as described and as shown in pictures and very clean and neat. House had everything a family needs for a weeks or a months stay. Outside (back) area is a little paradise on it's own - large pool and nice size spa, tiki bar, plenty of room for a family of 5-6. We had wonderful weather both weeks (80's and sunny) except one rainy day (we needed it for a trip to Key West). Manny was wonderful to deal with - e-mails were replied to in timely manner. House was located very close to Publix, K-Mart and some good restaurants. Huge outdoor grill saw it's share of use also. Thanks also for letting us use the freezer, ice maker and ice - it came in handy. If we EVER need a large house in the Keys again - Manny will be the first one to call/e-mail. Thanks again and again for letting our families to spend 2 fantastic weeks in your gorgeous house Manny.

We stayed May 29th through June 6th 2009. The house was fantastic. Plenty of room for all of us and the pool and hot tub were great. The house was very clean and had everything you would need. It is a short boat ride to Vaca Cut for bait and gas and there are lots of diving sites close by. We caught lots of fish and ate fresh fish every day. The kids enjoyed catching pin fish and Snapper off of the bulk head at the house. We liked it so much we have already reserved the house again for 2010. Thanks Manny!

This is our second year staying at this beautiful, relaxing home. We had everything we needed and more! The backyard arrangement is a great setup, so much so that you really don't even need to leave it to experience a great Florida vacation. Great ocean access and Manny's fishing advice was very helpful. Grocery stores are convenient to get to. The house and Manny are very welcoming and we would not stay anywhere else when visiting the Keys. See you next year if not sooner!

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful week's vacation at this house and can't say enough good things about it. Everything was well-appointed and comfortable. Outside was like a mini resort with its hot tub, pool and deck on the canal. And the inside offered a comfortable place to put up your feet and relax. Manny was very responsive and great to deal with. We'll definitely be back!

We stayed from 4/4 - 4/11 and loved it! The location is great, wonderful dock for our boat and the house was great! Very comfortable and relaxing -great access to the ocean and nice boat ride to Bahia Honda Key State Park! Loved the pool and jacuzzi, along with all the movies available in the house. We would defintely come back to stay! Thanks Manny! (Wish we could have caught some fish you have displayed!)

We stayed the week of March 31, 2009. What a great spot! Hours in the pool and jacuzzi- enjoying the sunshire and the gentle breeze off the Atlantic - and the fishing was great. I'm afraid we didn't have your luck tho Manny! Not to far to Key West, and a beautiful drive. Thanks so much - 5 stars!
