If you are looking for a little heaven on Earth The Last Resort is your ticket! We were a family of 8 including our puppy Gilly who would agree It was Gillys first ever vacation and he along with all of us enjoyed every second.From the early morning Sunrise to the evening sunset was filled with fun and relaxation. The Beautiful view with the marvelous SCREENED in wrap around porch was both dog and kid friendly we enjoyed all our meals on the porch The weather was the best and the beach is by far one if not the most beautiful we have ever seen.We enjoyed the very private pool. Oh please can we return soon. Thanks for having such a beautiful place!! Perfect location if you are looking for Myrtle beach for you( East coasters) fun Panama City is a short drive Looking for History Head toward Destin Something for everyone Our boys enjoyed snorkling for the first time. We had freash seafood deliveerd by a local fisherman and it was so YUMMY!!! Great Kitchen to prepare large meals in. There was no rainy days but the Last resort is equipped with many board games if needed and so much fun to watch the sunset and play a game with the kiddos . Thanks for the umbrellas and beach chairs They got a lot of use while we were there. We are now proud owners of beautiful artwork so graciously given to us by The Last resort hostess We treasure it Thankyou you so much for all your help Hope to book again in the fall!!!

My wife and I are about half way through a two month stay at the Last Resort. If it were not for some scheduled appointments "up north, " we would try to stay longer. The house is exactly as described and depicted. It is obvious that Sue and Donal take great pride in the house; it was clean and well-maintained when we arrived. Moreover, Sue and Donal are continually adding little touches. For example, they added a new mattress and a new DVD since we arrived. As others have noted, the Last Resort has a great deck with a very good view of the Gulf. The gas grill is located in an enclosed patio with a light which operates by either a motion detector or a switch. Consequently, you can cook out in any weather and in the dark. It is big plus to have Sue and Donal next door. Sue found out that I liked to work out and steered me to a fitness club and a heated indoor pool about five minutes away. She also brought to our attention the Encore classes at a community college in Panama City. Those courses are six weeks in length and cover a wide range of subjects. The house is located in a great area, only a fairly short drive to Destin, Ft. Walton Beach, Panama City Beach and Panama City. In addition to the beautiful beaches, there is plenty to do for people of all ages: plays, golf, concerts, shopping, restaurants, state parks, water parks, Ecco tours and boat tours.

Great Outdoor Space with Gulf Views for you and your dogs

When looking for our beach vacation property, our priorities were outdoor space, gulf view, & dog friendly. The Last Resort exceeded our expectations in these 3 areas. The huge wraparound porch was great with space for picnic table, swing, hammock, lounge chairs, and 3 separate sitting areas. Another great feature of the porch was that the 2 ends had open roofs so there was always sun available somewhere on the porch if that's what you wanted - plus the open roof was great for star / moon watching!! Another plus was the entire house and porch are all on one level, accessible to everyone from the dining room and family room. This is a huge plus!! The waves/surf can be heard some of the time and the birds are singing most of the time - I loved hearing the waves crashing and birds singing at the same time! The gulf views are great from all areas of the porch and from kitchen, dining room, and family room. As you can probably guess, most of our family, dogs included, stayed on the porch most of the time. The ground floor patio area is a secure,safe place for your dog, completely fenced with the stair access to the house in the middle. This is a great area with gas grill and chairs. The beach /sand lovers in our group enjoyed the beautiful uncrowded beach. It does take a few minutes to walk to beach, but you can always drive. I walked to the beach every morning. Beach umbrella and chairs are available for your use (I also saw some other beach items/toys that we didn't use). The house was open and comfortable for our group of 4 adults and 2 dogs. Also the private pool was great! The owners were helpful in answering our questions and concerns. The listing and photos accurately reflect the location, appearance, and amenitie. We enjoyed our visit and plan to return!

The "Last Resort" will be our First Resort from now on!! I cannot tell you what a wonderful time we had, the house is perfect for people and pets, the decks were amazing, the view fantastic and Sue and Don were super nice and helpful. We enjoyed every minute on the beach, in the pool, reading in the swing, napping in the den, visiting nearby parks, etc. We will definitely be back at least once a year for sure!!!

We had an awesome time at The Last Resort! Susan and Don are wonderful and the accommodation were perfect. We loved the private beach area, the pool and most of all the screened in porch with the swing is a perfect place to read and nap! "Buck" our Mt Fiest loved the beach; he would run, dig and chase the birds until he would just drop. We highly recommend The Last Resort! Vikki, Donald, Joseph and Buck

The Last Resort was wonderful! The Alfieri's have a great set-up and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. The pool was well maintained as was the house. We were able to bring our dog which made all of us happy! The view was great. The beach access was just a quick drive/walk down the street and around the corner. The beach was crystal clear during our stay and there was a great sand bar to swim or walk out on to explore. The house had everything we needed to make us feel at home. We appreciated the library and game assortment. We hope to be back to visit soon!

Just a brief note to thank Don and Sue for the fabulous time we had at The Last Resort over the Christmas Holidays in 2004. Seven of us (my wife and our three children, along with my parents and also our three dogs) stayed at TLR for two weeks and enjoyed every day of our vacation! The rooms were nice, with beautiful views, a good kitchen and three TVs and good furnishings. I enjoyed getting up early each morning to watch the sun rise far to the southeast and all of us enjoyed the sunsets, either from the main room of our lodging or from the beach. The beach is about 100-200 yards away, close enough to walk to, and from several rooms of the house there are nice views of the gulf. In addition, Don and Sue were wonderful hosts! Thanks!

Dear Sue and Donal, Thank you and God Bless you both for your kind hospitality! The 'Last Resort' is such a warm, cozy place to stay. You never want to leave! My parents, my brother, his wife and their son from Atlanta, GA met my husband, our son and I at this beautiful home to spend vacation for one week. We had plenty of room and basically never left the house. We never needed too...with the pool, the porch swing, the hammock...not to mention the Olympics airing while we were there, we were happy to stay put. It was definitely the most relaxing vacation that we ever had. Charley, our Sheltie loved the porch and lounging by the pool deck. As well as meeting Thea and Romeo...the Alferi's rescued Weimer's. Sue and Don have worked tremendously hard to build their dream home, only to share with others. They are such generous and loving people...just like family and now adopted into our family! We just returned home from "The Last Resort". This house is perfect for dogs - the fenced kennel, the screened in deck, and the grassy side yard are all very pet friendly. The screened deck offers a nice ocean view along with a picnic table, a swing and a hammock. The pool is a wonderful place to relax, but be aware that it is not completely private - it is next to the owners house and at times they were using it. However, they were kind enough to allow our dog to swim which was very appreciated. Beach access is a little difficult and is a lengthly walk, so we drove to the nearby car park and walked over the dunes via the boardwalk. If you want to take your dogs along on your beach vacation, this may be the house for you.

Owner response:1. Renters are offered private use of pool .. unfortunately the DeFees chose the one summer week our family members visited, but they were very good about 'sharing'the pool 2. Although Mr. Alfieri & I walk to the beach daily with our dog/s, since directly in front is private property, we recommend our tenants use the carpark/walkovers, the first of which commences 1 1/2 short blocks west

Today is my first day back at work and I can not stop thinking about "The Last Resort". I will stay there time and time again. The house is wonderful and VERY livable. There is a very convenient grocery store near by as well as a dollar general for any last minute needs. There are also several great little shops along the main road for gifts and souvoneirs. We loved the house so much we hardly left and ate most of our meals on the wonderful screened in deck with a great ocean view, but when we did decide to eat there were several nice restaurants to choose from--ranging from "a quick bite" to a "nice dinner" all very close to the last resort. Don and Susan (the owners) were great and attentive. They made themselves available for any questions about the area or to attend to anything we needed. The pool was the big surprise. It was so pleasant that we spent all of our time there. Other than early morning and evening walks with the dog along the beach we saw no need to leave our beautiful pool and wonderful house!

Enjoyed our stay at this extremely well equiped beach house. The owners were more than helpful in everyway. A great place for kids and dogs. Pool very well maintained, tho we did not get to use it because of weather. Many restaurants in the area, close to grocery.

The Last Resort was a perfect place for our family vacation. It was such a nice and relaxing place. Our 1 year old son, Ian, really enjoyed his time at The Last Resort. The Pool was great and the screened in porch made it nice to have meals outside. It was also really nice to be able to bring along our dogs, Boo and Ziggy. They really enjoyed it also. The only negative is that it is a good walk to the beach. But the view made up for that. The view of the ocean was great. I am sure we will be visiting The Last Resort again.

"Arrived late Saturday to this 'Great House'. What a nice surprise. After several months of phone calls and internet searches, we found this 'pet friendly' treasure .. lazy fun days on the beach, playing tourist at local attractions, enjoying cool, breezy nights on the deck. Kids have enjoyed having the pool, watching dolphins play in the water directly off the beach from the house. Golf was great - beautiful courses. Fishing was good too. Has been a fun, relaxing three weeks in the Florida sun, the comforts, convenience and seclusion of this terrific house have made it even more so. We will definitely put 'The Last Resort' on our list of places to return to."
