Explore the Mountains & Rivers of the Middle Klamath
- Minimum stay:2 nights

- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
We offer a peaceful and comfortable mountain cabin in the heart of the Klamath Mountains.
The setting, nestled among large, ancient, fir trees and majestic hardwoods, is a perfect base camp to explore the surrounding mountains and rivers or just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.
The cabin features a large living room with wood stove, dining table, and two single beds. The kitchen is bright and cheery and fully equipped. The bathroom has a clawfoot tub and shower. The bedroom features a full-size brass bed with closet space.
A screened porch with rockers offers a private setting in the clean mountain air. The porch is a suitable place for two cots or sleeping pads. The spacious back yard offers plenty of room for horseshoes, badminton, volleyball, or tents. There is a large redwood deck with barbecue/fire pit overlooking the backyard.
For those wanting to venture outdoors, our location is an excellent home base to explore the local wild and scenic rivers and the Siskiyou and Marble Mountains. Local rafting and kayaking opportunities range from wild Class IV and V runs on the Spring-run Salmon River or less rambunctious Class III and IV runs on the Klamath River.
The Siskiyou and Marble Mountain Wilderness Areas of Klamath National Forest offer many miles of maintained trails leading to high peaks, mountain meadows full of wildflowers, and many beautiful lakes. Guided white-water rafting, fishing, hunting, or wilderness pack trips can be arranged with local licensed outfitters. Wildlife, notably elk, black bears, and osprey abound in this wild section of California.
Great swimming holes of pure, clean, mountain water can be found nearby at the mouth of Dillon Creek or along many miles of the Salmon River.
Nearby Klamath National Forest roads offer mountain biking opportunities.
We live 12 miles from the nearest electrical grid, but we offer home water generated power . There is a public phone two miles away on Highway 96 and, if needed, we can provide message service through our home phone.

We had a great time hiking and exploring (what we could access that wasn't blocked by late melting snow) the Klamath region. We loved staying in this vintage, cozy cabin with a farmhouse/fishing retreat feel - even including lots of antique kitchen ware and cast iron skillets, key for cooking up a big breakfast before hiking. Great place to stay with family and friends with cozy antique beds made up with fresh linens and beautiful flowers on the table. The hosts are wonderful folks too and were incredibly welcoming.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This is a very cozy and intentional space. The owners, who live on the same property, were very kind and thoughtful. They made you feel welcome, but respected your privacy...you really did feel like you were alone in the woods. The space and property was clean, well-maintained and very beautiful! I would highly recommend this place to others and the fall was a lovely time to be there with colors changing. If you like peace and quite, this is the place to go. Wonderful outdoor adventures near by, with the Klamath and Cal Salmon rivers close. We hope to go back sometime!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My friend and I stayed at the Ten Bears Cabin for two nights in October. We were fishing on the Klamath River with a local guide and the cabin was a perfect platform for us to work from. The decor is 1940's to a 'T' and a very enjoyable step back into history. Although the furnishings are originally from several decades ago, all of the features necessary for a comfortable stay have been updated.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

This is the 4th year in a row we have stayed here. We always enjoy our stay so much that we can't wait to go back. We have gotten to know the owners over the years. They are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. If you are truly looking to get away from it all, this is the place to go. The cabin has all the amenities you need to stay in comfort. However you will not find TV or internet here - and for us that is just find. Staying here helps us slow down our busy lives if just for a couple of days.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers.

Our family really enjoyed our stay at the cabin! It was a nice, warn escape from the dreary coast. The cabin was very charming, and much more spacious than what is shown in the pictures. It is also fully equipped which meant less packing for us! We very much enjoyed relaxing in the screened porch and roasting marsh mellows over the fire pit on the back deck! Aside from relocating a few household objects (mostly because we did not want them to break) the cabin and surrounding area was very kid friendly for our 3yro and 1.5yro. Nena and Max were very welcoming to our whole family! Our kids especially enjoyed the walks around their many acres as well as the tractor! There are many beautiful swimming holes close by the cabin, however - as with any outdoor experience in the woods- we took precaution with the fair amount of mosquitos and poison oak in the area. Overall, we had a very pleasant and relaxing vacation, and we would love to make this one of our family's annual get-away destinations!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Wonderful. Max and Nena are gracious hosts and answered our many questions. The cabin is vintage with nice gas appliances and a great kitchen, which is easy to use. I believe there is a barbeque. The decorations have whimsical variety and artistic merit. The bed is comfortable and the claw foot bathtub is great! We enjoyed the back deck above the large and lovely back lawn. The gardens were beautiful. It was a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The cabin and property are nicely tended in a rural setting. Everything was very clean. It is actually nicer that the photos. The area is far from restaurants, although I believe there is a local catering service that can supply you with ready made meals to order if you wish. Otherwise, you need to bring your own food or there are stores with deli's in Happy Camp, to the north, and at Sommes Bar, to the south. There are hiking, fishing, river rafting, and horse back riding, along with swimming in the local rivers and creeks. There is also good old"laying around in lawn chairs or hammock and reading a good book". The cabin has games, cards, magazines, and puzzles. Check for local festivals and fairs at Orleans and Happy Camp. There are tribal events as well. Check with the Karuk Tribal headquarters.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
