Overall we were disappointed

The first thing we noticed upon entering the condo was the smell. Although listed as a non-smoking condo, it was obvious that someone had been smoking in this unit. The smoke detector was disabled and sitting apart on top of the refrigerator. The carpets had been recently cleaned but the whole condo smelled damp and had residual cigarette smell. After that every little thing seemed to add up to a less than ideal situation.The appliances were clean and in great shape and the view from any window was wonderful. This condo seemed more like a cash cow for a rental company than a family oriented condo. Tired and rundown with a great view would be my description.

Owner response:I am so sorry you had a disappointing experience at our condo. After reading your review, I immediately contacted our management company. This is a strictly non-smoking condo, and we/they take this issue quite seriously. We have never had a complaint about this before so are doing our best to investigate the situation. None of the owner's family smoke, and to our knowledge none of our renters have either. One possible explanation could be the smoke from wildfires burning in Dare County north of Atlantic Beach which have severely affected air quality off and on for the past several weeks. One some days, we can smell the smoke as far west as Raleigh (where we live). None-the-less, I do regret that you did not immediately contact our management company as they would have been happy to relocate you to another property if requested. Regarding the condition of the condo, in the last two years we have replaced the HVAC system, the sliding glass doors, all of the bath fittings and medicine cabinets, the blinds, the sofas, the dinette set, and many other furniture items. The bedspreads and pillows are replaced annually. The bed and bath linens are delivered fresh and sealed to the condo prior to our guests' arrival. Cookware sets are replaced annually. We make every effort to provide our renters with an attractive, clean and comfortable accommodation. The SeaSpay Condominiums were built in 1980, but they are well maintained. It is not a brand new property, and our condo is priced lower than comparable oceanfront properties of newer construction. As with any property directly on the ocean, humidity can be a problem, and I regret that this caused any discomfort. We are sincere in wanting our guests to have a great vacation and will continue to make all possible improvements toward that end.

Highschool reunion

This condo was all and more then we expected! I stayed there with friends from high school and it made our reunion just awesome! The rooms were bigger then the pictures looked and we had all the emenitys needed and more! I would highly recommend this condo to anyone for a fun vacation! It has a nice big pool that was clean and well maintiained and an area with grills to use also! I can't wait to go back !

I stayed at this property in late September with two of my friends for a week. The location was easy to find, as was the exact condo upon entering the complex. Upon entering the condo, we could see that it was exactly as described - with a beautiful view of the ocean! The amenities were better than described - with several extras thrown in. Rooms were bigger than the pictures would lead one to believe, with lots of storage throughout. Everything was clean and well-maintained. Due to the weather, we didn't venture too far, but the close proximity to the beach - a very short walk down the walkway - made our visit heavenly. The pool was also clean, spacious, and well-maintained. Laundry facilites were on the grounds also, making this chore easy to complete. Groceries were easily available, as there were all types of shopping nearby, including souvenirs and every day items. Several restaurants were easy to get to, with a variety of cuisine available. We enjoyed our experience so much we have already made reservations at this condo for the same time next year!

Great Girls Get-away retreat

My two friends and I stayed here Sept/Oct. The condo was just the right size and had all the conveniences we needed. We utilized the grills in the manicured courtyard and enjoyed eating at the picnic tables and swimming in the pool that was still open even in late Sept. The view of the ocean from the condo unit couldnt get much better and the causeway to the beach was just out the door. The beach was lovely and wide and we shot some great photos not only from oceanside, but also the condo balcony. Lots to do with minimal driving in Morehead and quaint Beaufort, both just across the bridges from Atlantic Beach. Definitely booking again for next year !!
