The LakeSide House at HI Point offers a very comfortable yet serene and private setting. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this may be the place. The site is uncrowded tranquil and secluded with lots of space yet not far from the excitement of Lake Michigan, Frankfort, Interlochen and Traverse City. Hi Point Guests have full access to the lake front and to the 38 acres of private woods with sand trails for nice long walks.
The Lakeside House is a modern open air home that overlooks a small lake (Glovers’ Lake) on one side and 40 acres of private woods on the other. The house was built using an award winning design that is spacious and compact. Designed by Canadian architectural group as a vacation home, it is modern, elegant and light filled. The house also features laundry room, family room, eat in kitchen and living room with stunning view of lake; elevated screen porch and deck; and beach level patio. It is a two story home with walkout lower level that opens to a porch/patio that opens directly onto sandy beach that is suitable for wading and swimming. The porch is a straight 25 feet walk to the water’s edge. The family room, eat in kitchen, living room; elevated screen porch and deck; patio offer great views of the lake and sunsets.
Glovers Lake is a place for relaxation and socializing with family. Breath the clean air and luxuriate in the quiet of the secluded woods. Enjoy the many glorious faces of the lake from sunrise to sunset With over a thousand feet of lakefront, it affords the privacy that a true retreat deserves. Savor the beauty of nature in this peaceful setting. Come enjoy Breezy summer nights or the spectacular Fall colors. This is perfect if you are searching and need a place to get away from it all and do not wish to be far away from everything. If you want you action can succumb to the allure of golf, shopping, restaurants, gaming, swimming, or the attractions of Crystal Lake or Lake Michigan all within 10 to 35 minutes.
Location. The home is located in the upper part of the lower Peninsula, Western Michigan, about 10 miles from Lake Michigan. If you look at the coastline of Northwest Michigan, go down past Frankfort until you see Arcadia, the house is about 10 miles due East of Arcadia just across Highway 31.
Lake Quality. Glovers Lake is a small spring fed lake. It is clean, cool - good for swimming and fishing. It has a sandy bottom and a sandy beach next to the house. The lake is clean but small (estimated at 40-50 acres). You can walk right from the patio connected to the ground floor of this house directly onto the beach. The house is actually on waterfront no street to cross, no stairs to climb down. Glovers Lake is not an all sports lake.
Fishing. There is great fishing in the area. Glovers lake itself is average but the surrounding areas are extraordinary for fishing. Close-by is Lake Michigan, Bear Lake, Bear Creek (great salmon fishing in fall), Crystal Lake, the Betsie River and about 10 or so small to medium-size lakes. This area is a fisherman's paradise. With the house comes a three person row boat with oars that can be used for fishing or just rowing across the lake. You will have to provide life jackets.

I am a clinical psychologist and university professor. I taught at UM, Ann Arbor for 21 years then moved back home to New Orleans.
Why the Owner Chose Bear Lake
I bought the first house and land as a place for me and my family with little children. We enjoy the peaceful and fun time together. I built two other houses on the 40 acres for families to enjoy. There is nothing more therapeutic and bonding for multiple generations to come and spend quiet time together than a week together enjoy the peace of water and woods. I thought of it as an effective way for families to bond and heal; for the old and young to come together. I saw this as an effective way to do family therapy without the therapist.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We got away from the telephone, television, and the routines of daily living and just ienjoyed being with one another... playing cards, frolicking in the water, fishing, rowing the boat over the lake, walking in the woods, building campfires every night and telling stories before going to bed. My kids remember this as the best times of their young lives. As a parent whose children are all grown, I think it was the best thing I could have done for us as a family.

Just wanted to let you know that my family had a wonderful time staying at the Lakeside house. The house was beautiful and spacious and very accommadating to fit our needs. Everyone had something enjoyable to do. My boys and nephew couldn't getenough of the lake. They were continually fishing andcatching frogs. It was great bonding for the boys and grandpa who also enjoyed the fishing. The girls spentrelaxing time just reading. I especially liked the peacefulness and serenity of the lake. It was trulynot a disappointment. The area is so private yet close to area attractions. We visited Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Frankfort, Manistee, and Crystal lake but the kids were always excited to go back tothe house to build the evening bonfire and do more fishing. They caught many fish!! My son Matthew (12)said to me on the last day "Mom we have to come back here next year to this same house, not the one next door, because all the memories are here." Again, everyone truly enjoyed our stay. Thank you so much.
