Child-free tranquility is yours with a choice of two exquisite, lovingly restored, independent cottages (each sleeping two) in the gardens of an historic, hillside farmhouse. The one and a half acre mature garden, completely at guests'disposal, is bursting with fruit trees, olives, rare conifers and numerous antiquities, including a 2000 year old Roman cistern!
The pool, which nestles in the olive grove, is for our guests' exclusive use, you will never feel crowded. It has a natural Sienese stone surround and wonderful, panoramic views overlooking Etruscan Arezzo and beyond to the Pratomagno mountains. It offers our guests the chance to relax, sunbathe or simply do nothing at all. But, if you need more encouragement to relax we can recommend a wonderful spa centre - with natural mineral Springs, complete with treatments, just 45 minutes from La Torre. We will work to ensure that your holiday will be the most relaxed ever!
The main house, built around an 11th century watchtower, is surrounded by the peaceful, green waves of the Tuscan hills yet only 10 minutes from Arezzo's medieval centre, the Piazza Grande. The 21st century travellers' needs are also here - such as taxis, trains, banks, cafes, shops and numerous restaurants -ranging from the simple trattoria to Michelin star standard. La Torre, set on the slopes of Monte Lignano, famous since Roman times for its natural springs, and on the boundary of the State park, it is approached via a country lane passing through vineyards and olive groves to 480 metres.
If you can tear yourself away from the beauty and calm of La Torre, Arezzo, the setting for the Oscar-winning film 'Life is Beautiful' is well placed for visiting both Tuscany and Umbria. Just 35 minutes (by train - 10 minutes to the station) to Florence and in just 1.25 hours you could be in Rome. Arezzo is also the perfect base for touring and exploring by car: Cortona 30 minutes, Sienna one hour, Florence one hour Perugia one and a half hours and even Assisi can be reached in 1.75 hours.
The classic hilltowns of San Gimignano, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Poppi, Anghiari are all easy drives for the perfect day - wonderful views of timeless hillside villages, the opportunity to discover and experience the living history which is Tuscany and sample the wonderful foods and wine. You will not be disappointed!
Each cottage, il Bacio (the Kiss) and La Veduta (the Beautiful View) has its own terrace/garden area and have been authentically restored. Many original features have been retained and there are chestnut beams, terracotta ceilings and floors throughout.
They have been furnished in a sympathetic, elegant yet comfortable style with many antiques including in one cottage - an antique billiard table. Both cottages have hand-made traditional Tuscan beds - one wickerwork, the Aretian handicraft and the other wrought-iron from Poppi just to the North of Arezzo. However the kitchens and bathrooms are the latest in functionality and Italian style.

“What can we say? La Veduta is even better than we had hoped for and the setting is incredible. The cottage is lovely and the pictures do not do it justice. It's not only a romantic, comfortable villa, it also has all the conveniences required for cooking etc. We loved coming back after each day's touring to the peace and tranquility of our home away from home. Your advice and suggestions were so helpful and brought us to places we would not have found on our own. Our cooking class was great fun as well as a great learning experience, not to mention - delicious! Thank you for everything, hopefully we will be back some day." “ A third great stay at La Torre in three years! As always Sandra & Paul made us very welcome. After a day of rain when we arrived we had perfect weather, managed to swim most days and had several good walks. I explored the many footpaths on the map and some that aren't and have left two tracks for walks on Sandra's memory stick - one of 15 km. and the other of 9km. The latter I photographed all the junctions - so if you want to do the walks just ask Sandra for the route. Two weeks goes by much too quickly - got to Cortona, Assisi and San Gimignano and loved Poppi and now all too soon we are setting off for home. For anyone driving down from the UK,the route through Germany is much the best. So Sandra, Paul and Vaz thanks once again for having us as neighbours. Hope to see you again soon." "Dear Sandra & Paul, Again we have had a wonderful week at La Veduta. The surroundings are so beautiful and there are so many interesting places to visit. And, it always felt really good to return and to drive up from Bagnoro to "our" cosy home. Thank you for providing such a welcoming place and for all the thoughtful preparations that made us feel at home - we enjoyed everything! This relaxing week was just what we needed after a stressful time. Thanks again and our best wishes to both of you. We hope we will be able to return again soon." Hiltrud & Henning, Hamburg, Germany

La Veduta is the perfect place to feel at home and explore Tuscany. The personal touches really make it a perfect home from home. We thoroughly enjoyed our cooking course in the Tower with Sandra making some real delicious dishes, which we will recreate with pleasure and memories at home. A big thanks to Paul for cracking the walnuts early that morning (for the walnut sauce) and a bigger thanks to Vaz for his patience in waiting for his morning constitution walk. Appreciation also to Paul for getting us back on the road again after the flat tyre! Highlights of our trip were Cortona, Anghiari, Siena, Poppi, Monteriggioni, climbing the Duomo in Firenze (phew!) and seeing the open air museum, that is Rome. May the next 7 years bring you the same pleasure and more, as the last 7 have. Again many thanks…. Sara & Jon, Long Melford, UK.

“We cannot imagine a more beautiful, precious and welcoming place to have celebrated our anniversary than with our trip to Italy and La Torre. To have made it in the dark from Milan (our plane was late....) driving through 32 tunnels and mountain roads to have found you here on the road with your flashlight - and a smile - and a chilled bottle of prosecco in the fridge - was the essence of hospitality. Of the many memorable trips you commended to us - the injunction not to miss the Holy Hermitage at Camoldoli was wise indeed. The drive up the Eremo through the huge pine forests and passed the rushing streams was incredibly beautiful - and the Eremo itself was inspiring. Continue flourishing in your great adventure... and you're both very very welcome in Boston any time!!” Timi & John, Boston, USA.

“Thank you so much Sandra and Paul for sharing your wonderful home. The cottage was absolutely perfect and more...! The welcoming gifts from the fruit, wine, chocs etc. made the time extral special. Vaz too, added to our stay with the smile he brought every time he came up to visit. With our unexpected car situation came up - you said you'd make it work and you surely did...Thanks for all the cheerful and helpful rides down and on one very welcome occasion UP the hill!! ” Christine & Barry, Calgary, Canada.

“When we were planning our trip to Italy, our son and daughter-in-law (Tim & Jen, page 3) suggested we spend a week at La Veduta. We are so pleased we did! We have really enjoyed our week here "Under the Tuscan Sun" and the occasional liquid Tuscan sun!! After our day trips exploring the beautiful countryside, we loved to return "home" for a relaxing glass or two of vino in the peaceful garden setting. "Ottimo!!" Wonderful memories to take home to Australia." Mary & Mike, Brisbane, Australia.
