This private, quiet retreat is deceptively remote, for within a half-hour drive are the lively towns of Amherst and Northampton, home of Amherst College, University of Massachusetts, Smith College, and a bit further on, Hampshire and Mount Holyoke Colleges. Yoga classes, hiking and biking trails, water sports, seasonal skiing and skating plus boutique and mall shopping and great book stores.
