We had such a great time at your cottage. What a beautiful spot. We loved exploring the beach and just sitting on the deck in the evenings. It was so peaceful yet convenient to town. It was just the kind of quiet and quaint place we were looking for. Thanks for sharing your cottage and this wonderful place with us.

What a great vacation we had. We truly enjoyed your cozy little cottage. It was so quiet and relaxing to sit on the deck in the sun and enjoy the wonderful views. We loved having access to the beach and being able to take walks along the shore of the lovely cove. It was so peaceful and made for such a great getaway we look forward to returning another year.

your cabin was the perfect retreat for us. Thanks for opening up your vacation home to allow others who are not as fortunate as to have such a stunning view from our back porch. We truly enjoyed our stay and hope to make it back up there again soon.

The views from the cottage are spectacular however, the cottage itself was not prepared for rental. The refrigerator had not been emptied or cleaned, the floors needed to be mopped, the area rugs were dirty, and the owner left personal items in the shower. Furniture had dust on it not to mention the webs throughout the cottage. I spent a 2-3 hours cleaning the cottage. The hot water ran out after 5 minutes and took a long time to heat again so we needed to alternate day and night showers. After I emptied the refrigerator and cleaned it, I found out that the items in the refrigerator belonged to the owner. The owner deducted $25.00 from the security for the items discarded (I feel the refrigerator should have been left empty for my food) I have rented cottages in the area before and have always found them to be in good order: empty refrigerator, clean and well kept. The owner should post on the site that he does not remove his food or personal items. This way potential renters will know what to expect before they rent.

Owner response:I’m sorry about the views expressed by this renter. We haven’t had any negative reviews posted on this site in all the years that we have rented. This renter didn’t even express her gripes until after I had returned her security deposit, minus $25 to cover the cost of replacing items in the refrigerator that were wasted and neglectfully discarded by the renter. This renter even apologized for such actions and admitted she hadn’t read the Rental Guide,which clearly states that there are items in the fridge, such as condiments, salad dressings etc, for use by the renters, if needed. We’ve never had such a problem with renters before. They’d use something. If they used it up, they’d replace it. I never imagined I’d have to warn renters that there might be food items in our refrigerator. I think this renter had different expectations. This is not a professional rental. This is not the Samoset Resort. This is our summer home. We rent it out a few times each summer because we have to. We use the rental income to pay the yearly bills. I believe that is the point of Vacation Rentals By Owner. There are personal items all through the house because we live here. That includes the fridge. We also leave items in there in case renters have use for them, same with shampoo in the shower. If you saw my hairline, you’d see I don’t need to stock the shower with hair care products for myself. Our little cottage shows its age at times. It’s a small place my father built back in the 50’s. It has been renovated and even just had brand new windows put in. Still, it is not perfect. But it is a very special place to our family and we’ve enjoyed sharing it with some great renters. Her other claims are just outlandish. The cottage was swept and mopped thoroughly the week before they arrived. The hot water does not run out in five minutes. We warn about water usage and ask for conservation, but we’ve never had problems with hot water running out, unless people are wasteful. I’m sorry this renter chose to disparage our family and our cottage in such a spiteful way, especially after admitting she enjoyed the week and apologized for her wastefulness. All over $25, which was reasonable compensation for the items, some of which hadn’t even been opened, that were wasted and disgarded. We are not a professional cottage rental. We are a Christian Maine family that loves our cottage and rents it to preserve it and allow others to enjoy it.

There are some places that I consider a "God Spot". This cottage, deck and view is certainly one. My family enjoyed breakfast this week on the deck, eating blueberry pancakes as well as many other good times.
